New World by Charice (English theme song) has practically the exact same arrangement as Mai Fukui's version, except for the arpeggio at the opening present in Mai's version. I believe it should be retitled to "Yakusoku no Basho/New World" as many people aren't aware.
Also, it's easier to play this song compared to Kimi ga iru kara where in Kimi ga iru kara, it's extremely difficult to create harmony without the use of a human voice.
P.S. I prefer New World for FF13's (not FF13-2) ending.
@Stardust96x Sure. Although, it is recommended that you use the original backtrack that does not have the vocal line in the music, which you can purchase from itunes. What you hear in this video is an arrangement of the original for solo piano, so it isn't very suited for which to sing to. Please PM me your e-mail so I can send you the MP3 file. Thanks.
great job on this, glad you're getting this out there so early seeing as yamaha music media corp japan is being so quiet on announcing a tent release date for official ffxiii-2 pc scores, and if the past is any indication its what about 6 months after the japanese debut that they publish? it's nice to see some of this music sooner than than later and again great job on the arranging and musical planning.
As usual, you've done a fantastic job on recreating this piece. I haven't really listened to the original song yet, but I can tell you've done some amazing work here. If I may, I'd like to make a personal review on this piece; it's really good, but in some places the music seems too "plain" then others, making the "plain" places feel like a hole in the ground (this might be because there's no dynamics in this performance like in the sheet music). Anyway, Great work! I hope this helps in future!
@Chanmin2007nz Thanks for your feedback! Yes, that is often the challenge I find in arranging a pop song for piano. The original tends to be more full-bodied with percussion and other sustaining instruments to fill in the gaps, whereas the piano has only one characteristic timbre. I've filled in gaps here and there by adding one or two notes, but for the most part, it's mostly a direct aural transcription. I'll keep your feedback in mind though. Thanks!
@syaoranlove Sorry about that. I have included the direct link in the description now. I seems many people don't notice the navigation bar, so I may consider redesigning my website to make it more prominent. Thanks for the note!
@zeryx28 That is of some relief to me. I bet you can write also something in a more romantic or postromantic style, even though it would mean to go against your baroque nature.
@Maspixxx Haha, why is it a relief? Yeah, not to boast at all, but I am pretty flexible when it comes to style. If I was asked to write a postmodernist piece, I could probably do that no problem. :)
@zeryx28 Nothing special, lack of social interaction, deficiency in non-verbal communication, stereotyped behaviours. If you're very clever you may be considered a genius, but I'm just an ordinary person.
@Maspixxx Oh I see. Well I think everyone has his or her talents and shortcomings. I'd say I'm all right when it comes to social interaction, but I don't know if I am a genius lol. At most, I'll say I'm above average when it comes to some things musical.
@zeryx28 I'd like to make you have some pieces I wrote for organ and piano, but I'm not very familiar with computers, so I write by hand. But if you gave me your mail address in private, I could send you the sheets in an attached file, would you like?
The alternative ending is indeed very nice. very conclusive sounding especially the last note. :D
