I visited Cornwall once. It was very sunny and warm. The people are very nice. At night they chant invocations to the moon and summon the spirits of darkness. They like to hold orgies which anyone is free to participate in. No-one works and they all laze about during the day drinking beer. At the summer solstice they build a wickerman in which they burn an innocent tourist. Cornwall is a lovely place which I plan to visit often.
Cornwall has been part of England for nearly a millenium. If the English kingdoms reverted to the borders of 838 AD, Edinburgh would be part of the Northumbrian kingdom and not part of Scotland.
@theinfinatetroll Your names noted my handsome. When us Lanner boys lead the van guard assult across the bridge your having a Large Rowes Steak in the mush! Right on my beauties! Long live The CRA!

@JohnPurchaseArt A study research done by a university in London 5 days ago has proven that 50% of all Britons have German blood and without the Scots and the Welsh the percentage is much higher XD. English people aren't Celts we are a mix of Norman, Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian and some Irish famine immigrants.
First of all I think that he should be made to eat as much cornish pasty, saffron cake, scones-cornish clotted cream-and jam; and be made to eat as much cornish vanilla ice-cream with those cadbury flake sticks shoved in the top; and made to drink as much 'Cornwall-Wine' or Blackthorn Dry-Hard-Cider until he is totally hooked. And then we set him loose upon the rest of the british isles.
Why do these groups even exist? The CNLA, FWA, IRA, ELD. Union makes nations strong, after all a famous quote would be 'untied we stand, divided we fall'.
HA! I love the hot pasty in the face at the end....I live in Michigan's upper peninsula We have allot of Cornish descendants here and love pasties! Is that what you call em?
@ivegotamagicstix really? that's interesting. i'm up here in canada and i don't think cornish when i think of that part of ontario just above you. maybe i'm just ignorant. when i think of cornish in canada, i think of the east coast.

the only decent thing to come out of the desolate wastleand of cornwall is the beaches and the cornish pasty! Nothing else LOL! Another part of the UK England should get rid of along with the bucky drinking jocks LOL!
@TheLordrochester Not quite as without the steam driven engine you would not have had the industrial revolution. the steam engine and all things related were invented in cornwall. cornish put USA Australia South Africa and parts of south America on the map and developed many industries in those places. As did most other celtic peoples around the world we lived worked and integrated with people from anywhere we went...unlike the anglo saxons who only opressed, exploited and discriminated
Weirdly your speaking in anglo-saxon, and that was a pretty shit comment of yours seen as 120million celts in the world have achieved less than my 80 million of my warrior race, oppressed exploited discriminated? give me 1 instance on that happening.
If you are born in Redruth..I don't think that you can much more 'cornish' than that. But to make it official I would recommend eathing a cornish pasty; cornish ice-cream; and of course that clotted-cream on jam and those cornish scones, I believe. and that would do it.
Oi... you can fuck right off! I have had to put up with the wankers in gov't since the Traitor Blair became PM, & watch another twat keep the seat warm before having the leadership ripped from his dirty, gangrenous claw... & now a fuckwit and his bitch take over!
Cornwall helped vote them in... Cornwall will suffer like the rest of us... we let the Jocks, Taffs & Paddies out of our sight for TWO MINUTES, more damage was done to the UK than achieved since 1066!
i reli fink tht cornish people should be happy wiv wot thy got i mean fair nuff thy add a kin n were their own country but tht ended cuz england was juss too powerful ho do thy fink thy are gunna fair now when they have no muny, how are thy gunna keep an economy running n i reli dnt fink ne of em are smart enuff to be a leader ne way.

You may be interested in looking up Alex989Ys Video. It sums up better then the way I have argued your lack of Celtic genes. The vast majority of indiginious people of this island have been hear for a thousands of years
I was held hostage by the P.P.P.F. The Padstow People's Popular Front. I was made to eat overpriced fish dinners, stargaizy pie, Ginsters pasty, cream teas and Junket milk jelly, and they made to drink gallons of Tribute Ale. Then my wife said I had to go home.
Can I go back to organize this poor chap's release?
ALBIONTYKE, the native Cornish could easily be Celts - through their culture, society and linguistic tradition. But just not racially (i.e. DNA).
