  • third party now what kinda idiot could disagree with this common sense gutless politicians most people dont vote we're doomed

  • @zappadead13 I LOVE ThIS COUNTRY

IT IS THE PUBLIC SECTORS union workers GOVERNMENTS

    I AM AFRAID OF!

CITY OF BELL IS PERFECTLY EXAMPLE case 101 LOL…

Wasteful Spending + Frauds = Corruption!

    Don’t ask + Don’t tell = Beyond Lies

Union is full of shit fat pig!

  • public secrtors union worker governments bankrupted america.

  • @rufullofshitusa you are not allowed to vote signed the rest of us

  • You could just implement a Bank Tax. There's far more money there, and it wouldn't screw over the working-class.

  • The Roman Catholic Church has long had such a hold on the American left that ‘educated’ Americans ‘ought’ to view their history with antipathy, self hatred and shame. Remember it was the secular West that created the first universal language, science! A culture of reasoned, critical inquiry and an open political discourse and accountable governance. Such culture has, from its inception, been under attack from many skilfully crafted narratives by its theocratic enemies.

  • This guy has been proven as a fraud, but the problem is he will not debate the other side and our media will not mention they exist. They fete this guy like he is some seer on a mountain. The guy is wrong about everything he says. If you read people like Dean Baker, Ha-joon Chang, Stiglitz, you realize that capitalism is always been about state intervention, tariffs, protectionism, nationalism. There is no free market. Don't fall for it.

  • This fucker has no idea how many people have to drive-and have no alternative-over 100 miles a week for work.

  • you know what they made u belive u need ed health care reform when infact there was no need wtf all of the sudden came from no where

  • Friedman's loyalty is not to America and least of all to the American people.

He is just another Zionist lizard who wants your tax dollars and the lives of our young for Israel.

Have you not noticed most of the people who froth at the mouth in war lust just happen to be Jewish?

    Then question their loyalty.

America wake up and rid this cancer.

  • Thomas Friedman is Anti-Israel. I agree with you, however, that his idea of taxing gasoline is the most idiotic notion ever.

Americans are currently being taxed up to our eyeballs in nonsensical and unconstitutional taxes. Government is frivolous and wasteful with the money. Friedman thinks giving them more of our tax dollars is going to help? ...Yeah sure, give em more money so that they have more money to waste!!!!!!

  • @nef2442

More money to give to Israel

  • its better than more money to terrorists...

  • @nef2442

Ha ha caught another fucking Z

Israel will suck America dry and go on to the next host to feed on.

If you had done any research you would know that Israel creates terrorism.

  • @saracen7 I'm not jewish, so I'm not defending Israel from a nationalistic perspective. But if you truly believe that Israel creates terrorism, you are a complete monkey. If Mexicans were launching campaigns of aggression against the U.S. along with rocket fire, wouldn't Americans defend themselves? Don't give me that occupation crap either because unlike the U.S. Israel was given to the Jewish people by U.N. ratification (1948).

  • @nef2442

OK - you really need to do some homework on how Israel was given Palestine as their new homeland.

Research the influence of the powerful bankers (zionists) on US , UK, France.

The methods they used to win votes from UN delagates.

The founding fathers of the Israeli state openly brag about it.

Bribery, corruption, coercion, and even intimidation.

Not unlike the methods they are currently practicing to control US congress, Senate and even the presidents.

Unless your scared of the truth.

  • @saracen7 yada yada, For the sake of your argument, lets say its all true...the Zionists influence powerful bankers. O.k. now someone has to control everything so you should get on your scraggy little knees and thank God that they are the ones in influencing the powerful bankers and not some other a-holes! Imagine if communist China were pulling all the strings or Muslims? What about a group of Fascist European Wak Jobs? African despots? Jews have a superior paradigm to all others, so thank em!

  • @nef2442

    Are you fucking kidding.

Look at what the Banks have done in the US, UK, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy

infact the whole world with their banking (Rothchild) system

Only two countries in the entire world do not follow their banking system.

Fact is you are not Jewish (and I do not have a problem with real Jews) but you are certainly a zionist.

    So stop pretending.

  • @saracen7 For the umpteenth time, Thomas Friedman is not a friend to the Jewish people he is their enemy. He is a liberal who despises and makes a mockery of Jews whenever he can get a chance. Jewish people who think they have a friend in Friedman are badly mistaken. His famed book on globalization, "The Lexus and the Olive Tree" an underlying theme is ridicule of the State of Israel.

His other book, "From Jerusalem to Beirut is derisive of Jews as well!

