I believe Rin was the first to be created, and then Len, the mirror image of Rin, was created after her. Because she was created first, she may originally be the older one. It also shows in some of the series of Hatsune Mix, where Len calls Rin "onee-chan."

Of course, people have other opinions, meaning that they can believe Len's the older one, Rin isn't; them being siblings, and others are able to think they a nice pairing
