Klonopin is 'clonazepam'- just another 'benzo' like valium, xanax, ativan, etc. Klonopin is the trade name. It has a long half-life (72 hours) compared to Xanax or alprazolam (4-6 hours) and also has a slower onset of action. It is addictive, like all benzos, and is also a respiratory depressant-- especially when combined with opiates.
Hey "Doc what up" sorry had to do that again lol or is it "What's up Doc" lol you seem very nice! Ok here's my question.......do you personally know other Docs out there that are addicts? I think many Docs are addicts (not all) but there are some and I think they are the ones NOT wanting to write Scripts out for pain pills b/c they know how they are & they don't want you addicted. Is that the truth? Thanks so very much. Have a great day!
Hi...What's up Doc...sorry just had to do that lol ; ) Hope you don't mind. You seem very nice. You had said you have been there before.Did that mean you are an opiate addict? If so, can you tell us your story? Pretty please? In a nutshell? Pls.? If we hear your story or short version ...it will help to keep all us watching you straigh ;) Can we hear the story? Thank you for all your hard work.
Depends on the dose of Suboxone and the time the person was taking it. If taking a regular 8 mg dose for at least a few weeks it will take a week for the buprenorphine to be low enough for opiates to work-- although you will still be tolerant to opiates so that a high dose of opiates is required for pain relief.
It is no accident that addictionologists are in short supply. I made over 4 times as much as an anesthesiologist, and at the end of the day I had no patient caseload to worry about. I am an addict, so no offense -- but the lying, manipulation, desperate requests for early refills, anger... yet psych and addiction are the lowest paid medical specialties. Insurers pay 10 grand an ortho to fix an ACL (over 40 minutes)-- but the same insurer won't pay a shrink $100 for the same hour.
Suboxone saved my life. Im 20 years old and had been on oc's for about a year and a 1/2. i was snorting and shooting atleast 5 a day. I stole off ppl i loved, i lost my gf of 4yrs that will not speak to me to this day, and i ended up doing 30 days in county jail and 2yrs of probation. I started suboxone oct. 08 and ive been clean now since. I'm off subs now but it was a little tough but nothing like opiate withdraws. I am happy to have my life back, just wish i had my GF back. 1 Love.
Suboxone helps people. It does not make you high like using a opiate antagonist, it makes a person feel normal. People who are desperate and in need. People who can not be cured, hopelessness. If you have high cholestrol, you manage it, just like someone on suboxone. In addition, it blocks other opiates, so someone can take it as soon as they wake up and not be able to use for 24-36 hours bc the suboxone blocks other opiates.
lets see how long your going to be on sub. for and not to mention how much money you are going to spend. Oh and then you might have to spend 20k on rapid detox b/c you cant get off of the sub.
Remember guys the FDA approves pain killers too!!!
it is a money making thing. THEY ACCEPT NO INSURANCES, and charge anywhere from 200-1000 the first visit and 75-200 every time you go. Yes can average drug addict can afford that? Its a huge money maker.
A common but silly thought. The number of docs taking on prescribing Suboxone is low, and decreasing; addictionology is about the lowest-paid area of medicine, and the most frustrating. I am closed to new patients-- have been for a year or two. I am paid $1000 for a whole year of treating a Suboxone patient; an orthopedist is paid $7000 for a 40-minute ACL repair. The anesthesiologist gets $700 for the same 40 minutes. I charge $165 for that time- and for the dozen calls between visits.
On your blog you told a viewer to not switch to Bupe as she was almost off of methadone. Methadone has its own set of problems when one quits. It is not unreasonable to use Bupe to get thru these aches and pains and then detox from the Bupe.
I hear you-- but she was down to a very low dose of methadone, I THINK about 4 mg of methadone per day. A person used to 4 or more mg of buprenorphine per day is 'cross tolerant' to 30-40 mg of methadone-- so if she took even a quarter of a tab of suboxone she would likely get a 'buzz', and would quickly go backswards with tolerance-- requiring her to go through all of that withdrawal over again to get her tolerance back down. Had she been on 30 mg of methadone, my advice would be different.
I am a 23 year old Heroin addict who recently got clean and Suboxone has made life bareable. I would say my desire to be sober is about 6 days out of the week and on the seventh it helps to have something to relieve my desire to use. Obviously everyone is different, but if you're struggling with Early Soberiety, it has helped me a ton. Good luck to anyone who's trying to get clean. I know it sucks but it's possible.