As I understand it the latest DNA research (e.g. the Oxford Research Group) are reporting (75% +) of the Irish and Brits are of the same stock. If anyone has some serious recent research that says otherwise I'd be interested.
It seems that whilst the "English" stewed in Anglo Saxon culture, many of the rest soaked in Celtic culture.
You just dont get it do you. I am not challenging Cornwalls status or ancient rights for 1 min. I am challenging your termanology as to who the REAL Celts were & WHEN they migrated to this island. Is it that difficult to understand ?
So your information is credible ! Mine is according to you wrong, despite the writing of many scholars on the subject (I am not a scholar) Move away from Cornish romantics and read some info on the Celts from people outside of your country. Are you saying the La Tenne culture were not Celtic ? Funny because they thought they were. They had no idea that some guys north of France were parading as Celts at the same time as them. They must have been well sickened off when they came here & found out.
The issue is Cornwall's right to Celtic 'membership'. It remains fundamentally unchallenged - by romantics and non-romantics alike. Do not presume to display such arrogance that you apparently have no respect for the bodies officially acknowledging Kernow's status. It's a shame that the 'scholars' you speak of have been unable to officially challenge Kernow's status. And neither will they be able to, I suspect.
A DNA test on myself may scientifically map my ethnic structure and may prove or disprove whether my genetic structure is predominately Celtic or otherwise..... however it will never tell you or anyone else what the precise demographic picture was in terms of specific Celtic migration many many centuries ago. All we have is a dominant map of history which is largely 'suggestive'. The dominant - decidedly unromantic - picture of our history/people has yet to be challenged in a credible manner.
Have you ever read where Celtics tribes came from and when the Celts came to this island ? Or would that spoil your romantic mytholygy ? If your stating that the word Celt is nothing more than a loose term, ok your Celtic. So because I hail from Yorkshire I am a Viking then ? They dominated my neck of the woods for years but never a majority in the population. Start with something simple like the Google search box then buy a few books & get back to me when you have learned a bit more.
But my 'romantic mythology', confirms to that perpetuated by every body supporting Celtic Cornwall's status. You are presenting impossible demographic precision ignored by the volume of CREDIBLE sources to substantiate Celtic Cornwall's status. It's not JUST the Cornish people who appreciate their Celtic history. Your presentation presupposes that you are presenting radical new information which will suddenly put Celtic status in 'remission' and discredit official (non-romantic) status.
In the sense that 'retrospective demographics' CANNOT POSSIBLY be stated with anything like accuracy, precision - and therefore meaning, it may be possible to say that anyone's perspective of who they are and where they came from is fundamentally 'loose', therefore a Viking you MAY be.
My stance is simple Nothing against what Cornwall wants. Just that the Celts you are talking about were not Celts but nomads. The Celts migrated here & ruled but only ever represented maximum 10% of the population anywhere in what is now England & Wales (Cornwall). Our indiginious bloodline is much older than the Celts. More of England is watered down with Anglo-Saxon blood than Wales or Cornwall I accept. You yourself have a classic Ancient Briton look. The Celts were tall & fair. Thats all
Thing is Bungay. I think a lot of Cornish confuse pre non Anglo-Saxon/Norman as Celtic. I once saw a TV doc about some Cornish people taking DNA tests to establish if they were predominantly Celtic blood or not. The test concluded that many were, but in the test they were refering to all pre Anglo-Saxons as Celts. In fact not untill the 18th century were the Cornish were refered to as Celts. I suppose it gave them a sense of belonging as the Celts did influence thier culture a great deal.
Again, I suggest all of the evidence to disprove Cornwall as a Celtic nation, and the Cornish as a Celtic people be taken and promoted to the fullest extent. There is no 'agenda' for bodies, committees, or organisations to substantiate a false 'myth' of Celtic 'membership'. Let questions of history challenge our people and origins; I assure you it will change nothing because the 'evidence' of counter-argument is not credible. On a larger scale, it may be said that we all originate from Africa...
"Finally, is this some sort of video/drama experiment - or the real deal?" ...................... The Pasty in the face should be a strong clue that this video is a satire. I actually think it's done in poor taste (the video, not the pasty), and doesn't educate people, which is the whole problem. People need information, not distraction.
