@christm5 are ypou serious LOL!!! if your speaking in terms of musical scores, no they are not different, Hans Zimmer composed the scores for both movies, and actually Zimmer originally said the main Batman theme was purposely introduced at the end of Batman Begins, and would be fleshed out in the sequel as the character develops.[3] Zimmer and Howard both believed that creating a heroic theme that a viewer could hum would ignore the complexity and darkness of the character.

@KalelClarkKent82 Oh God, please, have some vague idea of what you're talking about before you post. Just because the same composers have done the scores doesn't mean they are the SAME.

Both Nolan and Zimmer, when talking about the Dark Knight score, clearly establish that there is going to be "a key new musical element", just as there is a key new character: the Joker.

Thus, we have the Joker theme, which runs throughout the entire TDK score and of necessity changes its character completely.
