My dad loves messing with these people. We kept getting calls from microsoft (fake) obviously from india and he pretended to have a fake name, had moved away and died. They believed all that crap!! It was such a laugh!

My usual response, if I have my MP3 player and big headphones nearby, is to tell them I have to take a pot off the stove, cue up Merzbow (Japanese noise band) on the player, stick the mouthpiece of the phone into one of the headphones' earpieces and blast away.

These callers really get on my tits. Not only because they lie to you (eg. by claiming error level event logs in windows event viewer are indications of viruses - which they absolutely are not) but also by charging people who don't know any better £99 for a piece of software which is about as useful as the hair in my ass crack!

I dunno about them...but I'd actually feel bad stealing £99 from someone.