@C/C..They gave us the Celtic languages & what is now Welsh/Cornish/ Breton originated from them. Hence the name of high in Yorkshire is still today called Pen-y ghent. The so called Celtic cross for instance long predates Celtic migration. The Ancient Britons were small dark haired people ( like a smaller version of Welshman Ryan Giggs) The Celts were tall blue eyed & with red of fair hair. Most Britons did not run west from the Agles & Saxons, thats why most indiginious English are not blonde
I don't dispute that there is some Celtic history in England, even if there is not enough conclusive information to determine a distinct division - as is clearly the case for all other Celtic nations - Cornwall included. Please understand, Cornwall was not even party to the Act of Union, so it's not a case of debating independence with you or anyone. Cornwall WAS independent, and LEGALLY still is. This independence has been 'forgotten' in favour of assimilation-by-stealth.
Are you presenting an 'anti-Cornish right to independence' perspective, or are you doubting the Celtic bloodline of the Cornish? The facts supporting a right to Cornish independence are conclusive. Their 'foreign' status on the British Isles has unequivocally been linked to Celtic displacement. To come up with precise demographics ("10%") which are supposed to retrospectively 'disprove' Celtic predominance or 'purity' is the reason why Cornwall as a Celtic nation, retains its full integrity.
@celticornish. The poor Cornish summers bit was just a dig to wind you up, although itis true if you check it out. On the real matter of the Celts, I have read many books and exchanged emails with many peole over the years many from mainland Europe. What you call the Celts are Ancient Britons that trecked accross from France thousands of years before the Celts arrived. The Celts migrated to what is now the UK & ROI. They were a much more advanced culture than the natives and dominated.
Weather doesn't interest me. I agree; the Celts were the original Britons. I don't disagree with your points on who the Celts were and where they came from. They established themselves in the British Isles, and the Celtic settlers in Cornwall were the Celtic cousins of the Welsh. Cornwall was known as 'West Wales', and it was a specific land of Celtic people who spoke a Celtic language which was somewhat similar to Welsh. The Cornish Celts were referred to as 'foreigners' by their neighbours.
There is no Cornish economy; it's an English economy in Cornwall. The economic situation in Cornwall is akin to the slave whose master reminds him that although he has a chain around his ankle, he is 'free' to have a roof over his head and a little food on his plate. Perpetuation in unjust subservience is no substitute for the freedom to start over and build one's own future. He who elects comfort over freedom ultimately looses both. Difficult choices through tough times yield best rewards.
I'm not offering a road map to independent prosperity. What I am saying is that true freedom under justice is the only starting point for a future with integrity; but I'll concede that most people will readily trade comfort/security and a perpetuation of the 'status quo' for injustice. I for one, happen to think it's a poor trade. I agree; the toughest of times would ensue. It would be the price for true freedom... there's nothing to cushion that blow. Tourists have the right to tour.
Its a misconception that the Cornish are Celts. The Celts originated from middle Europe then treked to northern Spain. Some migrated to places we today know as Cornwall for instance, but they never represented more than 10% of the Cornish population, they just controlled and dominated a people we now call Ancient Britons. Another misconception is Cornish summers. On average places as far north as Leeds have warmer summers. You palms flourish only because you have very mild winters as in Ireland.
You may want to present your historical evidence and considerable research to the many official bodies and researchers who - without necessarily having an emotional bias - overwhelmingly support the facts that the Cornish are a Celtic people who spoke a Celtic language, in a Celtic land. Why not present this information to the other Celtic nations too, since your body of research must also address them as displaced Celts also. What have warmer summers got to do with anything important?
True, but I've never endorsed liberalism or promoted my viewpoints as those of a liberalist. Despite what some people believe, liberalism is not a perfect model for freedom - especially in the contemporary political structure, where lies and corruption flourish. My viewpoint is purely based on rights which should never have been breached in the first place. I must add that this is just my viewpoint; I don't profess to speak for all Cornish people, and I'll admit my opinions are ideological.
The Cornish have no need to seek violence or affinity with violent groups to achieve their objectives. Most Celts seek to make progress peacefully and by lawful means through education and awareness. Cornish rights exist; we really just need to keep bringing those rights to the attention of your 'honouable' politicians! History and the law is on our side - violence never solves problems. Why do you think that the word 'Celt' is synonymous with the IRA. Another display of ignorance on your part.
