and, the roads shown in the above video are now well developed....

  • @lokeshroot 1) There has been major changes since 4 years ago.

    2) It's also the same for the big cities. In fact, this video is a lot more peaceful than the actual traffic at the big cities.

  • beep beep beeeeeep ! (not for people with weak heart ! xD)

  • I just spent 3 months in Bihar, where this video was filmed. You are right when you say it's efficient in its own way.... however, 320 people die EVERY DAY in traffic accidents in India. That's over 116,000 per year.... I personally saw a boy on a bicycle knocked over and seriously injured by a motorcycle. I was almost hit by cars several times (and I wasn't doing anything stupid, except well, walking on the side of the road in India)... It's no fun! This aspect of Indian culture needs help!

  • My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during five and a half years by the German BND which is the renamed GESTAPO. He was assassinated on July 11th 2009 because of our homepage linked on my channel.

    Martin Bott

  • If you try crossing the doulbe continuous line in europe you can say good bye to your driver's licence for 3 mounths unless you are in Bulgaria and you pay 10 euros to the policeman.

  • I'm surprised to find out in a recent study that Patna is almost as rich as Bangalore, considering how messed up Bihar, India's poorest state, is.

  • Jeez, That guy in the ricksaw can really keep up with the traffic. He was going faster than the three wheeler.

  • billion ppl in india

  • India is an example of the perfect shit hole in the world. Super power? What a joke.

  • your a fucking dickhead

  • @indiatheshithole

woww......... we would totally kick your ass dickhead. In india we cut off heads of people like you and display them.

  • damn...no rules!!

  • alas, traffic rules are made to be broken in our country.

we have the shitiest traffic sense in the world, its just the way we are.

  • wow~!they must have really good driving skill

  • For info: Patna is the state capital of Bihar, poorest state of India. Condition of infrastructure in this state can be compared to african nations.

  • I like your aircontionin unit (Fan) :D

  • this is new york time square not india

  • haha thats what REAL driving is white ppl

  • Excellent Infrastructure.

  • too many people on this planet.

  • See.. There U go..

No matter our IQ is way higher than an average American IQ.

This is the essence of meditation..

Concentrate and be "one" with the universe amids all the confusion and entropy.

BTW: How are the Iraqis treating U ?

Having fun in the sun ?

  • The errogance of your comment makes it quite clear you have no idea what your talking about.

  • @bubamamay thats the reason why u indians are damn rich, hehehehe i feel like laughing at u ppls foolishness, and u are proud or ur dam country, friend telling u corruption and ur narrowmindedness is the prime factor for ur backwardness and religious belief is another one for not progressing

  • God Bless Russian India China Long Live SCO!

  • @vladamirPutin81 and brazil too .

  • india SUCKS!

  • Why don't you just stay in your well..

U sound like a chinese frog.

Stick to eating bugs, pigs, snakes.. etc.

Then get shot by your Govt.

  • FU DUDE!

  • This is mean, but I'm loling so hard!

btw, IQs don't really vary by nationality, but rather ethnicity/race. America definitely wouldn't apply because we are made up of people from every single corner of the world .

    :)

  • it looks like 50 years ago in vietnam lol

  • looks like a small village in western poor areas of China

  • First of all, Patna is in the poorest, most backward state of India, so don't consider this to be the case of every Indian city.

Secondly, the problem in India is we can't bulldoze houses and build six-lane roads wherever we please, displacing thousands of people. This pesky thing called "human rights" and "individual liberty" exists in India.

Infrastructure can be built much more easily than inculcating the idea of rule of law and inalienable civil liberties, in which India is way ahead.

  • such things as liberty or democracy is bullshit in poor countries, they are suitable for developed country. Survival and disposal of poverty should precede them. After being rich, democracy will come and this will be a very good situation, which has happened in S.Korea and Taiwan. If the government bulldoze the slums and build new and well-equipped houses for them , I believe they will be glad.

  • Prosperity and liberty don't have to be mutually exclusive and I feel bad for Chinese people for being made to believe so.

Democracy has nothing to do with India being behind India. The fact is that India was ahead of China in every factor until the 1980s. China started economic reforms 13 years before India (1978 in China vs. 1991 in India). We are now where China was in the 1990s. Despite the constraints of democracy, India is moving faster than China. We just started much later, that's all.

  • Prosperity and liberty are certainly not mutually exclusive, they can benefit each other in developed country. But for big and poor country, democracy is a joke. And the democracy in India is not a genuine one. We need democracy in order to reduce the spacing between the poor and the rich, refrain corruption and enjoy a prosperous living. We don't need democracy just to show off to the world:'look, we are democratic, we are superior!'

