  • how do i get the smoke screen

  • what is exactly the funcion of burst?

  • Hey, I wanted to ask you, how do you put videos awesome like that? Do you record by your computer, or is it a special system you use to produce these videos? Cause I've been thinkin for a long time about posting vids of BKO bosses..... =) And I'm not really sure myself priory to how I should record these vids lol.

  • Further add....what sucks the most is that the Japanese version of Chaotic Dance had extra lyrics, but was taken out due to religious references.

  • he did search it in his movies

  • 3:00 that move is so much rape, sagi>Kalas

  • Not only does Giacomo get power, he also gets an upgraded theme song.

    Maybe that's just my opinion.

  • See ya in 20 years Giaco, when your maniatic laugh would not be so high-pitched

  • dude ive seen so many reviews of this game and all of them say it sucks but when i watch these vids i want it so bad >.>

  • 34th Rule of Game Reviewers: All JRPG's suck. Unless they say "Square Enix" on the side.

It's sad, but true. Nobody seems to care about an RPG unless Squeenix's logo is emblazoned on it. I've always found it kind of ironic, to be honest. There are better series' out there.

  • Sad...Namco have a plethora of excellent games, as do Atlus with the SMT series and also the makers of Shadow Hearts. BK deserves to be a mainstay series and should crank out more titles. It's a well conceived universe and deserves more credit.

  • I know exactly what you mean.

I suppose it's because most FPS's and the like are more popular. I'm more of a story person myself, which is why they don't do it for me.

  • You can find deep stories regardless of genre (too general I know), but it depends on who's involved. A good example would be MadWorld and the story was done by the same guy who brought you Vagrant Story and some respects, FFXII. Also, Deadly Creatures comes to mind too.

As for FPS games, not all of them have a strong story, but you have to give the Halo series some credit and in the coming weeks, The Conduit.

I do think Baten Kaitos has a universe worth expanding. Just hoping Monolith...

  • ...delivers a Baten Kaitos game for the Wii. And of course refine the game into the a more involving game in regards of replay value. By that, I mean multiple endings reminiscent of the Chrono series. After all, most of them were behind the series.

  • Oh, don't get me wrong, I know you can find good stories outside of the RPG genre, it's just that there aren't *enough* good stories outside of the RPG genre.

Although, to be blunt, I disagree entirely about Halo having a good story. Alien race and gigantic artifact of doom destroyed by space marine. The way it's presented is entertaining, sure, but on paper the plot itself is reasonably standard stuff.

  • Well, if you're looking at the sci-fi genre from that perspective, then you're correct. But the same can be said about the standard cliches that RPGs reuse for every game (unknown person sets out to rid the world of a god-like entity for example.) But all in all, all stories follows a generic story, but the details, settings, characters, etc...is what make them stand out better.

  • I agree wholeheartedly, and that's my criticism with most games in the FPS genre. While there are some that really stand out, like Half-Life and Deus, the likes of Halo and Gears of War are just same old same old. It's true that a lot of RPG's are similarly cliche, but it's just that I can think of more examples that break the mould.

  • True...but how often do you come across games which are absolutely new and yet still retains the feel?

Then again, some traditional formulas do work (a la Dragon Quest series) when it's not broken, don't fix it.

  • I'm not sure we're really on the same page here. I understand that some follow a generic template more than others, I'm just saying is that I've played more RPG's that break away from the old cliches than I have other games from genres.

  • We're on the same page here. Just that I've diverted a bit from the discussion. But basically, what I'm implying is that on the surface, all games have their cliches, but with some creativity, it can a different monster, just with the same kind of cliches used. But it's not always a bad thing since the formulas work well.

And yes I can agree to your statement regarding RPGs breaking away from old cliches somewhat.

  • Right. Got it. I thought we'd gone off track for a bit, Lol. But yes, I can agree with that.

  • @SeraphimSwordmaster likes the tales series and games like this square enix fanboys need to look at beautfiul games like this

  • @Blastoise101 I don't know... If things we didn't like didn't have fandumbs, we wouldn't be able to look at them and feel better about ourselves.

It's like schadenfreude, really, but without a great musical number and much more SRSBSNZ since it's over the internets.

  • 0_o omg wow 58 hp in the end for milly

  • Giacomo made a very bad pun. Glad you punished him for it.

  • I "punched" him for that...

    *gets bricked*

  • i remember that this fight gave me a bit of a hard time first time thru