SUBOXONE is God sent!!!my wife and i were banging alot of drugs for years until we started taking suboxone. she gets it from the doctor and we split it. i take a half a pill and my cravings are gone. we did methadone for a while but that didnt take care of the problem for long. the only thing is we have been taking it for a couple of months and have built a tolerance. we dont get high off of it anymore which sucks but it still takes care of the cravings.
if you snort sub its like doing heroine spread the word,i get high as a mother fucker , get a grinder and toot it and you will love it, fuck dope fuck oc fuck meth fuck everything my D O C is SUB
This is utter nonsense; I let it through just to show you that there are people out there who want to confuse the issue. I don't know why-- maybe misery loves company. 'tooting' buprenorphine causes a bit less to be absorbed than taking it the usual way, because there is not enough moisture in the nasal passages to dissolve the thick, ground up mess this fool is talking about.
no fuck that!!!! i was on dope, methadone, and lastly suboxone, i kicked all of the above aand suboxone was one of the worse withdrawls ive ever been through and they last forever it seems. it got me away from chasing drugs but was just another problem
The 'problem' is opiate addiction. Buprenorphine gives you the chance to stop the running from drug to drug. If a person WANTS to stop using, buprenorphine is a huge help. But you don't get a buzz, so if you are looking to feel 'different' bupe is not for you.
Suboxone helps you get your life together so you're able to quit. If you can't quit suboxone... It's okay!!! Your life is much better with it then without it-isn't it? Stay well my friends
Suboxone is amazing. It really helped me to get off heroin.. Takes the cravings and withdrawl away completely. I'm currently on the tapering down and soon will be completely free from all drugs. Suboxone is not replacing one thing with another, it just takes up the opiate receptors so your not craving opiates. I'm over the physical dependence, however I'm making lifestyle changes to get over the mentality of wanting drugs. Its a long road ahead.
Hey doc, I'll be starting methadone pretty soon and I am down to taking like 8mg a day but will have to be down to about 2mg a day to start the methadone, that's what the clinic said anyway. My question is will it be okay to take the 30mg dose of methadone being on only 2mg of suboxone. I mean will I overdose going from 2mg of sub to 30mg of methadone? Thanks.
Sorry for the delay-- for other people, be sure to follow your doc's instructions as this is all dangerous stuff. IN GENERAL, a person on 2 mg of buprenorphine who takes 30 mg of methadone will not feel the methadone, as it will be blocked by the bupe. The person would then stop the buprenorphine, and stay on 30 mg of methadone-- the buprenorphine would leave the body over the next week or two.
nope-- not at all. By 'speed' I assume you are referring to amphetamine or 'dexadrine', which is the more active form of amphetamine (there are right- and left-handed forms of the molecule; the right-handed form is dexadrine). That drug was sold in the 1970's as 'black beauties' or 'yellow jackets,' diverted diet pills--- now it is usually someone's ADD medication. Suboxone and buprenorphine do not affect the actions of those substances.
dude, im on subox. and used meth for years b4 heroin. Youre getting into a different ball game, trust me. Dont fuck w/ methadone or subox if ur not an opiate addict. Ive quit meth, if you want help just hit me up. Stick to alcohol and weed if you need substance t make it through. But trust me, you can get off of meth....youre just gonna have a VERY SHITTY 3 or 4 days.
Oh god yes, stopping Effexor is terrible. I got through it though with Omega 3 fatty acids, and breaking the pill open and tapering down 1 little time release bead at a time.
I know people do something similar for Suboxone. Many people have trouble getting down lower than 1 mg. I suggest you get a good pill cutter, one with the razor in it that cuts when you close the box (got mine at CVS). With that it should be very easy to divide a 2mg pill in 1/4 size pieces so you can drop to 0.5 mg.
i recently have been re-subscribed suboxone for my opiate addiction, and this information have been helpful to me, i no longer crave opiates, so im proud of myself for not needing oxy in my life anymore.
Most people who go on Suboxone already have a tolerance that is much higher than the tolerance caused by buprenorphine. I don't know heroin doses, but the tolerance from bupe is about equal to 30-40 mg of daily methadone.
I just started last week on Sub's. It's a WONDERFUL drug!!! I had a serious oxy and norco problem for YEARS because of a back injury!! I said "fuck it, I'm tired of this shit!" and dropped the $400 to get help! ANYONE that has a opiate problem grow some balls and find a Suboxone Clinic or straight ask your Family for help!!!! I haven't touched a oxy or norco in in 7 days!!!!!! I never even had a want for one!
SUBOXONE IS AWESOME!! IT'S THE BEST MEDICATION FOR OPIATE ADDICTION!!!
