  • How long did this take?

  • GOD DAMM U FINE

  • I love her confidence!

  • You shouldn't comb it!!! Use a sewing needle! I'm taking mine out now. Combing is a no no for black hair.

  • @nubian05girl how do use a sewing needle?

  • @Shiek3113 Hey, you basically pick it out with a safety pin, push pin, or a thick sewing needle (the skinny sewing needles prick your fingers too much.) I will upload a vid on how I'm taking mine down. The needles are better at loosening the dread without raking and ripping the hair like a comb. Check out my vid:) Hope this helped.

  • @nubian05girl so if i get dredlocks i wouldnt need sum kind of product to take it out or sumthin just use a needle

  • @plasticdoll1000 You can wet them and apply conditioner to soften them if you feel that works better for you, but not necessarily. For me the locs come out easier dry, then I just apply some conditioner once its out.

  • haha "can i have yur number?" "negative" lolz

  • man yo fro gon be crazy!! u gon look like Ludacris at the end of the Stand Up video lol lookin forward to catchin that someday

  • have you ever had two dreads connected together and have it create that finger look in your head?

  • can we get married i love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Uh yeah........ Haven't you heard of the Take Down Remover Cream? With Take Down - There is no way people should lose their hair when taking out dreadlocks, braids or weaves. Unless they just want to loose hair!

  • @hairstyleremovers what . . ? u loose hair everyday it just seems like she's loosing a lot hair because her hair has been locked for years . .

  • @hairstyleremovers dude look at my vids,...im only 5months in and if i took out my locs id lose alot of hair,...everybody looses 100 strands of hair every couple months thats not balding thats normal,...u know when ppl without locs comb their hair and get hair in their comb, those are them 100 strands, but when your hair is loc'd all that hair is tanged in the lock

  • love the mayer posters! woo hes great. annywayy yeea i was thinking about gettn dreads..lil scared tho idk if i can pull em off...but you rock em!

  • so how did your hair feel?? do you think its healthy enough after the combing and stuff?? not tryin to be funny, im just a hair person.

i love that you know that the hair that shed was just usual shedding most ppl dont know that and start flippin when you take down their braids that they left in for too long

  • hahaha i love you...you are so silly!

  • you lost a whole lota hair though,if you do take them out,you gonna need lots a protien treatments to strenghten the bits that you have left after putting it trough the battering that it underwent, anyway you're lovely with your dreds

  • yo hair gunna be thin my daughter has em and it might or might not look good

  • John Mayer! I love him. I get to see him for the first time in September! Oh, glory.

  • You certainly can. i took out mind last year. Just use a whole bunch of shampoo. I think i went through about 2 1/2 bottles.

  • My mom didn't believe that I could comb my locs out if I wanted to then I showed her your vid :)

I love John Mayer by the way :) :) haha

  • I am mixed your hair reminds me of mines!

  • i think you should braid it and leave it like that

  • do you play the guitar? -( i saw the poster on the wall)

  • 1:01 - 1:07

...you were wondering why your hair couldn't just fall this way... I've asked that.

  • do you think this works with wavy hair????

  • why does it have to be "too much time on my hands" ?

    there's no such thing

people make time to do things they want to do

  • Gee, Applesandmustard, I was not speaking to you directly...its a general comment to anyone thinking of doing something so ridiculous. Practically ANYtHING can be done, if you (not you personally) really want to do it!!

  • OH OK!

    my bad

  • u are super fine the cutest girl i ever seen wit dreads

  • @lanoddb she looks like a dude

  • Seeeeeeeeen, Never knew this was possible.

  • i am taking mine out. they are about the length of yours in your recent vidoes. I think I will be done sometime next year.

  • and what makes his hair dreadlocks and mine not?

  • if that's what you believe

    go right ahead :)

  • obviously you can

    i just did it

is just hair. matted hair. it's not tied in knots.

and with patience and tons of moisture it can be slowly picked out

    common sense

run along, your argument is invalid

  • @applesandmustard Dont you just hate when people ask you stupid questions? i am going to get dreads next year when i graduate because my mom doesnt want me to have them right now, but i am trying to get the xat the end of my junior year of high school.

  • how long had they been loc? i've been growing mine for 3 yrs and some odd months, and i am soo looking fwd to not having to cut my hair off! Ppl sd it couldnt be done, w/o cutting them, but I'm glad you proved it could be!

  • are you glad you took them out? or do you regret it?

  • 2 THINGS: How old are you? And how long was your hair before you got the dreads?

  • 22. my hair was pretty short. after i got them twisted it was probably like an inch long. i'm not sure of the length before though

  • Girl you are soo funny.

  • Dang, if your hair grew that long in 2 years, I can't wait to get my dreads! Mostly I'm wating because I don't like the idea of cutting my hair off. I saw one of your previous comments, and I understand how you feel about perms. I can't stand them. I've let my perm grow out about 5 or 6 months now, and I believe I have enough to start...can't wait! Your dreads look wonderful, but if you want to take them out I say go for it. :)

  • applesandmustard: how do you get your dreads to keep growing because it seems like mine aint moving from shoulder length. holla at me

  • What technique did you use to lock them? it looks like you're unbraiding them, but they still look fully locked...im confused. I like the way yours look tho

  • theres a part in the video when i twisted the part i already undid, and then undid the twist

but my hair is fully locked and i picked it out

it took forever, around 45 mins or so but theyre completely locked up

i started them with the gel twist coil things (i'm not sure of the exact name)

  • they aint locked thats y

  • they are fully locked

  • Yes you can take out locs. I know people that have done it. Look on youtube you can see many videos of people doing it.

