  • That treaty reads alot differently than the water boss on this video says it does. The 1944 treaty guarantees 1.5 million acre feet of Colorado River water to Mexico. The penalty agreed to by the USA for failure to let at least 1.5 MAF pass down the river is that the USA must thereupon reduce its own consumption by at least that amount.

    This treaty concerns the Colorado River only, and the US agreed to it because under the USA Winters Doctrine, Mexico has rights to the entire flow of the river

  • Even when it comes to Mexican farmers and the delta - at least they give something back to the river and the sea in the form of the Sienega de Santa Clara.

    I really fear that the consequences of damming the colorado and its life giving silt will have a devastating effect. I really believe it will be an example of what happens when we disturb the natural balance of the planet. You can't remove millions of tons of sediment from the coastline without their being a consequence. U.S. wake up.