The Cornish just want to have a duchy under the Queen of England and a sort of home rule given to them as is given to the Welsh and Scots. I see nothing wrong with that given that it is not federalism and it is still a subject of Great Britain.
You'd have to survey the 500,000+ people in Cornwall to determine what they want as a whole. What is healthy in the long-term may not, however, be a vote-able option or even deemed 'desirable' by some. Fundamentally, Cornwall does not differ from any other Celtic nation, and by rights and justice alone, none should have anything to do with the Queen of England or the rule of another nation. It may be difficult for some people to make the hardest choices which are associated with true freedom.
Re: a 'duchy under the Queen of England' - Cornwall already is this, and this is not how it was historically, or should be in essence. As such, Cornwall retains a fundamentally confused status. The people of a duchy should never find themselves paying taxes to their duchy as well as to the crown of another nation.
You also have faith in politicians! I've heard it all now! Believe what you want - ignorance is - after all -bliss! You are an ignorant racist, and openly admit the latter. You are not worthy of my time and have challenged NOTHING on an intellectual level. I truly pity you.
And... on what basis are you arrogant enough to say you know better than the historians and researchers - many of whom are not even Cornish and have no emotional reason to defend the Cornish nation. I doubt you have actually done any research since you present no challenge that isn't based on simple prejudice. Your arrogance and ignorance and simple hate know not bounds. Hate actually remains the ONLY thing you can reasonably demonstrate every time you make another pointless comment.
Another display of intelligence and fair-mindedness, as you repeatedly open your mouth and let your belly rumble. Again you do your nation a great disservice while your ignorance and arrogance only strengthens support for Celtic reason and justice. Continue in your display of both arrogance and ignorance; I ASSURE YOU, you will be aiding us in our quest far more than you will ever know or appreciate!
I see that Intelligence prevails with you(!); you're demonstrating the same racism you apparently hate so much in the video you advised me to watch! Your brand of racism is also an all-knowing display of ignorance and arrogance. Rather than me telling you that your nation is all the same in its ignorance, I will invite just one of you to react INTELLIGENTLY and without PREJUDICE to the issue. You are CLEARLY unqualified to represent your nation because of your racist attitude toward the Cornish.
You have proved to me that - beyond a shadow of a doubt - you know NOTHING about why Celtic people are upset at the British government. You know NOTHING about why Celtic nations have the official backing and support they have in Europe. You know NOTHING about the intelligent people putting great time and effort into bringing REAL injustice to light. Our Stannary Parliament has 'evolved' to become exactly what your nation has allowed it to be; and THAT'S the real problem - not racists in Padstow!
A few people rambling incoherently in Padstow tells you all you need to know about the injustices committed against Kernow/the Cornish? Are you serious? You really think that the depth of the issue is based on racism & half-baked notions of regionalism? I REALLY SUGGEST YOU DO MORE RESEARCH, but you won't because you have decided that racism and ignorance at a local gathering says everything you need to know. Shame on them for being racist, shame on you for letting that video be your 'research'.
Shall I look at a Darkie Day video made by a biased Youtuber or shall I look in your Anglo Saxon chronicles for the truth? It is you who is talking shit with your validating by means of providing laughable 'evidence' through association to people's Youtube videos and movie clips! Have you done a day's research in your life? Don't waste my time. I have history on my side - including that put forward by your Anglo Saxon chronicles.
During the 1549 Anglo-Cornish war, English and foreign mercenaries killed 4,000 Cornish fighters before moving into Cornwall and in total slaughtered up to 11% of its population before the butchery was stopped - with families deprived of their menfolk and livelihoods, the true figure of deaths caused by this barbaric crime accounted for 20% of the Cornish population. Long live the OOOH ARRGGH AAAA!
Incorrect. Counties - as you refer to them are zones of English territory; Celtic Cornwall was a Celtic Nation which existed before Anglo Saxon England. The Cornish Celts inhabited the south-western British isles as other Celts inhabited other areas. Fact: the Cornish teamed with the Danish Vikings in 722 to defend against a specific Anglo Saxon threat. Fact: the English made no fundamental challenge to Cornish territory or independence for centuries after this.
