Happy Birthday, John. May you enjoy many more. I have only just found the Museum of Appalachia. I was there in July, 2010 and had planned to be there for the Fall Festival until a bout of pneumonia got into the way. I did make it to the museum on Friday and had a wonderful time. This time I was able to chat with some of the staff who are all very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their hospitality makes the museum even more enjoyable.
I hope to see you, Charlie B, David H, Raymond F, Leroy, Bill & Laurie, Wayland & many more of my friends. I can't wait to reminisce about John Hartford and Grandpa Jones, so different yet so entertaining each in his own way. We miss them sorely. John Rice, I was so saddened to hear about Elizabeth "changing skies". We will all miss her greatly. Take care and God bless you and your family and know that you are all in my prayers. Until we meet again, I am sincerely, Melinda Sue... your #1 fan!
I still have my "coat of many colors" that I have worn for so many years and plan to bring that to keep away the ever present rainy day that always manages to fall during the weekend. It's always a pleasant rain .. cools things down and keeps up the tradition. :) If you still have my phone number on file, please have someone give me a call and help me decide where I should stay so that I can be with the many pickers and grinners who will be jammin' all night long.
Hi, John Rice, Watching this video reminds me why and how much I have enjoyed coming to your Fall Homecoming Event for so many years. I had to miss the last couple of years but plan on being there this year, "the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise." I am looking for a program of the weekend's players and events. I will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday *IF I haven't waited too late to make my reservations...
Love this!