  • @nef2442

Exactly Zionists are not friends of Jews.

The sooner the Jews realize that they have been high jacked by this fascist ideology the sooner we can have peace.

  • @saracen7 you missed by entire line of reasoning. Somebody has to mind the store, who do you think should be pulling all the strings? If you are right and Jews are "controlling the senate"..."controlling the world banks"...etc...

Then I thank God its Jews that are running shit and not some other schmucks. Look at Latin America, you want them running shit? Look at the Muslims you want them running shit? European socialists? African autocrats? Thank God its Jews at least they have ethics!

  • @nef2442

I could agree with almost entirely what you said but to say only Jews have ethics is ludicrous.

Once again let me make it clear - Jews are not my enemies.

    Zionist ideology is.

Unfortunately Zionists are intent on using the slur of being anti-jewish against anyone who questions Zionist state of Israel.

This only exposes the weakness of arguing their case as they don't have a leg to stand on when faced with hard facts.

  • @saracen7, If you read my post clearly i did not say only Jews have ethics that would be a logical fallacy. I said Jews have a superior paradigm to those who are opposed to Israel politically. If it were up to Thomas Friedman there would be no state of Israel, hence no Zionism. This guy is a terrorist appeaser. You can't argue the facts 99.9% of all terrorists are Muslims, not Jews. When is the last time a Jew blew himself up in a cafe or a night club?

  • @nef2442

    You can't argue the fact............

    What complete bollocks.

You are not only showing your ignorance but your lack of independant thinking.

We have all heard the baseless 'all terrorist are muslims' slogan created by zionists and you obviously fell for it.

Unless of course you are one which I am begining to suspect.

  • @saracen7 "baseless all terrorists are muslims slogans"

Sorry how is the observable fact that muslims have a monopoly on terrorism baseless? If we did not know who were carrying these acts of terrorism and "big government" were telling us hey its such and such minority...then i'd be with you. But its an empirical fact that Muslims dominate terrorism. This is not a slogan its a fact. Even if there were no Zionists in the world, that would still be a fact!

  • fat preachy liberal. i don't think theres anything wrong with being a liberal or conservative. its just these ridiculously wealthy loudmouths who are constantly telling us what we should do. SHUT UP FRIEDMAN!!!

  • Friedman is calling out U.S. citizens out for mindless populism?!?!?!? L-O-FUCKING-L. Yeah, we're part of the problem, but ya know Tom, just might help a little bit if we had a news media with the intellectual and journalistic acumen to grasp the broader power relations at play when we talk about U.S. foreign and domestic policy, and explain the consequences of those on our country. Go write for a community college newspaper you deluded fucking idiot.

  • Sorrym, righties, but Friedman is right. You California, TX and Colorado douches don't want to pay your taxes, then enjoy living in hell. Fuck Amerikkka. Undertaxed nation, or more exactly, unequally taxed.

Of course we could save money by halving the military.

The poor and the middle pay the taxes the rich should be paying. Do the world a favor, shit on a country club golf course today. I'd say it's the rich's fault, but he's right, it's the average dildo who supports war spending.

  • You are Hitler

  • Wow, that just pissed me off. I have a crazy idea you jackass nazi trash, Thomas. How about we bring our Troops home. Not just in the middle east. How about Korea, how about Germany. How about we take care of America and stop policing the planet while building a sick empire based on lies of promised democracy. How about we don't give OVER 30 TRILLION of our dollars to banks who just squander it like degenerate gamblers. How about we oust the federal reserved bank. How about that you F*#k..

  • Thanks for the polite response. I guess I didn't realize Mr Friedman's job was to inspire us. I respect and admire Mr Freidman. I purchased his books for his knowledge of the subject and his opinion. Please don't put him on the level with Fox News. Regards

  • How many times have we been promised that a tax increase will go for a specific reason, say to decrease national debt, etc. I am all for an increase in gas tax, I like Mr Friedman but is he the most nieve man in the world thinking the increase in gas tax won't end up in a general fund and not solve any problems save create new unproductive ways of spending it. Just a thought from another dumb American who can't spell.

  • TO "ikeike2"... I think he is not necessarily naive but, rather, optimistic. He has to appear hopeful in order to inspire. But, maybe I am wrong. In any case, he has great ideas, and he went to my school, so perhaps I am a bit biased (Brandeis University). Either way, it's an important topic.

  • I think we need better intellectuals.

  • A Republic is governed by a selective few, while in a Democracy the people govern. Both systems share similarities but are not the same thing. We are kind of ruled by an elite (i.e. celebrities, athletes, special interest groups, lobbyists, and corrupt politicians) Republic of selected officials enforcing THEIR will or influence on the masses, not the masses on them.

