My school is doing a production of I Never Saw Another Butterfly. It is about the thousands of children who passed through Terezin. I play a girl named Ela Hellerova who ended up dieing. The play has taught me that we must be grateful for what we have.
I am from the Netherlands and I'm here this year was during my vacation. Terezin camp is now a museum when you are walking through as a child (I am 13) it is very strange to see. This is a great movie!
My wife and I visited Terezin in May. The day was cold and raining. Our guide said she was always cold there. One could only imagine the terrible conditions during WWII. You cannot see the prison from the higway as you approach it. There is a grass covered berm that hides it from view. We purchased two books which help amplify the story of the concentration camp:
"The Painted Wall" by O.B. Kraus and "Draw What you See" by Helga Weissova - a Terezin survivor.
I've been there once.. It's really sad around there
WWII comes so close when you walk around in the camp, you can almost feel the people who were stuck there, their hearts and their fear.
We were on a trip with my school to Prague and took a guidingtour trough the camp. There was this room and this guide told us to go in there.. We were in there with 25 people it was narrow, he told us that there had been 120 people in there. Imagine.
io voglio ricordare in questo campo di concentramento FELICE RAHEL SCHRAGENHEIM. per sempre. adesso tu DEVI stare bene, perché io te ne voglio tanto, anche se non mi conosci.
schifman, you are to be congratulated, if that's the word. This is beautiful. Absolutely wrenching. Anybody reading this and those interested: go out right now and get "Fireflies in the Dark" and "I Never Saw A Butterfly Again", two children's books about Terazin and Friedl Dicker-Brandeis, an incredible artist who helped children in camp express their terror.
Friedl Brandeis packed art supplies instead of valuables when she entered Terazin. She tought imprisoned there to draw, paint and act. Pictures were stuffed in the attics and walls to keep them from the Nazis--many portrayed the camp: a crime. A young boy, later murdered, wrote for her: "Someday we will outrun this hour--" Of the 15000 kids, only 100 lived.
I visited the camp s few years ago. I was speechless. I learned also about the Red Cross how they covered things for them. My own relatives died at Auschwitz but I don't know if any died at this one
I I stumbled upon this concentration camp that my uncle died in. He was 14,.my Mother and her family were auctioned off to farmers in Austria looking for no-cost labor. My mother said,, "Get paid from the gold from the teeth of my neighborhood friends!". He died 3 days before the camp was liberated, a fellow inmate sought out my family over a number of years and when he found us gave us letters to my Grandmother. i had to reduce the number of words, it may not read right.
How can u say that! WW2 was one of the worst wars of all time with a collective death toll of over 60 million people(including military and civilians).6 million jews were sent to concentration camps and after being starved and tortured were either gased or burnt.Never say Ww2 was one of the "not so bad ones you ignorant asshole
omg so is my school. the pla is called "And a Child Shall Lead" or at least thats the version we are portraying. my character says the last butterfly poem. i play Alena Lederova.