  • The Chinese government is equally as corrupt as the Indian government. Reducing corruption can only come from removing power from the state and handing it to the private sector, as is happening in both countries. In fact, with the passage of the Right to Information Act in India, the fight against corruption has been helped tremendously.

  • Sue, there are people in India who vote along caste and religion lines. But as the younger generations take charge, this mentality is changing slowly. I can tell this from looking at youth participation in the ongoing elections.

And our democracy is not just to show off to the world. All Indians, urban bloggers like me & rural farmers protesting against unfair land grabs, very much enjoy & use our freedom. That said, being the only successful developing country democracy is a matter of pride.

  • Search for the BBC article in Google, "Calcutta takes cue from China."

From the urban, middle-class person that said "We are not ready to sacrifice our human rights to get people out of poverty. No." to the rural farmer who given the choice between democracy & prosperity said "Vote, vote is best.", Indians are unequivocal about what they cherish in life.

Human rights and liberty are foremost among them and India is progressing and will continue to do so without resorting to authoritarianism.

  • laugh, the human rights record in india iis even worse than China.

and What is your definition of human rights? The so -called human rights are just the rights to vote and curse the government?

In china, we are not allowed to talk about overthrowing the party and the government in the public media or meeting. But we can speak whatever else we want, including criticizing the government.

  • You can't be serious when you say that the human rights record in democratic India is worse than in autocratic China? India is classifed as a "free" country by Freedom House, along with most of North America and Western Europe. China is classified as a "not free" country. There is a middle level of classification "partly free" on the scale that Freedom House uses.

China's internet is severely curtailed. My friend who lived in Beijing for six months could not access the BBC or my Blogspot blog.

  • and on internet, there are many people cursing and speaking about overthrowing the government or the political leaders now. but voting and cursing in politics is just a small part of our life. we are not living for politics,ok?

  • about land grab, I have two relatives living in the rural area. Several years ago, the land they were living on was expropriated by the government. But the capitalist land developer compensated them with new houses which are bigger and more comfortable than their old houses. They felt happy about this.

  • I have to admit there are some people who were not happy about this. Some of them asked for more compensation and some of them don't like to live in storied buildings. They protested against the government and some of them succeeded but others failed.

  • They mostly failed. The issue of liberty doesn't surface when people are willing to sell. Even in India, in numerous places, people have sold their farms to the government & private firms for industrial development and are quite happy with their compensation.

But when they do not want to sell, that's the problem. People's land cannot be taken from them forcibly and this is a crucial difference between the speed of development in India and China. But we prefer this way, even if a little slower.

  • oh,man. 'Slumdog Millionaire' really tells what the human rights is in india. how the cops tortured the boy? how is the life of slum people? this is an epitome of India' human rights.

and you said your democracy is not just to show off to the world, but in every comment you always referred to liberty and democracy.

  • Like I said, it's not perfect. But in general, people have access to lawyers and fair trials. You can't even compare what you see re: India's judicial system in Slumdog vs. what you see of the Chinese judicial system as depicted in the movie "Red Corner".

India's democracy is not JUST to show off, as you said. We genuinely do enjoy our rights and liberties, whether we are rich, poor, or in between. But that doesn't mean we don't view it as a matter of pride either.

  • I have to say, this is probably the best online debate I've had with a Chinese person. Neither of us have really sunk to racist or derogatory remarks and both of us agree that numerous faults exist in both our countries.

We disagree in that I believe that democracy is important, even if poverty is not solved as quickly and you believe that making the country rich as a whole is more important, even if some individual rights are curtailed.

I think we should end this at that & agree to disagree.

  • But in the long run, this is good for the next generations, who will live in a more good-looking and comfortable environment. If there are a lot of slums in the area where you are living, the life quality will degrade and you will never be in good mood facing these every day even you are wealthy.

To sum up, we are sacrificing our liberty of political speech and voting to win a wealthy and democratic society for our next generation. That is what the west, south korea and taiwan have done!

  • I agree that South Korea and Taiwan followed that route. But that doesn't have to be the case. I've mentioned before, India's being poor has nothing to do with democracy. It has to do with 44 years of socialist economic policies the government followed.

India's main problem is cumbersome bureaucracy, which is slowing development. This problem is far more transparent and far more easily fixed under democracy than autocracy.

  • oh, India has been democratic for 60 years, bureaucracy is still a big problem, what a easy fixing!

