If the Peacock really means as much to the company as they say it does, they'd air this before every nationally broadcast NBC program throughout 2012.
You know, when you think about it, color television was an amazing invention. Taking that analog black and white system and then adding color information to it without causing everyone to have to change frequencies or black and white sets... ingenious!
@clarkekiss Laramie was a show that aired on NBC from 1959 to 1963, and this updated version of the peacock was introduced before an episode at the beginning of the last season.
It most likely was the original copy introduced during the 1962-63 season, while it was dubbed over so many times later in the 60's and into the 70's which would explain the clarity of it.
The Late Mel Brandt was in great voice on this logo! His voice could also be heard on NBC's "THe Doctors" which was sponsered by Colgate Palmolive Company, and ran for years til it was cancelled.Today,a show called The Doctors but not a soap airs on some NBC Stations.Brainy,Brainman Media
I miss the Laramie Pelicans, myself. Not as graceful as the Peacocks, granted... but still rather draw-jopping. I mean, jaw-dropping. That's the beer typing, I'm sorry.
@TelephoneRock4ever I agree with You This Classic NBC Peacock is the greatest logo ever used in TV. I love the music I do not know what about it was so scary to so many people
how well do i remember this logo brings back memires.

When I was a kid, I use to refer to the NBC peacock as "the walla-la-wa," because of that little flute run at the end.

As seen on "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "Star Trek".

What show was this taken from, anyway? It's clearer than any I've seen yet.

This logo has more artistic value than some feature films I've seen.

The composer of that logo music, btw, is by a Mexican composer by the name of Carlos Surinac.

If only we could find a version without the narration ... I'd love to hear it with just the music.

The best color/colour indent from the 1960s.

This looks almost HD. I believe the peacock used on the first Tonight Show with Conan o'Brien wasn't so clear as this one is.

I remember Conan put this at the beginning of his first ep of the Tonight Show as a nod to Johnny Carson. Nice touch. :)
