needles to say - great guitar playing, everything is so well put together, amazing technique, dynamics and the sense of melody. but what this style of music lacks in general is the communication within the band. there is none. you might as well replace the rhythm section with a rhythm track. camera work tells you everything - there is nothing really going on other than the soloist, no call and response, no space left for the rest of the band. craft? yes. art? not in my opinion.

Joscho is an extremely good guitarist . In the Netherlands we have Stochelo Rosenberg and his trio, they are very good sinty musicians. i dont know who is the best, maybe Stochelo and Joscho should play together one time. But i love this music!!! GREAT!!

jespero93 - you are right but this is not the disadvantage of the player. It was the fruitfull work together with Django and Stephanne which makes it possible. For the next step there is a violin player necessary like Garrett to make it possible. The musical quality grows when the musicians come from different art directions.

yeah i guess.... grapelli was also very good at creating melodies so the two of the were kind of unstoppable i guess. you have to have some sort of inspiration or source if you want to create something i guess. and the two of them together were just that for each other. i guess =)

he's great. although there is one i miss with every gypsy jazz player. that django had. its that sense of creating a melody. it would almost be like a new song every time, that you could hum around on during the days. there are few players ive heard that could do that. django could.

dont get me wrong, joscho as the rest is fucking great, i just feel that they all lack something.

probably will get thumbs down for this but, i say whats on my mind =) hope you understand.

I dont know.. What about stochelo rosenberg? I think as well as being able to play fast, he can also make it musical and very emotional at th esame time. That why stochelo is my favourite out of them all. (Obviously django goes without saying)

I don't know why people take shits on him for being too technical. I mean he plays with awesome feel which is what most people respect but not every jazz musician can play crystal clear fast and technical licks like Joscho I mean you gotta respect that too. He mixes technical licks and licks with feeling half n half.
