who knows what our previous reincarnations were some of us might've even been warriors of bhagats of the guru maybe some of us were so blessed that we wrote gurbani in the sri guru granth sahib ji dont say im a disgrace cuz i believe that but i do know that many sikhs believe in a meeting with the guru in this earth....but that would be the best thing to ever of happened to anyone learning what u did in ur previous life and learning u wrote paath like bhagat ravidas ji or their servant
for sikhs its about being one with the creator...becoming self incarnate..living where the gurus live meaning after we die we might go to either animal reincarnation...become self incarnate...or go to another life each would suck except the self incarnate stuff i think one thing that the gurus have to give each sikh is a chance to of served them when they were on earth....i mean there in the time of Bhagat RaviDas Ji
Nice video, but I don't feel it showed the diversity of the Sikh people very well. A wider group of people should have been interviewed, with more faces and personalities shown. We Sikhs are a very heterogenous population, with our own distinctive personalities, even though we share common values.
Thank You very much , this has really helped me as a Sikh. I hope Americans will better understand us , I don't have to change myself , but change my mindset =)
@BigDummy23 im fron london im 17 and sikh i ddint know so manys sikhs lived in the usa you nevere see them on tv its always white people and black poeple i want to move to sudden california like newport beach or laguna beach is there mnay sikhs there and how to white poeple treat brown sikhs dere
SSA . Small Correction : Guru Gobind Singh Ji baptized the sikhs with the 5 K's,NOT Guru Nanak Dev Ji , as the speaker Veer Sukhcharan Singh mentions in the above video..That might just be a genuine error on his part & the word guru nank might be in his mind , since he's president of the guru nanak sikh society .. Secondly, let us not lose track of the most important philosophies of sikhism..meditate on god's name , do kirat or good karm , & share before eating , care for your fellow man..
a humble request to the people who have cut their hair...you have already insulted our religion enough...now do us a favor and stop calling your self sikh...
@0311forever no ego brother...its just that seeing people loosing sikhy track and not realizing it or even worse justifying it makes me feel sad and thus anger sometimes busts out...
@hunkpunk123 A sikh is truly a SIKH from the inside out. The last, should be the image of a complete singh. Most Sikhs who keep there hair are shallow, ego driven hypocrits. We lose sight of teaching the joy of sikhi, the love Guru Granth Sahib Ji has to offer and immediatly bash others.
@hunkpunk123 It's like when i used to go to the gurdwara and the baba would force us to sit there and teach in this very strict manner. I lost faith [that was then] today Punjabis are leaving Sikhi because no one teaches with love, they go to the gurdwara and see the religion of their fathers and mothers not of their own, because it's more appealing to hang out with friends than to learn from a baba who is more interested in the money coming in from the Bebe's and the Uncles.
@hunkpunk123 Hey I cut my hair when i was 12, joined the Marines as an infantryman, while there i got in touch with sikhs who taught me the true meaning of universal love, there I fell in LOVE with Sikhi... and decided to keep my Khes. I am by no means an expert but i do understand, we are creating resentment and beforee you know it... our quom will be divided by caste, colour, creed... everything we stand against. I look at a good practicing sikh and i see all the patients in the world :D
@twistedwest1 that dont make sense im a 18 year old boy and i dont wear a turban i shave eat meat drink and even eat beef wot would you call me im suppose to be sikh
@lokrenzo then your not a sikh. you idiot hindus dont eat beef so i dont know why you metioned you do cus it dousent matter in sikhism what kind of meat it is we cant it meat nor cut hair or drink. dont see whats your point here.
@lokrenzo ur not a sikh at all, u do not embrace the most basic sikh principles which define what the least sikh should be, basically ur not a sikh... change ur ways and become a proper sikh
@lokrenzo im sikh i would reply with...who cares what people think...all i know is no1 knows ur life deeds or ur reincarnations what if u served the gurus when they were on earth...and survived as a fearless worry...or a person who even wrote Gurbani for the gurus, like Bhagat Ravidas Ji...and u become one with God....thats all that matters who cares if people call u a fake sikh u might've even got gurus darshan so who gives a crap what these morons think of u
those who say they had to give up their identity( hair) in order to fit into the cultureare well lying...
i was born in uk...stayed their till the age of 16 ...did my high school in india...undergrad in canada and went to US for 1 year on an exchange program.
i never faced any kind of discrimination or problem because of my identity...
in fact i would like to add that...when i was in US, i met so many white and black people, both men and women who have become sikh with prober beard and turban
hunk u r absolutely right if the white people can leave their culture of drinking, smoking, dishonouring their hair then why can't these people do it that's what i don't get, its a shame that people born in punjabi family are going behind those white sikhs but there is no difference between white sikh or black sikh we are all the same we accept gods will, god has made us like this and we will stay in this form and now u lot can argue much as you like
can u be a muslim without doing namaz? can u be a christain without accepting jesus? can u be a boodhist without accepting buddha?
The answer is no therfore u can never be a Sikh if you dishonur your hair. First of all learn the meaning of Sikh, Sikh is a disciple who follows the teaching of the teacher and that teacher is Shiri Guru Granth Sahib JI, and let me tell you all one thing Hair is not an identity of Sikh rather an identity of humanity but u need be a human first to become Sikh
who knows what our previous reincarnations were some of us might've even been warriors of bhagats of the guru maybe some of us were so blessed that we wrote gurbani in the sri guru granth sahib ji dont say im a disgrace cuz i believe that but i do know that many sikhs believe in a meeting with the guru in this earth....but that would be the best thing to ever of happened to anyone learning what u did in ur previous life and learning u wrote paath like bhagat ravidas ji or their servant

americans are a blinkered lot and, unless a person is white and christian, that person will always be considered as an outsider.
The fault lies not with the Sikh but with the blinkered, ignorant, unwilling to learn person.
So, be proud to be of your Sikh heritage - WE know what we are.

ma98h 2 years ago 3
@ma98h you shoud search on Bhai Taru singh ji who got himself scalped alive , but refused to trim his hair
What are you getting in return for cutting your hair ?
Bhai Taru sing was given offer of comforts of women who would serve him , huge properties , horses and social prestige .
He was threatened to get his hair cut . He preferred getting himself scalped rather than having his hair cut .
aman113 2 years ago
@ma98h O friend , From my experience , a Sikh can never have love for his guru when he cuts his hair .
Kesh is ' guru di mohar ' ( guru's blessing ) .
