It's legal in most U.S. cities and it is in the one I'm near. :) It seems some store owners don't know the laws, though, so I printed them off and carry it in my car. I was only hassled one time by a store manager - never had a problem since. It's still best to leave if someone from the store asks you to leave. :) Oh, and if the dumpster is locked then obviously you're not allowed to get in that one. Thanks for the comment!
Haha! Well, he clearly doesn't know how to define trash...heehee! ;) It ain't trash if it's clean and still good (not rotten/expired). What would our ancestor's think of all the stuff people throw away now, I wonder! I bet Laura Ingalls Wilder wouldn't believe her eyes if she saw all the oranges I've found in dumpsters... she'd only get one every Christmas/year! :D
@AMomentWithRachael i know right??? its ok if i get other stuff like clothes and such but not food so i decided to not take the food until i move out and needless to say they wont come to my house teehee! so much more food for me and my 2 friends
@AMomentWithRachael sweet... i have been a "diver" since first grade! hehe i noticed a bag of cereal in one of the trash cans and i took it out and stuffed it in my pants cuz i didnt want anyone to see it... i believe i ate it at lunch :)
Great Finds! I love watching your videos and seeing all your dive finds!
Curious, have you ever been caught? Also How to you freeze your broccoli? I would love to see more videos on what you do with all the produce you find when out dumpster diving. Have a Blessed Week!
I was caught once. It was just a tad embarrassing. Some manager guy at an office supply place tried to tell me the law stated you have to PAY for the things you take out of their dumpster! Bwahaha... I was glad I had already spoken to a local deputy... silly office man. The law says no such thing! With the broccoli I just cut it up the way I would if I were stir frying it or steaming it, then put it in a freezer baggie. Nothing special. :)
My kids LOVE those cheez its lol thats so much food/money wasted. Its hard to watch a vid and NOT think of all the food being thrown away and how many familys that go hungry every day. Im just glad there are ppl like you that go out and salvage what they can : ) More ppl need to get invloved!
Thank you! I wish I could share with you - it may take me a few months to eat those... my kids are allergic to gluten/dairy. :) I agree! I really wish places like Costco, WalMart, and Home Depot wouldn't throw away things where you can't get them. It's sad looking at all the inaccessible crushers/dumpsters.
awesome keep doing it XD also do you go at night or during the day?? XD

@RogueCrockett
Thank you! Mostly during the day, but when I can I got at night. It just doesn't happen often since I have four kids usually with me. :)
