  • sweet! lol my kids r fighting over who saw this first! rotfl

  • so elegant. thank you.

  • its art

  • You"re most kind!

  • What a wonderful sculpture. Truly visionary. I hope you sell it .... and many more like it!

  • Many thanks...I moulded the hand myself in alginate from life and then cast it in hard plaster.

The re-worked pieces were then moulded in silicon rubber before casting them out in polyurethane resin.

  • hey really great piece. out of curiosity, did you cast the hand yourself or was it something off the shelf? if the former, what material did you cast using? nice action!

  • this is awesome!

I hope you sell it -- definitely a beautiful piece

  • beautifully made!

  • Very creative and nicely crafted. Whenever I see something like this I wish I had thought of it!

Are the cam followers spring loaded against the top of the cams, or does gravity take care of that for you?

  • @pitts8rh Thank you for your compliments...gravity does the job as you suggest...sounds like you might be an engineer?

  • I am also into kinetic sculpture and hope to use it more in my future artworks! Keep up the great work; really inspiring!

  • @automatonman Thanks, it's realy genius idea.

  • Firstly I moulded a woman's hand and produced a hard plaster cast. This I then carefully cut up and made to articulate with some additions. Finally five moulds were made (one for each finger and one for the main part of the hand). These I used to cast the final version you see.

  • Beautiful! A little creepy, but beautiful! ;D

And this may seem strange, but I absolutely love the sound of it as you turn the crank. Music to my ears.

  • @jerm5 I knew it wouldn't sound 'tinny" as the construction is quite heavy but you can't predict how a machine will sound.....many thanks for your message.

  • @automatonman Beautiful work. The sound is based on the mic used, and its placement, so if you play with that, different results occur.

  • @automatonman It's a very woody sound.

  • @Jonny5rd Many thanks for your kind comments...it's really nice to get!

  • The movement is wonderfully fluid and "real". I know how challenging that is! Fantastic piece :)

  • this is great :D