  • i know what my hair is....

you can pick locks out, it's just tangled matted hair

it takes forever to do, but it can be done

at the time of this video i had my hair locked for over 2 years

but if you still dont agree then eh well :)

  • dude or chick...you can take out dread locks bc besides seeing the how-to videos on dread websites and the videos here on youtube ive actually SEEN my brother do it and hes had his dreads 3 years so wtf u talking bout? but it does take forever though because you have to soak them for so long and do short and steady combing for ever damn dread

  • 1:19 L....O....L U are SILLY hahahah

  • Thank you so much for posting this. You have inspired me and as a result, I have began the process of taking down my locks of about 12 years. I started a video series too. Thank you sooo much!

  • u r so fukin FINE man that not having ur number thing crushed me

  • LOL your facial expressions.

    you're like

AMG MY HAIRS ALL LONG O:

:L woww must take for ever to take them ALL out.

  • wut made u lock ur hair in the first place??

  • laziness :)

i didnt want to get perms anymore and didnt know what else to do with my hair

  • that will take a milion years

  • Wow girl !!

you are so cute and so beautiful.

  • how did u dread your hair?

and how much does it cost?

  • You should grow your dreads for another 4 years and then remove them, imagine how long it would be. I love them by the way, i'm growing dreads in January because of you. I have a low haircut so i gotta wait......

  • Ahh your hair is so pretty :) Its springy and boingy.

  • seriously

wow so if it's there hair they end up cutting it?

  • of course it can be undone why would you get dreads and have them in forever if you cant take them out

    so stupid

  • a lot of people are under the impression that they have to be cut off

and a lot of people do actually cut them off rather than taking all the time to undo each one

  • it's better and easier to take them down if you put conditioner in your hair before hand or at least thats what i've heard

  • yea the one i took out i soaked completely in conditioner and water

    it still took forever!

  • sucks well now you know that taking your locs out is an option but a long one at that lol

  • Don't take them out please.

  • scratch the last comment, i guess you can take out dreds : o

  • sorry but those are more like braids, my dreds are real dreds and they cant be undone, those are real dreds, the ones that cant be undone

  • dread locs can be taken out, it takes a very long time, but it can be done. my loctican advises soaking them for an extended amount of time in conditioner before you start

  • A dreadloc is a rope of matted, coiled hair. Like any rope, it can be undone, unraveled.

  • It's normal to have dreads right? LOL cause i get them all the time.

  • Well, maybe you are the one that isn't normal

  • Hey i just made a comment no need to get weird. I had curly hair when i was a baby and i have swimmers hair as well.

  • how long did you have your dreads in?

  • i still have them in

it's been 3 years and a couple of months

  • I just combed ALL of mine out to do a lil bigger. It took a week! But it was worth it.

  • boing!

  • were your dreads back combed or like twisted

  • they were twisted like coils, not the two strand kind

  • cool!

  • why is hair coming out while your taking the dreads off?

  • because thats what dreads are made up of

all the hair that you would normally shed, is what makes up most of the dread

  • i was already thinking about taking my locks out, just wasn't sure how...until i saw this video in November of last year, it took me almost a week and countless bottles of conditioner, now I just twisted up again! Luv your videos!

  • i combed mine out about a year ago. &nd it took two weeks! Lol.

  • styll single?

  • omg thta it is a long task.i went through had my dreads 4 about a 1 and a half and jus decided to work a natural

  • i've been seeing this around too. at first i thought that maybe people's hair wasn't completely loced, but after two years there's no way your hair would not be loced. it's just extremely time consuming and cutting it all off is most def a lot easier...

  • you look great with dreads but um...once in a while like oncce every 6 mntz maybe u cud hot comb it

  • ur cute

  • you are gorgeous sweetheart

  • I am combing my locs out right now, thanks to your video. Cant wait to wear my big curls!!!

  • Can this method work for latched locks?

  • Juando15 made a vid about taking one of his out and they were interlocked

  • what method did you use to create n maintain ur locks?

  • i got them using the coil gel twist thingies (i'm not sure of the real name)

i maintain them using the twisting/palm rolling method

  • what type of cume did u use?

  • OMG that was amazing, I thought it was a myth!!!!

  • hey i was wondering do you have to start off with your hair short or can you just go get them with long permed hair?

  • you cant have permed hair because it wont loc up.

the length doesnt matter though, as long as your hair is natural

  • alright thanks

  • please dont tell me you already took them all out! they are really cool! my friend took his out and i was so mad!!

  • Can you remove dreads even if they are done with the pin/interlocking hook

  • i'm not sure

it seems like it'd be way harder than when they're just twisted, but you can always try!

  • i need dreads cuz i dunno what else to do with my hair....am15 yrs old....i might get another perm but i dont want to. i need dreadlocks so i dont have to comb them cuz my mom said im not good with combing my hair thats why she got me the perm.

  • scoobydoorules15:

I understand your frustration of combing and perming your hair but don't use locs as a way out to not doing your hair, because best believe you have to maintain your locs just like you would any other hairstyle. Not to mention you must really take care of your locs while they are maturing and loc'ing, its going to be a journey, just make sure you know your hair is not going to fully loc over night...some people's hair take 3 months, 6months, and some a year.

  • well technically u dnt have to maintain em but thats trife lol
