Finally a video that shows both sides :) For a moment I thought that I was the only one who had favorite cars at both ends of the import- Domestic spectrum (no rice burners, sorry). I might as well name them, seeing as I am surrounded by gearheads.
Import- 63 Datsun Fairlady (impossible to rice, there is no room for a spoiler)
Domestic- 70 Mercury Cougar (with the proper modifications of course)
we all know that both imports and domestics can be riced out pretty badly. my issue is that i see maybe one or two riced domestics every day, but quite a few riced imports.
The problem that i see is that with some muscle american cars for example Mustangs have big V8s that pump out what around 300hp and 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds. Whilst Subaru has a 2liter turbo which can pump out 350 or 400. Or even BMW which can have a V8 pumping out 400 hp. I think American muscle is more for it's sound than anything. I'm not a big car person but from what I'v read and researched this seems to be the case.
@2legofreak youre not seeing the whole picture. a 300hp mustang would be the 05-10 generation. that does 0-60 in the low 5s. also, mustangs arent a great example of american muscle. the strength of these cars is the pushrod engine (as in the camaro, and challenger, though thats a hemi, so slightly different story). the thing with pushrod engines is that theyre very very small for their displacement. for example, the ls7 (a 7.0L a 505hp engine) is physically smaller than a DOHC V6

Nice vid. I am v8 fan myself, but can appreciate ANY fast car, especially if its put together right. I have to say tho that there is way more room to build power (especially NA) with a v8. without power adders imports are waay limited. As far as racing goes muscle cars are some of the pioneers, and if you come up against the right one, you're in for rude awakening.

More hp with better fuel economy for the price. And the rest of the muscle cars are right behind the civic. V6s and V8s.

ok i retract my original statement that supras are highway queens. The supra is a good car with a good motor. They can make big power on there stock block but the fastest supras in the world have 10s of thousands of dollars invested in those cars. They aren't street legal let alone street driven. And that opens up the door to start doing custom race motors on a muscle that can be just as fast for around the same price. Like i said before supras are nothing special. They are not unbeatable.

There are muscle cars that hold world records too. So yes the supra is not all that special, its just a good car. And there is not street legal 7 sec supras. The way they ran to get to 7 secs was not legal. Drag slicks, race gas, parachute, wheelie bar, and no emissions equipment on them would be an automatic failure at inspection. They is no good automatic transmission that comes from the factory for high hp applications. Thats why so many companies make new trannys that can hold the extra hp.

My definition of street legal is able to pass state inspection in the exact way you would race your car. Not detune it so that it will pass then retune so it can make more hp again. The parachute and wheelie bar i'll let go because those are NHRA safety rules. But drag slicks won't pass inspection, and you know damn well that those supras with the world records and running 7 and 8 second 1/4 mile are on slicks. Don't try to tell me they're not, i've watched the videos.

The other thing that your car needs to pass, and this is the most important part, is emissions. If you have a car that is 1974 and older your in the clear because there was no emissions laws back then. If you have a 1996 and newer vehicle it is obd2 and your can trick your computer into saying that it passes. But if you have a car from 1995 and older ur fucked cause they put the emissions analyzer up your tailpipe to see exactly how much your car is polluting. Ur car either passes or it doesn't.

Nice vid. I am v8 fan myself, but can appreciate ANY fast car, especially if its put together right. I have to say tho that there is way more room to build power (especially NA) with a v8. without power adders imports are waay limited. As far as racing goes muscle cars are some of the pioneers, and if you come up against the right one, you're in for rude awakening.

Older muscle cars can make even more hp than new muscle cars because old ones are not restricted by emissions laws. Thats why there is 1500+ hp muscle cars from that era that are street legal. And your statement about gas mileage is another typical ricer statement. Again modern muscle cars are right there with the imports. 2011 Ford Mustang V6 will have 305 hp with 30 mpg where as the current Civic Si has 197 hp with 29 mpg. More hp with better fuel economy for the price. And the rest of the muscle cars are right behind the civic. V6s and V8s.

ok i retract my original statement that supras are highway queens. The supra is a good car with a good motor. They can make big power on there stock block but the fastest supras in the world have 10s of thousands of dollars invested in those cars. They aren't street legal let alone street driven. And that opens up the door to start doing custom race motors on a muscle that can be just as fast for around the same price. Like i said before supras are nothing special. They are not unbeatable.

There are muscle cars that hold world records too. So yes the supra is not all that special, its just a good car. And there is not street legal 7 sec supras. The way they ran to get to 7 secs was not legal. Drag slicks, race gas, parachute, wheelie bar, and no emissions equipment on them would be an automatic failure at inspection. They is no good automatic transmission that comes from the factory for high hp applications. Thats why so many companies make new trannys that can hold the extra hp.

My definition of street legal is able to pass state inspection in the exact way you would race your car. Not detune it so that it will pass then retune so it can make more hp again. The parachute and wheelie bar i'll let go because those are NHRA safety rules. But drag slicks won't pass inspection, and you know damn well that those supras with the world records and running 7 and 8 second 1/4 mile are on slicks. Don't try to tell me they're not, i've watched the videos.

The other thing that your car needs to pass, and this is the most important part, is emissions. If you have a car that is 1974 and older your in the clear because there was no emissions laws back then. If you have a 1996 and newer vehicle it is obd2 and your can trick your computer into saying that it passes.
