@GonzAnimations Thanks Gonz, most Squiers come with "single-coil" pickups. They're great but they sound thin for metal/rock. A humbucker would help this out. Also, you've got a good beginner rig, but the amp speaker is small so you can't expect a HUGE sound. You might want to try out amps in the music store with your guitar to hear the differences, just so you know what is creating the sound you like. -Neal
wtf i cant powwer cord ghaaaaa im sooo pisseedddd i cant get it ive sen like 20000 videos all the same thing and it sounds like elephants having sex help mee!!!please!
@m1necraft3rs try fingering a power chord with only two notes, then try each note by itself (one finger) so you can hear if it's ringing out OK. Sometimes when you are using two fingers, your finger will touch another string and create unwanted background noise. Doing one note at a time will let you know if each note is good on it's own. Also you can try a very simple E power chord in the open position: Open E string, first finger on 2nd fret of A string.
@jamezroper Everything's the same on the neck except for the low string, you can play the same notes on the low string that you would on the D string. does that help? -Neal
Hey man youre awesome, actually Ive been watching your videos just in case you explain the damn NECK BEND!!! I can do a lot of things but I cant figure the NECK BEND out, everytime Im in some kind of silly guitar duel with my friends they'll do it and I am like oo wtf how do you do thaaaat?!?!?! think you could help me out with that??
Neal, you the man, your videos rock. One thing though, please don't bend the neck like that, I feel sorry for that fine instrument you got there. If i had a Les Paul like yours i would wear gloves man, seriously!
Well, it does make 5add9 chords a lot easier to play as opposed to normal tuning and you can do every interesting clean chords using by dropping the bottom string. Saying Drop tuning is "only for noobs" is extremely arrogant. I don't usually play a drop tuning myself, but some things you just can't play without having the octaves within reach. If you start thinking theoretically, you'll realize how much things you can do by altering your tuning, like Drop tuning.
@terrrtaz I have thought the same thing. Seriously, there are tons of videos where people don't know how to explain something that I now know is easy. It still seems like it should be harder...like more strings should be retuned. But nope. Good for us.
how would i drop d tune with an automatic tuner? im not very good at tuning by ear and ive never really tried any other tuning format other that the standard tuning(which im not even sure what its called, e tuning?) thanks kindly-cheers from san diego
thanks kindly for the advice, what about the rest of the strings, should they remain as normal or do they have to be altered as well, sorry about the elementary questions, ive never taken any music classes or the like. thanks again, take care
I don't like delays on drop d tuning..! =P But a great trick to teach your students!! It's really a valuable thing to know if you want to blow peoples minds!! ;D haha!
He said double bass and all that stuff. :) Lol.

@Guitartricks so if i was to solo in E pentatonic minor i would use the 2nd or 14th fret and solo as usual??
jamezroper 6 months ago
@jamezroper
To solo in drop D, the notes you would find if the string was tuned normally is now two frets higher :) Takes some time to get used to it :)
