I had an '85 Jetta, got it from a roommate with over 180K on it. Just needed a few repairs,I had no idea how good a car it was considering VW's reputation in the '80s. That little car was great, the only thing that I couldn't do myself was front wheel bearings. I and My girlfriend got a good 10 years out of it,then I sold it to a co worker,who used it several more years, when he finally got rid of it,it had over 300K on it, with the clutch it had when i got it. That GTI should be great.
i love my tornado red 1.8 8v golf gti. 1990 h reg big bumper model, check cloth interior with no wear hole on drivers seat (common problem) pulls well in all gears, gets looks from all walks of life. getting more and more rare as the yrs go by. i have a yr 2000 x reg honda civic vti too, get this though, the golf is worth more than the civic even though its 10 yrs older.
