Saudações e sinceros respeitos do Brasil.

  • Ninja Style! x)

  • so ha 1 escola em lisboa

    e no porto?

e k gostva de experimentar JDP

  • Interesting. Is all Jogo do Pau based on circular sweeps? I myself am learning Ving Tsun and its longpole techniques, and those are right about the exact opposite of what's shown here: linear, moving the pole straight towards the target or slightly sideways to deflect or create an opening. Then again not only are kwan probably heavier than the sticks shown here, but also circular sweeps probably are much more effective in combat with multiple opponents.

  • Yes, you can also use straight attacks in JDP, depending on the timing and the openings in you opponent.

If you are talking about a long spear, which is not the case, yes circular movements are impractical in combat.

Nevertheless we test this system in full contact, full speed sparring to keep it real.

Straight attacks are very efficient on one on one, but difficult to get it "rigth", speed, accuracy and timing is the key success.

  • > If you are talking about a long spear

No, kwan are about 3m long tapered poles without any blade that wouldn't penetrate (I think that's why you mentioned spears in particular?), but in my opinion they're also too heavy to be swept quickly, so their battle form might as well include a point. I may be wrong, but the sticks I've seen JDPists swing look pretty light in comparison. Should I ever master Luk Dim Poon Kwan and then visit Portugal, I'll try to fit in a bit of cross-training. :)

  • My kenpo teacher went to Portugal a few years ago and was shown some of the art by his host. It's a very effective art when it comes to dealing with more then one attacker. It's the next art on my list to studying when I'm done with Doce pares and Pekiti tiris.

  • Hy there, who is your kenpo teacher?

    Bob Liles?

I´ve a couple of kenpo friends myself.

  • @lidador

    Greetings from Paris....

Has Portugal ever conquered/occupied any cities or regions in spain?

  • @TapestryBayeux What a silly question!! We conquered hundreds of places around the world, isn't enough for you. What Spain are you talking about? After of Before the actual Spain. I advice you to read some history books, before doing silly questions.

  • as a portuguese i thank you, unfortunately i cant practice because there isnt any school in toronto that i know of, ill have to start with medieval martial arts

  • that was awesome