Also, you may want to tell the Scots, the Manx, the Welsh and/or the Irish that they should also be 'respected' as Englishmen, because they are of Celtic origin - also.
Incorrect. The English conducted a specific and determined offensive against the Kernewek-speaking Cornish people in 1498 and 1549. 4000 Cornish marched in demonstration and were killed or strongly 'discouraged'. And you wonder why there is a strength of feeling? Read history, or remain trapped in your bigotry and bitterness.
You are the one emphasising Duchy status. I mentioned that it has a very specific circumstances and rights which add to that status. I agree that Duchy status alone does not give right to independence. You cannot seem to help yourself when it comes to using insults. If you believe that the extent of Cornish culture (or any other culture) is restricted to food items, you sink further down in my estimations as it relates to presenting anything remotely interesting. Read more, insult others less.
Where do we see a specific culture represented by a historical/specific Northern English flag - defined by it's historical language and historically cultural traits? The Danes spoke Danish, the Cornish spoke Kernewek. Your convoluted examples do not compare like for like. You 'forget' that the Cornish nation is a specific Celtic nation which was deliberately and selectively breeched; it's people forced to speak English on pain of death. Like many others, you compare apples and oranges...
@Premium101. There you go again with "lunatics". These 'lunatics' are so because you define them as such.Unfortunately, you are one voice representing a biased view which flies in the face of facts, as we know them. You insult myself and my culture and I take exception to it. You have no respect and as such I can have no respect for you. Leaning Kernewek is the right and option of all people, and to the Cornish it remains an expression of their Cornishness, for which you apparently remain bitter
I have a general question. Why do non-Cornish people take such objection to Cornish people seeking espect for and just consideration of, their UNCHANGED historical rights? What inspires the bitterness from those who fail to acknowledge the paper-trail which clearly justifies the issue? We continue to see such vivid displays of wholesale ignorance/arrogance in the form of insults, ridicule and anger. Research PROVES that Cornwall has specific, unique rights. The issue ends there.
Cornish tourism is in fact, English tourism. The Cornish economy, is the English economy. The Cornish Tourist Board is the English Tourist Board. Until such time as Cornish rights are respected and honoured, Cornwall will remain a hijacked nation, subject to the rules of it's hijacker's economy. Your tourism 'defense' is like telling a slave he's never had it so good because he has a roof over his head and food on his plate. There is no such thing as healthy or progressive subservience.
@Premium101. You present no defence here. Playing on words ending in ISH is neither clever or defensive. FACT: Cornwall existed before England, and remained independent from England up until the 1800s. FACT: Cornish people were speaking Cornish before the English thought to challenge either the boundaries or culture of the Cornish people. Sure there are other Duchies, yet none can present such clear boundaries of origin and culture being so overtly breached by a different culture.
@Premium101 "no case" - in the context of what I've outlined, what balanced, rational information can you present to support this? I put it to you that Cornwall - in your humble opinion - has "no case" simply because either; you say so, or you are emotionally objectionable towards it.
@Premium101 "its usually the ramblings of men who will one day be in a white room eating flies". Your choice is not to accept facts and ridicule those who present you with them. This is arrogance and ignorance; it contributes nothing and does not strengthen a case for your cause of discrediting Cornwall's case.
Kernow did not exist IN ENGLAND - ENGLAND existed ALONGSIDE IT. How difficult can it be to understand the nature of this issue? It's not a case of perpetuating the status quo as far as 'acceptable' politics embraced by the contemporary mainstream is concerned. JUSTICE is based on rules which conform to RIGHTS, not political polemic or the failure of our rulers to address matters for which they have no interest or motivation. Kernow's rights remain to this day
@Premium101 Ignorance is bliss. (1) 'ISH' denotes specific cultural origin; it's a conflict of identity to 'be' Cornish AND English. (2) Since the Cornish never originally SPOKE English, they cannot possibly BE English. (3) Kernow is a historical duchy, NOT a county. There has been no decree to officially make it part of England by legal/illegal means, so it's rights STILL EXIST.
I guess you didn't read my other points - Cornwall DOES have grounds - it's people like you who simply fail to recognise them because you selectively choose not to. That's not OUR problem, it's YOURS.