Not only S.korea and Taiwan, singapore and hongkong also followed the same route. The Europe, Australia, north America built their infrastructures and finished their primitive accumulation through abusing human rights on the black people and plundering other countries!

  • Anyway, to conclude, cheers to this kind of civilized debate! We are the two most populous nations on the planet. China may consider India small fry, but the two nations will be competitors for decades to come, whether it's for resources in Africa or "soft power" in the international arena.

China will support Pakistan to irritate India and India will always keep the "Free Tibet" card open to irritate China. As long as it's healthy competition without warfare, both of us will benefit.

  • OK, cheers and game over! God bless India and China!

  • "God bless India and China!"

God does not bless india, or there would not be so many slumsdogs

  • It takes an indian mind not to feel like having a head on crash with one of those tucktucks pushing you out by invading your lane while overtaking without time and room to clear your lane before you get there. But it's their mentality the one of adapting each other, in a good sense as well, as the tolerance towards many different cultures and religions. And probably they couldn't even do otherwise at the moment, given how many they are compared to their current infrastructures and roads

  • Nice car~ with an extra fan!!

  • thanks for the vid!

i live in New Dehi and had no idea about wha Patna looks like!

but now i do a little!

  • Looks like driving through Alberta.

  • poor mother nature

  • Aside from carrying luggage I suppose, seems rather impractical to even own a car there when you can get around faster on a bike via weaving in and out of the place.

  • cuz it has nukes to fry your ass

  • i love tuktuks! thailand ! good times :D

  • In india its always your way lol. GO as u please. :D

  • i do agreee that traffic and infrastructure is bad there. but this is not how u judge the whole country. partly, its also to blame the racist and biased media of uk and U.S who do an excellent job in portraying us as primitive. please guys, don't fall for bbc, cnn, cbc, or fox news. they are racist. plus whoever has posted this shows great interest in how to belittle indians as supposed to show so many positive sides of india that are totally ignored.

  • @ericos87 Um because you are primitive. I worked in Kolkata for 3 months taking care of a group of programmers. You're under the world average life expectancy and you're average income is $3100. How is that not primitive?

  • Tuktuks. love 'em

    bring 'em to the UK.

With a bit of work they'd be far better for the environment than many other modes of transport.

And take up alot less space.

  • wow what a life...im in america i wish i was there on vacation!!

  • Hey, are those funny vehicles motorized? How fun!!

  • in india its hard to sleep on a bus because they keep honking there horn

  • well said tandog 3 you told the truth.i am e3nglish and went to india in 1970 and believe4 me i fell in love with thgat6 great culture, whatever looks like chaos is an illussion, there is order there and very alert minds who drive. in india your mind sharpens up and you lose thge westernized dross and conditioning.life and death are so close to each other.you never know whaqt will happen next,a fiesta or a funeral.indioa is my fav country and i want to go back but am too old and ill to go,76yrsold

  • Were the People of India, Under a proud Indian sun - that has lightened up daylight for people for over 7 thousand years. We don't believe that we a superior or inferior to anyone, like you guys do, so that is why we join our hands and respect each individual in namaste. You guys will never realise the real India because its not just the land or the 1 billion people from the himalyans to kerala, from kashmir to kolkotta India is to be discovered. • rastina123 i apologize it is infact a third world country. however, India is the 12th largest growing economy in the world. it has the 3rd largest GDP US$ 4.164 trillion.

i know the traffic system over there is real bad heck who ever drives there could be the most experinced driver in the world.... nothin would be a challenge.lol and sadlly yes there is malnutrition and poverty some parts of india, i would never disagree with that... but still alot work is bieng done...

    i apologize again

  • your a bitch, India is the best fucking country in the world, the 2nd strongest country in purchasing power and after usa and china has the world's biggest gdp and is growing at 9.3% compared to usa's 4% so stfu if u dont kno shit u fucking fagg

  • Really, so why in the hell is India considered 3rd world country? Try to share india's wealth among all indians and get yourself a answer

  • it is considered 3rd world from u white barstards who have fucking assumptions that its shit and u havent even been there, i admit when u first go there the chaos mite get to you, but if u settle down then u realise its a way of life, the chaos if organised and is far superior to the inferior races that claim India is 3rd world. Think India isn't developed? come and check it out for yourselfs.

  • tandog if ur talkin to me.. u effort is use less and i have studied economy of india. i'm an indian and i love my country and stand for it but it is a 3rd world country. india is very rich but the power is in a few hands and a very few good hands, things r being done to help ppl but still there is malutrition many r dying. i live outside india at the momment and cannt wait to go back home. by the way the gdp thing i was sayin the same thing 3rd largest!