Amen Dr. I had an extreme addiction to oppiates after having back surgery. Was on fentynal patch and roxycodone for breakthrough pain. After getting on suboxone, I was able to decrease the dose month by month. I was on it for about 9 months. Upon going off of it, it was more mental anxiety than physical withdrawal. I did have mild withdrawal symptoms but at this time in my recovery it was easy to handle. Mild diareah,,a little jonesing,,nothing you cant handle. This drug saved my life!
We have to be honest about our civilisation, and our species-we seek out relief from pressures/anxiety/boredom, hence our exploration of drugs (yes alcohol is a potent drug)-did we learn nothing from prohibition-when the underworld capitalised on people's desire
for their drug...crime resulted. Why can't society own up to itself?, Sobriety types are ridiculous moral hypocrites, unreasonable to-boot. Suboxone is a great medicine.
its alot better then methadone . its easier to get off of then herion or methadone, u dont get high of it. yes it is better then any other drug to stay off of opiates
The "sobriety" people you speak of have traded anger, control of others, and the "12 steps" for their addiction. I tried AA for years, to no avail.
I have been on subox for several years. It (and docs like you) has helped me successfully rebuild my life from a point when I thought it was hopeless. I have never increased my dose, and it doesn't make me high. It merely allows me to focus on getting well.
Thanks for taking the time to post these vids and for the great information!
Doctor, thank you so much for posting this informative video for everyone to watch. I'm a Registered Nurse and I just started working at a psychiatric facility. We use Suboxone and this helped me understand the drug better than just reading about it online. I'll check out your other videos as well!
guys i need a question answered asap....i have a problem but have had axicety before and during it....i am scared that if i ask and get suboxone percription....that they will take away my anti axiety medication!!! please let me know if they can/will do that asap ....its very very important...thanks guys
My friend has had a pill addiction for five years now. He would go through withdrawls that were hell and the he would be right back on them. When he started to take this drug I laughed because he was just taking a drug for a drug. But the one thing I didn't understand is when you have this addiction you just can't sleep it off, its a long process. Not even three days after taking the drug he felt normal he could go all day with the dosage and not need a pill.He only takes 2mg now.Almost done!
I have been taking it for 20 months now it is the best thing i did for myself after 3 years of using but i wanted to say the hardest thing about being on it is those around me telling me how they feel about me taking it and what they say is never positive i will never be able to quit with everyone having an bad opinion about it and my addiction i need those around me to understand what i go throu! its hard when everyone feels they need understanding
Once you have that addiction it will never go away. So for those few of you who can get away with no replacement medication than great for you. Scientifically proven, addiction is when the brain interprets a substance as a necessity for living such as food and sex. If you do not have that substance in your system your addiction part of your brain will override all normal thinking and create a need to live emergency for that substance.
suboxone saves lives & is a miracle. I suggest long term use, you don't take someone w/cancer & treat them for a few months & pull them off. Addiction is a disease & suboxone (I have been on it for over 2 years) gave me my life back!! Thank you suboxone & my wonderful doctor!!! Thanks for giving my life back & letting me live a normal, happy life!!
Suboxone is a wonder drug!!! It gives you the freedom to live your life while striving for sobriety which is also a lifetime committment. Unfortunately addicts possess the "quick-fix" personality which makes them hard sells for anything requiring long-term focus and dedication. When you're ready on every level to get your life and health back, Suboxone is an absolute life-saver!!!
I start suboxone this wednesday coming it, its now sunday. I have been through methadone once and was on it for a year and got off the done and clean for almost a year, then I relapsed. Its been 3 monthes of using and now I am startin suboxone...Hope it goes well
i understand where your comming from and trust me, suboxone is a wonder drug. however, going through the withdrawl is what makes you never wanna take another opiod again in your life. I started my treatment 5 days after taking my last pill. i went through horrible withdraw but by the time i took the suboxone i was in mild withdraw. i dont know if i could of done it myself but i do know i never wanna go through that again and if i ever consider relapsing i doubt i will for that very reason.