Ignorance is bliss. Your notion of 'crap' is identical to that which politicians speak when they flatulate from their mouths & perpetuate ignorance.
The notion of Cornish independence must therefore - in your opinion - be hilarity based on an apparent utopia of political status quo and acceptable dominance/control via fascism... for shame. Independence in this context, isn't a 'thought' or a PROGRESSIVE GOAL, it's a LEGAL RIGHT endorsed by LEGAL FACTS. The Cornish people drawing attention to it are not ASKING for it, they are DEMANDING it, based on what Cornish rights are. Deny ANY nation it's rights and you are a FASCIST, by any definition.
Oh my God ! If their demands are not met there may be more of this Pasty in face violence. We must enter a dialogue with these people and heed their warning before more suffer the same. Recall Parliament, where's the aircraft carriers... LOL !!

Bungay4 1 year ago
You just dont get it do you. I am not challenging Cornwalls status or ancient rights for 1 min. I am challenging your termanology as to who the REAL Celts were & WHEN they migrated to this island. Is it that difficult to understand ?
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
So your information is credible ! Mine is according to you wrong, despite the writing of many scholars on the subject (I am not a scholar) Move away from Cornish romantics and read some info on the Celts from people outside of your country. Are you saying the La Tenne culture were not Celtic ? Funny because they thought they were. They had no idea that some guys north of France were parading as Celts at the same time as them. They must have been well sickened off when they came here & found out.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
The issue is Cornwall's right to Celtic 'membership'. It remains fundamentally unchallenged - by romantics and non-romantics alike. Do not presume to display such arrogance that you apparently have no respect for the bodies officially acknowledging Kernow's status. It's a shame that the 'scholars' you speak of have been unable to officially challenge Kernow's status. And neither will they be able to, I suspect.
celticcornish 1 year ago
Have you heard of DNA tests ? Look OK then your Celtic
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
A DNA test on myself may scientifically map my ethnic structure and may prove or disprove whether my genetic structure is predominately Celtic or otherwise..... however it will never tell you or anyone else what the precise demographic picture was in terms of specific Celtic migration many many centuries ago. All we have is a dominant map of history which is largely 'suggestive'. The dominant - decidedly unromantic - picture of our history/people has yet to be challenged in a credible manner.
celticcornish 1 year ago
Have you ever read where Celtics tribes came from and when the Celts came to this island ? Or would that spoil your romantic mytholygy ? If your stating that the word Celt is nothing more than a loose term, ok your Celtic. So because I hail from Yorkshire I am a Viking then ? They dominated my neck of the woods for years but never a majority in the population. Start with something simple like the Google search box then buy a few books & get back to me when you have learned a bit more.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
But my 'romantic mythology', confirms to that perpetuated by every body supporting Celtic Cornwall's status. You are presenting impossible demographic precision ignored by the volume of CREDIBLE sources to substantiate Celtic Cornwall's status. It's not JUST the Cornish people who appreciate their Celtic history. Your presentation presupposes that you are presenting radical new information which will suddenly put Celtic status in 'remission' and discredit official (non-romantic) status.
celticcornish 1 year ago
In the sense that 'retrospective demographics' CANNOT POSSIBLY be stated with anything like accuracy, precision - and therefore meaning, it may be possible to say that anyone's perspective of who they are and where they came from is fundamentally 'loose', therefore a Viking you MAY be.
celticcornish 1 year ago

ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
Again, I suggest all of the evidence to disprove Cornwall as a Celtic nation, and the Cornish as a Celtic people be taken and promoted to the fullest extent. There is no 'agenda' for bodies, committees, or organisations to substantiate a false 'myth' of Celtic 'membership'. Let questions of history challenge our people and origins; I assure you it will change nothing because the 'evidence' of counter-argument is not credible. On a larger scale, it may be said that we all originate from Africa...
celticcornish 1 year ago
Hi, 4 questions:
I'd be interested to know how you define the Cornish & the Celts? Do you think it can it be identified in the DNA? i.e. is it racial?
Also how do you feel about "English" people living & working in Cornwall? Would you like them to leave Cornwall?
What would you think if an Anglo Saxon League was established in "England"? How do you think the other 15% plus would feel?
