Gilbert can do the neoclassical as well as several other styles. But on the level of technique, they are not much different... and they both have great improvisational sensabilities. But fhe best neoclassical guitarist is Joe Stump. He beats Malmsteen IMHO.

how do you know? maybe yngwie just acts arrogant for his image when he is in front of the cameras, maybe he is a great guy in person and family man, whereas paul gilbert may act all funny and goofy, but beats his hoe or something, ha ha. paul gilbert is more tech and many people can associate better with his music i guess, but yngwie influenced him, and redefined the way guitar is played like EVH in the 70s. people always slagg him off without a decent reason.

In my oppinion the sound is a lot worse than what Yngwie has. Same scales, but different(to be honest crappier) sound.

Yngwie just knows what he likes, I believe since Yngwie has had enough patience to learn to play that fast, he could easily learn to play all sorts off stuff, but he doesnt want to. That doesnt make him "worst", just a musician who doesnt care of anything else of what he wants. That´s the way musician should think IMO.

I cant understand why people call Yngwies later music worst than what it used to be. I understand that since he has had pretty much the same style from year one that it might get "boring" to some people, but I think his music isnt even close to bad these days. I think he just doesnt do so mass fitting music anymore, more of music that only other musicians understand.

and satriani can play all styles and focus on musicality and tone like Randy true neoclassicists(i.e: Uli Jon Roth & Ritchie Blackmore) know its not all about speed but that note choice is more important as is tone and they also know that sweeping is not appropriate as a solo over a 12 bar blues progression( Make sure you pay close attention to that part YJM worshippers) N you know who is better than YJM Albert King and he couldnt play fast maybe you YJM clones should go to a Musical Institute