I have a mental drug problem. Just took a 2mg/0.5 under my tongue for the high. Bought it from this guy. I am not addicted to drugs other than mentally. Is this suboxone solution better than vodka for kicks? I have some more tablets. I don`t know if I should take them or flush them down the toilet. I am serious about life, drugs and living. Want to do the right thing. Thanks Mr. Suboxone.
i snort a quater of a suboxone a day. Before that i was snorting about 5 perk tens every day. it really helps me come clean. it takes away the desier to do that perk, or OC or vicodin. i luv it
I have been on Subutex for 4 years, which is way too long. I believe that if your doctor screws you over (like mine) It WILL cause dependance. Now I truly do have another addiction, and Bupe and Benzos have been my drug of choice for several years now. I do go through withdrawal if I quit taking my Subutex at a dose higher than .5 of a milligram. Remember .364 of a milligram of Bupe is equiv. to 10mg of Morphine.
Everyone has their own opinion-- I would say that since opiate dependence lasts a lifetime, 4 years isn't too long for taking medication to treat it. If taken properly I don't see 'addiction' as possible; physical dependence, yes-- but even antidepressants cause physical dependence. 'Addiction', though, is mental obsession for the drug; all of my long-term patients don't even think about Suboxone. Their biggest problem is forgetting to take it! That is NOT addiction.
I am currently on methadone and have been for 4 yrs and when I started it was wonderful and helped me alot now I feel as if Im stuck in hell and cant get out I am unsure what to do. I am on 114mgs and when I tried to detox I went through withdraw I couldnt stand. ppl say I should switch to suboxone but not sure if it would be good idea. I hate going there around those ppl every wk its depressing and a negitive experience now for me. Advice if you could give any? thanks much.
Wow these ppl must not realize that its almost IMPOSSIBLE to kick the habit while having horrible cravings and dreaming about it all night and waking up sick!
It seems hoofmun, that you feel like your better than people who choose the suboxone or methadone route because they still have opiates in their system. Well you must enjoy going back and forth between sobriety and dope because if you have quit 100s of times than that means you have a hard time staying "clean." Maybe if you were on suboxone you would of had to kick dope but once, or possibly more depending on when suboxone came out relative to you. You must not understand the point of suboxone!
A good point for everyone, the ones made by 'hoofmun'-- 'I've kicked dope hundreds of times'. Then the comment that NA, the program that hoofmun is an expert about, is for 'complete abstinence from all drugs'! When, while using and kicking 'hundreds of times', is the time that is considered 'complete abstinence'?! See my point? Hoofmun claims to be more honestly clean than a Suboxone patient -- who isn't kicking (or using!) anything!
ive kicked dope hundreds of times i no the deal. im sure suboxin helps a lot of people..it is also being sold in the streets. they should start their own fellowship and call it "im clean, but im on drugs" . just acknowledge that "N.A." is a program of COMPLETE ABSTINANCE OF ALL DRUGS. people on suboxin and methodone come to N.A. meetings, where they are welcome, and disrespect our program by claiming clean time. i have sponsored people on suboxin, and will help them when their ready.
No, you are incorrect. NA is open to 'all people who have A DESIRE TO STOP USING DRUGS'. If they required everyone in NA to be completely abstinent most meetings would have two people at the most! I've attended meetings for 16 years-- and I have met plenty of idiots in NA. By the way-- ever hear of not taking someone else's inventory? I really find the 'I know NA better than you' people to be annoying, and I recommend people don't waste time on them.
We'll I agree with you sorta, I myself am on methadone which at first saved me and it gave me I should say a "tool" to get my head on straight. Now 4 yrs later still on it Im very angry because it is so addictive and now hard to get off of. I did go to NA meetings and said I am clean with the help of methadone. I have 3 childern and basically didnt have NO ONE to help me kick cold turkey to take care of them while I did that so I had to go that route but I wouldnt recommend it to any pill user.
hoofmun, were you just "Hoofed" in your head repeatedly as a child, or are you actually just that f'ing stupid?. From what retarded comments you have left it is clear that you are one who is disrespectful. You know nothing, only how not to spell. If you've kicked dope "hundreds" of times, then you have never really been clean have you? the answer is plainly no. You are I am sure, just a sad sad person, who only seems to be able to function by trying to make others feel as worthless as yourself.