Finally, is this some sort of video/drama experiment - or the real deal?

@C/C..They gave us the Celtic languages & what is now Welsh/Cornish/ Breton originated from them. Hence the name of high in Yorkshire is still today called Pen-y ghent. The so called Celtic cross for instance long predates Celtic migration. The Ancient Britons were small dark haired people ( like a smaller version of Welshman Ryan Giggs) The Celts were tall blue eyed & with red of fair hair. Most Britons did not run west from the Agles & Saxons, thats why most indiginious English are not blonde
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
I don't dispute that there is some Celtic history in England, even if there is not enough conclusive information to determine a distinct division - as is clearly the case for all other Celtic nations - Cornwall included. Please understand, Cornwall was not even party to the Act of Union, so it's not a case of debating independence with you or anyone. Cornwall WAS independent, and LEGALLY still is. This independence has been 'forgotten' in favour of assimilation-by-stealth.
celticcornish 1 year ago
Are you presenting an 'anti-Cornish right to independence' perspective, or are you doubting the Celtic bloodline of the Cornish? The facts supporting a right to Cornish independence are conclusive. Their 'foreign' status on the British Isles has unequivocally been linked to Celtic displacement. To come up with precise demographics ("10%") which are supposed to retrospectively 'disprove' Celtic predominance or 'purity' is the reason why Cornwall as a Celtic nation, retains its full integrity.
celticcornish 1 year ago
@celticornish. The poor Cornish summers bit was just a dig to wind you up, although itis true if you check it out. On the real matter of the Celts, I have read many books and exchanged emails with many peole over the years many from mainland Europe. What you call the Celts are Ancient Britons that trecked accross from France thousands of years before the Celts arrived. The Celts migrated to what is now the UK & ROI. They were a much more advanced culture than the natives and dominated.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
Weather doesn't interest me. I agree; the Celts were the original Britons. I don't disagree with your points on who the Celts were and where they came from. They established themselves in the British Isles, and the Celtic settlers in Cornwall were the Celtic cousins of the Welsh. Cornwall was known as 'West Wales', and it was a specific land of Celtic people who spoke a Celtic language which was somewhat similar to Welsh. The Cornish Celts were referred to as 'foreigners' by their neighbours.

Cut all links with London, leave the UK and the EU? I assume you don't want English tourists either?
What would happen to the Cornish economy if those demands were met? As the economy crashed you would soon lose your best and brightest.
Bungay4 1 year ago
There is no Cornish economy; it's an English economy in Cornwall. The economic situation in Cornwall is akin to the slave whose master reminds him that although he has a chain around his ankle, he is 'free' to have a roof over his head and a little food on his plate. Perpetuation in unjust subservience is no substitute for the freedom to start over and build one's own future. He who elects comfort over freedom ultimately looses both. Difficult choices through tough times yield best rewards.
celticcornish 1 year ago
Thanks celticcornish for your reply.
So you think "There is no Cornish economy". But I still don't understand how you think Cornwall would make its living in the world?
You would cut all links with London, leave the UK and the EU ... and (presumably) keep the tourists out.
Also - look up how college education in Cornwall is funded, that would have to go .... as would your young people.
Are you advocating "freedom and inevitable deepening poverty" for Cornwall? That's what it seems like.
Bungay4 1 year ago
I'm not offering a road map to independent prosperity. What I am saying is that true freedom under justice is the only starting point for a future with integrity; but I'll concede that most people will readily trade comfort/security and a perpetuation of the 'status quo' for injustice. I for one, happen to think it's a poor trade. I agree; the toughest of times would ensue. It would be the price for true freedom... there's nothing to cushion that blow. Tourists have the right to tour.
celticcornish 1 year ago
Its a misconception that the Cornish are Celts. The Celts originated from middle Europe then treked to northern Spain. Some migrated to places we today know as Cornwall for instance, but they never represented more than 10% of the Cornish population, they just controlled and dominated a people we now call Ancient Britons. Another misconception is Cornish summers. On average places as far north as Leeds have warmer summers. You palms flourish only because you have very mild winters as in Ireland.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
You may want to present your historical evidence and considerable research to the many official bodies and researchers who - without necessarily having an emotional bias - overwhelmingly support the facts that the Cornish are a Celtic people who spoke a Celtic language, in a Celtic land. Why not present this information to the other Celtic nations too, since your body of research must also address them as displaced Celts also. What have warmer summers got to do with anything important?

