I live on the east coast in the Carolinas. I have visited Wal-Mart for a year looking for 38's. They say they are slow to come in and when they do come in at 7am they are sold out by 9am.
This reminds me my later Soviet experience. I could get only one pack of sugar per single store visit so that I need to change cloth or somehow look different to get another one. WM suxx anyway, they lately start making HUGE lines and have shortage on some pretty basic items (such as double layer DVDs). There is still lots of ammo in online stores...

These video's do not cause panic. Very few people even watch these. If you go to the range on a regular basis, there is no reason not to stock up with what you can afford. Regardless of politics, the prices are not going to go down period. If you store your ammo properly, it will last until you can use it. I label my ammo with the purchase date and always use the oldest first. I'd rather have more than less.

well living in southern california, i have noticed that the majority of the walmarts don't even have gun and ammo departments in the store at all!!! only a few actually sell ammo, and those that do, usually are completely out of stock except for 100 round packs of 12 gauge

I would only advise this to Californians because you guys actually have genuine reason to fear. The July legislation is almost here, BUY all that you can. Starting in July, anyone buying, selling, or transporting more than 50 rounds of ammo must register as an official "ammo vendor" and may only buy 50 rounds a month. My Walmart now is just getting some ammo. Plenty of deer gun calibers, 223, 38, 357. 9mm and 45 ACP does come in, but sells out at 8:00 in the morning. Also, local gun shops have good stock (at high prices) but they limit your purchase to 100 bullets.

These video's do not cause panic. Very few people even watch these. If you go to the range on a regular basis, there is no reason not to stock up with what you can afford. Regardless of politics, the prices are not going to go down period. If you store your ammo properly, it will last until you can use it. I label my ammo with the purchase date and always use the oldest first. I'd rather have more than less.

@alsatian9130 I love my Mosin, and it's very accurate to 200 yds with open irons, at least for me, has gobs of stopping power and hits at 200yds on 1/4 size, 11"x17" siliouttes are easy but it is not my idea of a go- to battle ready weapon, with only 4+1 capacity. That would be my Stag Arms HBAR carbine with an Eotech 512. That's my idea of CQB goodness.

I would only advise this to Californians because you guys actually have genuine reason to fear. The July legislation is almost here, BUY all that you can. Obongo and crew are trying to ban guns via the back door, by cutting down on our ammo supplies. My Walmart now is just getting some ammo. Plenty of deer gun calibers, 223, 38, 357. 9mm and 45 ACP does come in, but sells out at 8:00 in the morning. Also, local gun shops have good stock (at high prices) but they limit your purchase to 100 bullets.

they only have .380 ammo at my walmart now, you cant purchase on the internet and they usually dont even have it in stock.

same thing that happened to tamiflu stocks when the bird flu hit, every idiot stocked up creating a shortage although more people die of regular flu each year than ever from the bird or swine flu combined. a family of 4 with 3 adults needs maybe 300 rounds of 9, 40 or 45, slugs or buck shots, any more and u are just paranoid, I lived through the LA riots in 92 in long beach right off atlantic blvd(rough area) and never fired a single shot . people are turning this into an arms race WTF?

stop whining so much from CA, you knew the tough laws way b4. plenty of ammo if you are patient in the south east, although most owners are in fact stocking up on 9, 40, 45 and 38 spcl not to mention the 223. not because its going to be banned, but fear of a tax hike, thats all. STOP the fear mongering, no one is taking your gun rights away, maybe taxed more but thats about it. no one i know is buying overpriced ammo online here in GA, waly got plenty of hollow points to go around 4 cheap

and they have people calling everyfucking day at 1 in the morning at the 24 hour walmart asking for them to hold on to them and they go in and get them right when there put on the shelves..people need to get the hint...
get all the fucking ammo you can right now!!!!

Yes, I am defending my right to defend myself if attacked. The police are under no legal obligation to protect you. I assume in some utopian world where there's no crime there would be no need for guns.
But in the real world, where the rubber meets the road, you need to be ready to keep yourself alive, using any means necessary. And a gun is a great equalizer.
And before you say 'I don't need an AK', well, you don't need a huge SUV or 40 pairs of shoes either. It's not need. It's preference.

Equaliser?I suppose you would like a few suitcase nukes to go with your SUV which is too big to fit down many laneways. And honestly,if there weren't so many guns, nobody would NEED an AK47.Nobody needs them in the REST OF THE WESTERN WORLD.
And the police ARE there to protect you. That is what they are PAID to do,and moreover, most of them are there BECAUSE THEY FEEL IT IS THEIR DUTY TO PROTECT THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS. YOU seem only interested in keeping up some kind of neighborhood arms race.

According to the Supreme Court, the police are under no legal obligation to protect you, regardless of what they are paid to do. If you don't believe me, look it up.
Warren v. District of Columbia. (1981)
Deshaney v. Winnebago. (1989)
(I actually don't own a huge SUV... by freedom of choice, I drive a small two door because it's what I prefer to have.)

So i will have a police officer at my house and by my side 24/7, 355? I doubt it. any time ive ever called the police it was over 10 minutes before one came out. by that time id be dead. Get your head out of your ass and wake up.

How so? criminals dont go to a local gun store and go through the FBI background check. its bought on the street. So if guns are severely regulated or even outlawed, All innocent people would be left with Nothing. So when criminals decide to break into my house what will i do? i dont think harsh language works in 2009. Besides you dont even live here, why am i arguing with you

All the guns used by criminals were acquired legally AT SOME POINT. Having guns that are not secured properly, not safely locked up allows them to get their hands on them.

They are not putting more police officers on. Some states are laying police officers off too.
I have known quite a few people who want to be police officers, not for the pension and paycheck but because they believe they can make a difference.

the Founding Fathers of the U.S. had JUST finished fighting YEARS of wars against the corrupted and tyrannical British monarchy. COUNTLESS innocents died because they were not able to defend themselves against their OWN government - as their OWN government had banned all private ownerships of arms for one specific reason - so that NONE COULD RETALIATE.
The Founding Fathers of the U.S. KNEW this was going to happen again eventually (as it does throughout the world) - hence the 2nd amendment.