anyone that knocks this drug has obviously never went thru drug withdrawls or detox... saboxone is a life saver when it comes to that. I have heard of people commiting suicide because the withdrawls are so bad. I should know I have came close.
in 12-step recovery, people on suboxone are welcome, however, when it comes to treating addiction, your not CLEAN if you take drugs to treat addiction. especially narcotics. you can treat sleep disorders, or depression, thats an outside issue, drugs to treat addiction, your not clean period, what part of that dont you understand?
I've attended meetings for over 16 years, and I have never seen your comment or your 'username' on the big book. You have your opinions; I think that Dr. Bill would have been grateful for ANY tool that really worked to save lives. He was more about saving people than he was about a 'principle' that keeps people dying. What part of that don't YOU understand?
Sorry-- that's a life-long problem! It is funny though-- one flamer who hates Suboxone writes and says I look 'doped up' (I'm not), others say I'm too animated... Theres's just no pleasing some people!
thank you so much for this information. you have just given me so much hope and information as i go through this long and hard battle with addiction. I can finally see light at the end of this dark tunnel. I really hope they offer this drug in Canada. Thank you so much again and keep spreading the news because knowledge is power!!!
so, are you telling me that you were addicted to opiates at one time? if so, i'm glad to see what you did there. i want to be just like you, helping people get out of dependence hell. i'm on suboxone right now (i'll admit i have been using from time to time) but i find it to be a miracle drug. the first couple weeks i was on it, i noticed myself becoming much happier than when i had to steal and lie to get my money and my drugs. i was freed from the stress of having to support my raging habit.
if u are on subs for a while. how bad is it really? do u really get soooo addicted to these subs that its worse than the addiction before? it cant be! i thought subs break up your compulsive behavior and allow healing of your receptors? if you were to put a oxycontin 80mg tab on the table, and a 8mg tab sub right next to it, (i know their different drugs and it would be diffucult 2 compare) but how big of a difference in strengh is there?
I just wanted to say thanks doc for spreading this information. I am addicted to oxycodone and have been for about two years. I have been weighing my options and I have been looking into suboxone. I have watched all of your videos and have learned a lot. I will be seeing an addiction therapist for the first time tomorrow and will talk to him about it. I had one question for you. Is naloxone "activated" when your snort suboxone (the effect that occurs from "shooting up suboxone")?
If your friend only took hydrocodone for 3 months, why did he search out a doctor for Suboxone (there weren't many of them 4 years ago!), go to the office, and pay money for Suboxone? Hmmm...
Suboxone does not 'cure addiction'-- never heard anyone claim it did. And it does not 'feed' receptors; it induces static tolerance by binding and changing calcium flow into the neuron. With chronic use you don't get 'high'- on that you are simply wrong. And your 'opinion' is at odds with medical science.
So...what do you tell the folks that have been on suboxone for years and CANNOT get off? I know of a person..was taking minimum hydrocodone for 3 months....has now been on suboxone for four years (at 24mgs!) and can't get off. some sub docs should be jailed.
Suboxone DOES NOT cure addiction. It feeds your opiate receptors so that you don't go into withdrawals. period. and...it CAN get you high.
In my opinion...sub is most effective when used as a short-term detox tool.....only.
Well, guy...one of the reasons that these "angry" people are so angry is the sudden realization when they try to get off this drug, after months of being on it, that their doctor lied to them about the painlessness in coming off the drug. the doctor lied to them about this being an opiate and how you can get addicted to this opiate like any others. really funny how doctors who have never taken this drug minimize the reports (especially the negative) of those who have.
'Guy', I can't speak for every doc out there-- people ALWAYS have to pick the right doctor, whether for Suboxone or to have their gallbladder removed. At any rate, your 'bad' subox doc didn't make you an opiate addict-- and going on Suboxone at WORST only delayed the inevitable. You needed to go through withdrawal to get your tolerance down AT SOME POINT. That withdrawal is a consequence of YOUR ADDICTION-- not a consequence of Suboxone. Your anger is displaced.
Nice user name!-- Be sure to check out my comments at Suboxone Talk Zone-- and make sure you are in the position to, go off of it. If you are, realize that the taper is very different than other medications-- because the dose effect is not linear. All the work is at the end of the taper process. Read the posts about 'micrograms' at my blog.