Why do you think that the word 'Celt' is synonymous with the IRA. Another display of ignorance on your part.
celticcornish 2 years ago
The Cornish just want to have a duchy under the Queen of England and a sort of home rule given to them as is given to the Welsh and Scots. I see nothing wrong with that given that it is not federalism and it is still a subject of Great Britain.
Tom101229 2 years ago

Long live the OOOH ARRGGH AAAA!
crowder211 2 years ago
Fact: the English made no fundamental challenge to Cornish territory or independence for centuries after this.
celticcornish 2 years ago
Also, you may want to tell the Scots, the Manx, the Welsh and/or the Irish that they should also be 'respected' as Englishmen, because they are of Celtic origin - also.
celticcornish 2 years ago
Incorrect. The English conducted a specific and determined offensive against the Kernewek-speaking Cornish people in 1498 and 1549. 4000 Cornish marched in demonstration and were killed or strongly 'discouraged'. And you wonder why there is a strength of feeling? Read history, or remain trapped in your bigotry and bitterness.
celticcornish 2 years ago
You are the one emphasising Duchy status. I mentioned that it has a very specific circumstances and rights which add to that status. I agree that Duchy status alone does not give right to independence. You cannot seem to help yourself when it comes to using insults. If you believe that the extent of Cornish culture (or any other culture) is restricted to food items, you sink further down in my estimations as it relates to presenting anything remotely interesting. Read more, insult others less.
celticcornish 2 years ago
Where do we see a specific culture represented by a historical/specific Northern English flag - defined by it's historical language and historically cultural traits? The Danes spoke Danish, the Cornish spoke Kernewek. Your convoluted examples do not compare like for like. You 'forget' that the Cornish nation is a specific Celtic nation which was deliberately and selectively breeched; it's people forced to speak English on pain of death. Like many others, you compare apples and oranges...
celticcornish 2 years ago
@Premium101. There you go again with "lunatics". These 'lunatics' are so because you define them as such.Unfortunately, you are one voice representing a biased view which flies in the face of facts, as we know them. You insult myself and my culture and I take exception to it. You have no respect and as such I can have no respect for you. Leaning Kernewek is the right and option of all people, and to the Cornish it remains an expression of their Cornishness, for which you apparently remain bitter
celticcornish 2 years ago
I have a general question. Why do non-Cornish people take such objection to Cornish people seeking espect for and just consideration of, their UNCHANGED historical rights? What inspires the bitterness from those who fail to acknowledge the paper-trail which clearly justifies the issue? We continue to see such vivid displays of wholesale ignorance/arrogance in the form of insults, ridicule and anger. Research PROVES that Cornwall has specific, unique rights. The issue ends there.
celticcornish 2 years ago
Cornish tourism is in fact, English tourism. The Cornish economy, is the English economy. The Cornish Tourist Board is the English Tourist Board. Until such time as Cornish rights are respected and honoured, Cornwall will remain a hijacked nation, subject to the rules of it's hijacker's economy. Your tourism 'defense' is like telling a slave he's never had it so good because he has a roof over his head and food on his plate. There is no such thing as healthy or progressive subservience.
celticcornish 2 years ago
@Premium101. Sure there are other Duchies, yet none can present such clear boundaries of origin and culture being so overtly breached by a different culture.
celticcornish 2 years ago
@Premium101 "no case" - in the context of what I've outlined, what balanced, rational information can you present to support this? I put it to you that Cornwall - in your humble opinion - has "no case" simply because either; you say so, or you are emotionally objectionable towards it.

There has been no decree to officially make it part of England by legal/illegal means, so it's rights STILL EXIST.
celticcornish 2 years ago

Independence in this context, isn't a 'thought' or a PROGRESSIVE GOAL, it's a LEGAL RIGHT endorsed by LEGAL FACTS. The Cornish people drawing attention to it are not ASKING for it, they are DEMANDING it, based on what Cornish rights are. Deny ANY nation it's rights and you are a FASCIST, by any definition.
