she's obviously got an amazing talent although one thing i keep seeing her do is spreading her vowels and it's driving me nuts. this is something that i've recently been able to correct on myself and now i can't help but notice when other people do it. if she fixed that (i'm not aware if she has) and doesn't try to belt out the top note at high volume (which, when she does so, detracts from the note) this piece could be just that much more beautiful. but she definitely has a beautiful voice.

After watching several renditions, I believe this was one of the worst performances (besides the obvious distortion in the recording). She spits out "qui tollis" from an overly large breath, and that first line is just butchered. Her 1997 performance a cappella was better than this.

But for those of us who are musically trained (20 years of formal piano training) she ought to try a little harder on her days of important performances. Sometimes it's forced, sometimes it's natural. When singing opera or classical music, vibrato is usually harder to achieve because it's stronger and more effective. Some people force it by shaking their jaw and some just have a naturally strong vibration in their vocal chords that can cause it but with Charlotte Church, there's always a debate about whether she is shaking her jaw purposely or not.

If a singers bottom jaw is shaking that means that the vibrato is most likely being forced and not being let to spin naturaly. Your bottom jaw should never shake (if you are singing opera corectly) Charlotte Church is a prime example of how NOT to let you voice develope.