Hi there, ive been takin Suboxone for 2 years without a prescription, and ive never had any problems with opiate addiction. I started takin suboxone because i got a high from them. but now i feel its very hard to stop. I'm wondering if i should stop cold turkey or weave my way off them. and also since i had no oppiate tolerance, what damage did i do to my body in the last 2 years from takin suboxone? Please help
If I have to stay on it for the rest of my life I could care less. All I know is that I got my life back and I dont care if I cheated anything cause them fucking opiates cheated me outta everything, so if I can cheat withdraw and addiction, you damn right Im going to and be proud of it. Fuck the dumb questions, it works
i got off sub and i dont feell like i need something at the same time i feel very very weird and i dont no what to do my leg hurt and i cant sleep even after sub . i want to feel like i did befor i ever thouch anything i want to just die . please god help me after sub i still cant sleep or anything can someone tell me what to hdo and hoe long is is going to take for me to feel like i did befor useing anything please someone i need help please ppl help me talk to me please
Doctor? I don't know what you are talking about. But suboxone has been a life safer for many people. If you take the fact that many has been taking 10-35 Norcos a day. Plus it doesn't get you high. To substitue it for just one pill under the tongue twice a day, so what?
suboxone saved my life, i took sub 3 weeks but it was on specialized addiction clinic after that I started to use naltrexone and I am one year clean. I still have naltrexone implant in my hand.
Not my comment, but there are experimental programs where buprenorphine is placed under the skin as an implant every 6 months-- like birth control implants.
Suboxone can save peoples lifes. No matter how anyone looks at it they can't deny that herion is far worse to an addict and to society in general. A dealer won't be caught pushing suboxone to teenagers, suboxone won't be found in spoons cooked up next to a dead junkie in a back alley, and suboxone won't cause a once good man to lie, cheat, steal, or even kill. Call it evil, then put it on the scale and weight it against the devil himself and tell me which is better.
ok doc point made. your life is better but then what? You seem to advocate continued long term or permanent use,you may have a point . I was a 30 year plus junkie and I'm glad I made if off all narcotics and ciggs. I know it's not for everyone but I so glad I did
Doc, I agree with everything you said, and was always of the same opinion. However, what many people I talk to say is not that Sub isn't a good drug, but that they somehow feel cheated and lied to. Many doctors used to say that Sub does not cause withdrawals, or very very mild WDs (probably still do).
You can imagine that someone would be pissed off after getting ready for 4 days of "very mild withdrawals" and going through weeks of mildER withdrawals!
I hear you-- I would be angry about that as well. I forget that I have been working with these meds for ages-- I assume everyone knows that there 'is not free lunch'-- that if a person has a high tolerance level, there must be pain eventually if the tolerance is to come down.
Doctors need to know more-- no doubt.
Finally, I see so much variation with the withdrawal-- many people have minimal withdrawal, and others have horror stories. I don't know why that is.
I was wondering for a little quick advice. I get backed up from Sub more than anything else and it takes me a few days to pass anything and it's tough. I know some fiber will help.. but anything else you have to reccommend?
If this medication works as you say, I feel that i still have hope to be opiate free. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist in two weeks. I'm going to ask to be put on this medication.I'm not a user that takes it everyday. But i use oxy about 3 times a week, and use about 120-160mg in a 5 hour period. And i want to quit so badly. Thank you for giving me hope.
I am 19 and have been on the rollllercoaster now for over 5 yrs. and ive never iv;ed thank god! but have been it ruin so many lives i guess opiods and esp. other pills like valium, somas and speed ive lost it all to doing alot of morphine im talking 100-150mg a day plus about 50-100mg of oxy a day i was spending over 500 a day!!! haaha so glad i went on methadone and kicked then switched to subs i have 1 questuin does taking xanax and klonopins still work like they hould while dosing on subshola
Suboxone does not have any effect on Xanax or Klonopin. Those belong to a class of medications called 'benzodiazepines'; they can be dangerous when combined with opiates, including Suboxone, unless you are tolerant to the opiates, as they can increase the amount of respiratory depression.
i always get sick and have headaches with suboxone. what would you recoment?
All3nTyl3r 1 year ago
You might be sensitive to naloxone; some people with your symptoms do better with buprenorphine alone (Subutex).