  • The Republic, a political treatise (early 4th century B.C.E) by the Greek philosopher Plato. Presented in the form of a series of dialogues between Socrates and his pupils, it begins with a discussion of the nature of justice that leads in turn to an attempt to define the ideal society. For Plato, this would consist of an aristocracy run by a class of legislators groomed for leadership by a state education system.

  • Criticizing renewable energy is like the guy in 1900 who hated Henry Ford and insisted on riding his horse. The horse was history. Now the combustion engine is history, check out a Tesla sedan and stop watching Fox.

  • Friedman is right, which ever country get's in front of this will have a distinct advantage (as oil production has peaked) in the near future. It's time for big businesses to do what they did in the country back in the 50's & 60's, invest in the future. Yeah, we should make it more expensive to use finite resource based energy technology, but if someone's willing to invest in renewable energy why not let them operate at a reduced tax rate (or even tax free) the first 5 years or so.

  • Take the climate out of it, why the hell would you want to depend on a dirty, finite resource to power our country? Remember the EV-1? And that was 90's technology! Unfortunately big oil and Bush Jr killed it. Had GM stayed the course and invested (as most smart businesses do) they might have been the #1 car company in the world, instead of the subsidized piece of crap we all paid for. They even sold the battery technology to Chevron. Now they can't even make the Volt work.

  • EXACTLY! The climate is only one out of TEN OR MORE reasons to stop depending on foreign oil!

  • How can some of you dismiss this guy so thoughtlessly?

Even if you don't believe in Climate Change, is dependency on insane regimes for oil a sustainable policy? Would we have been wrapped up in Iraq if it weren't for oil? Each country producing it's own self sustaining energy makes us and them safer. Also, since renewable energy has to be produced on site the potential to put Americans to work is great, therefore stimulating our economy and saving money from future foreign wars.

  • Toqueville predicted exactly what is happening today...

    The violence of Party Spirit

The subordination of the wise to the prejudices of the ignorant

  • Not a Democracy? think again.

the Frenchman Alex Toqueville in 1832 wrote Democracy in America... Where did he come up with that?

a foriegner over 100 years ago thinks saw us as such

Democracy is a political system opposed to Monarchy. In that, America Qualifies, as we have no King or Queen. or Royality of any kind. Washington made us a Democracy when he commanded that he was never to be addressed as his "highness" but as ' Mister' President

  • We live in a Republic, we elect representatives. The people don't elect them directly but an electoral college does. If we are a Democracy, then we are closer to a Republic than a Democracy. Special interest groups, Lobbyists, and corrupt Politicians = a Republic of selected officials enforcing THEIR will on the masses, not the people on them.

p.s. Democracy = dēmos "people" kratos "rule".

  • And what is light? a wave or a partical?

    answer it is both...

what is America a Republic or a Democracy?

    answer it is both...

We have a representive goverment that makes us a Republic... but we also are not a Monarcy ruled by the elite which makes us a Democracy...

Read your history and stop lissening to Limpballs

  • Your just the kind of person he's talking about MrDeppness... you don't believe in a Republic...

you believe only in your Self...

If your part of a Nation... then every member of that Nation is your concern...

I right now today pay the Health care of our boys getting shot up and blown up Over seas...

by what your saying your not willing for tax dollars to do that...

You pay for Medicare Right now today anyways and if your parents are using it now they soon will...

  • Do you know how many people are getting free money? They call it poverty and hard times, but its really called fat, lazy, poor desicion making.

  • No more big paychecks and no heirs,It all goes back to the state. Everyone works, with hand tools, physically. No work ,no food. Entertainers get paid in peanuts. Politicians for honor. Lock and load all nukes, shut our shores, and evryone say fk u!

  • BTW, we do NOT have Democracy. A democracy is 51% telling the other 49% where they can live, what they have keep and what their rights are. NO, we live in a Republic. Get that straight. A Republic is the rule of law protected the minority from the majority. Study your Constitution and Bill of Rights. Nowhere does it mention democracy. This isn't Canada. This is the United States of America.

  • Thomas, you had me with the idea that the people need to demand difficult tasks from their reps but then lost me with the gas tax idea. Sorry buddy, but more tax is NEVER a good idea. Period. End of story. Why should people be forced to pay tax for healthcare of someone else? You are such a socialist. No let's end the nation building in 700 bases around the world and stop printing money so our so we can pay down the debt and pump up our dollar again.
