Nice effort from cadillac in offering a diesel. But why does it have to be a V8? a V6 is powerful enough, has PLENTY of torque and is even more economical. Just take a look at the very numbers of that BMW 335D.

Maybe the way the body is designed. The more curves it has the faster you need to go for the air not to go into those curves and there for at faster speeds you get better fuel economy

Aside from making it a little ugly, the could help, the whole bases for that is the air getting into those gaps and reducing the aerodynamics of the car but the reason I don't think it worked with matt was because design engineers usually make the car to take more air into the engine compartment so the engine doesn't heat up, the more heat the engine has the more it has to work to produce the same amount of hp & torque

With more heat soaked into the engine block, more of the energy released by the combustion process gets turned into kinetic energy for the piston. Ideally, the air and fuel going into the cylinder should be cold, but if the block and piston are also cold, a lot of the conbustion energy gets absorbed immediately before it can work to expand the gas volume in the cylinder. That's why your car warms up to a certain point in the morning.

Love that Regal GNX.. a little to much power for civilized use, though... also I like the idea of the Diesel CTSV. Why doesn't GM put that powertrain in it's Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade? I mean, yea it's got 20 less HP then a stock Yukon and Tahoe (and 80 less than my Denali or an Escalade), but 520 torques. Five Hundred and Twenty! Two of those in a drag race could spin the world around! Plus, it'd get gas mileage equal or more than the less powerful Hybrid ones.