How long does a person have to go with out suboxne before they can start to feel the effects of pain killers again?
tubemasta11 2 years ago
Depends on the dose of Suboxone and the time the person was taking it. If taking a regular 8 mg dose for at least a few weeks it will take a week for the buprenorphine to be low enough for opiates to work-- although you will still be tolerant to opiates so that a high dose of opiates is required for pain relief.

"There are easier ways in medicine to make a buck, than treating addiction." not trying to be a dick, but i would like to know those easier ways.

1 Love.
mikeys95eg 2 years ago
Suboxone helps people. It does not make you high like using a opiate antagonist, it makes a person feel normal. People who are desperate and in need. People who can not be cured, hopelessness. If you have high cholestrol, you manage it, just like someone on suboxone. In addition, it blocks other opiates, so someone can take it as soon as they wake up and not be able to use for 24-36 hours bc the suboxone blocks other opiates.
danielfblackert 2 years ago
lets see how long your going to be on sub. for and not to mention how much money you are going to spend.
Its a huge money maker.
amiller201 2 years ago

2005rosebud 2 years ago

CHEEZEBURNATHADON85 2 years ago
This is utter nonsense; I let it through just to show you that there are people out there who want to confuse the issue. I don't know why-- maybe misery loves company. 'tooting' buprenorphine causes a bit less to be absorbed than taking it the usual way, because there is not enough moisture in the nasal passages to dissolve the thick, ground up mess this fool is talking about.
SuboxDoc 2 years ago
no fuck that!!!! i was on dope, methadone, and lastly suboxone, i kicked all of the above aand suboxone was one of the worse withdrawls ive ever been through and they last forever it seems. it got me away from chasing drugs but was just another problem
mackerron1983 2 years ago

Thanks.
downfan1 2 years ago
Sorry for the delay-- for other people, be sure to follow your doc's instructions as this is all dangerous stuff. IN GENERAL, a person on 2 mg of buprenorphine who takes 30 mg of methadone will not feel the methadone, as it will be blocked by the bupe. The person would then stop the buprenorphine, and stay on 30 mg of methadone-- the buprenorphine would leave the body over the next week or two.

Does Suboxone block the effects of speed?. Not ICE,, crystal meth, I'm talking your everyday speed?
dumbfunnythings 2 years ago
nope-- not at all.

People tell me being on suboxone is equivelant to having a bundle a day heroin habit at 16 migs and when you get off you have a huge tolerance.
BubSheerin 2 years ago
Most people who go on Suboxone already have a tolerance that is much higher than the tolerance caused by buprenorphine. I don't know heroin doses, but the tolerance from bupe is about equal to 30-40 mg of daily methadone.

GalaxyHorse 2 years ago 2
its alot better then methadone . its easier to get off of then herion or methadone, u dont get high of it. yes it is better then any other drug to stay off of opiates
bobisbear 2 years ago
The "sobriety" people you speak of have traded anger, control of others, and the "12 steps" for their addiction. I tried AA for years, to no avail.
I have been on subox for several years. It (and docs like you) has helped me successfully rebuild my life from a point when I thought it was hopeless. I have never increased my dose, and it doesn't make me high. It merely allows me to focus on getting well.

Thanks for giving my life back & letting me live a normal, happy life!!

i understand where your comming from and trust me, suboxone is a wonder drug. however, going through the withdrawl is what makes you never wanna take another opiod again in your life. Remember .364 of a milligram of Bupe is equiv. to 10mg of Morphine.
whoohaaXL 2 years ago
Everyone has their own opinion-- I would say that since opiate dependence lasts a lifetime, 4 years isn't too long for taking medication to treat it. If taken properly I don't see 'addiction' as possible; physical dependence, yes-- but even antidepressants cause physical dependence. 'Addiction', though, is mental obsession for the drug; all of my long-term patients don't even think about Suboxone. Their biggest problem is forgetting to take it! That is NOT addiction.

