They are still the same fuel pump, word is though is that there will soon be a newly designed fuel pump out for this engine... Not worried though BMW did extend the warranty on the fuel system to 10 years..
Your car doesn't sound stock...maybe that's why the dealer is refusing to fix it--voided warranty. There was a recall on faulty fuel pumps for the 07/08 335i. Long crank is the main symptom.
your HPFP is dying. common issue.
