We have programs that feed the homeless (just google and you'll find a lot of them) and our health care seems like a losing battle because people who run the industry don't want to lose money by reducing the cost of it. My point is through our exploring the solar system we could potential find resources that could GREATLY help us here on earth - create new technologies that could create new jobs. Look at the "Green" revolution with Solar and wind technologies that are starting to create jobs.

I think that religion will remove itself in time as science and technology is more and more capable of satisfying answers that people would otherwise seek in religion. Currency however will not disappear anytime soon unless there is some drastic change in the way our societies work...fat chance!

Word peace is simply not possible unless we change our brain chemistry aka humanity. We can however make it a more peaceful place, just not eliminate it.

Beautiful! Saturn moons crashing through the rings, causing ripple-like waves and the entire system still remains stable. Awesome. Sure these missions cost a lot of money that would be better spent feeding the ones in need. Yet this is a peaceful mission based upon the knowledge that we know (almost) nothing about what there is to know about where we are, what's around us and why.

Agreed 100%, but a small space probe bringing us data so we can have a better idea of our beautiful home solar system is not the worst problem we have right now. War business on planet Earth, CO2 emission, oil drilling, greed of a few powerful people are the real problems. Meanwhile Cassini peacefully brings us pictures of beauty - and what once was called "other worldly" - slowly becomes part of our home. The solar system all works together, we wouldn't be here if one piece was missing.