SuboxDoc 2 years ago
ive kicked dope hundreds of times i no the deal. im sure suboxin helps a lot of people..it is also being sold in the streets. they should start their own fellowship and call it "im clean, but im on drugs" . just acknowledge that "N.A." is a program of COMPLETE ABSTINANCE OF ALL DRUGS. people on suboxin and methodone come to N.A. meetings, where they are welcome, and disrespect our program by claiming clean time. i have sponsored people on suboxin, and will help them when their ready.
hoofmun 2 years ago

I have 3 childern and basically didnt have NO ONE to help me kick cold turkey to take care of them while I did that so I had to go that route but I wouldnt recommend it to any pill user.
chrissys31 2 years ago
hoofmun, were you just "Hoofed" in your head repeatedly as a child, or are you actually just that f'ing stupid?. From what retarded comments you have left it is clear that you are one who is disrespectful. You know nothing, only how not to spell. If you've kicked dope "hundreds" of times, then you have never really been clean have you? the answer is plainly no. You are I am sure, just a sad sad person, who only seems to be able to function by trying to make others feel as worthless as yourself.

in 12-step recovery, people on suboxone are welcome, however, when it comes to treating addiction, your not CLEAN if you take drugs to treat addiction. especially narcotics. you can treat sleep disorders, or depression, thats an outside issue, drugs to treat addiction, your not clean period, what part of that dont you understand?

if u are on subs for a while. how bad is it really? do u really get soooo addicted to these subs that its worse than the addiction before? it cant be! i thought subs break up your compulsive behavior and allow healing of your receptors? if you were to put a oxycontin 80mg tab on the table, and a 8mg tab sub right next to it, (i know their different drugs and it would be diffucult 2 compare) but how big of a difference in strengh is there?

I just wanted to say thanks doc for spreading this information. I am addicted to oxycodone and have been for about two years. I have been weighing my options and I have been looking into suboxone. I have watched all of your videos and have learned a lot. I will be seeing an addiction therapist for the first time tomorrow and will talk to him about it. I had one question for you. Is naloxone "activated" when your snort suboxone (the effect that occurs from "shooting up suboxone")?
dirtbiker2868 3 years ago
If your friend only took hydrocodone for 3 months, why did he search out a doctor for Suboxone (there weren't many of them 4 years ago!), go to the office, and pay money for Suboxone? Hmmm...
Suboxone does not 'cure addiction'-- never heard anyone claim it did. And it does not 'feed' receptors; it induces static tolerance by binding and changing calcium flow into the neuron. With chronic use you don't get 'high'- on that you are simply wrong. And your 'opinion' is at odds with medical science.
SuboxDoc 3 years ago
So...what do you tell the folks that have been on suboxone for years and CANNOT get off? I know of a person..was taking minimum hydrocodone for 3 months....has now been on suboxone for four years (at 24mgs!) and can't get off. some sub docs should be jailed.
Suboxone DOES NOT cure addiction. It feeds your opiate receptors so that you don't go into withdrawals. period. and...it CAN get you high.
In my opinion...sub is most effective when used as a short-term detox tool.....only.
jsavite 3 years ago
Well, guy...one of the reasons that these "angry" people are so angry is the sudden realization when they try to get off this drug, after months of being on it, that their doctor lied to them about the painlessness in coming off the drug. the doctor lied to them about this being an opiate and how you can get addicted to this opiate like any others. really funny how doctors who have never taken this drug minimize the reports (especially the negative) of those who have.
benpharmer 3 years ago
'Guy', I can't speak for every doc out there-- people ALWAYS have to pick the right doctor, whether for Suboxone or to have their gallbladder removed. At any rate, your 'bad' subox doc didn't make you an opiate addict-- and going on Suboxone at WORST only delayed the inevitable. You needed to go through withdrawal to get your tolerance down AT SOME POINT. That withdrawal is a consequence of YOUR ADDICTION-- not a consequence of Suboxone. Your anger is displaced.

Suboxone does not have any effect on Xanax or Klonopin. Those belong to a class of medications called 'benzodiazepines'; they can be dangerous when combined with opiates, including Suboxone, unless you are tolerant to the opiates, as they can increase the amount of respiratory depression.

xanax and klonopins will still work as they bind to different receptors than opiates.
