  • Wow!! What else needs to be said.

  • klkhere, behave mate, u obviously dont know good music when u hear it.

  • Fantastic stuff!!

  • the funny camera man :D 0:34

  • I put these groovy cats up there with the Grateful Dead.....RIP Lowell George!

  • one of my favorite bands - saw them live back in the day - they were so powerful that their music spread people out in front of the stage. If you could handle the juice, you could walk right up to the front and do some serious boogeying...

  • @dharmasanctuary I never got a chance to see them live. Man, I bet that show was stellar! Was like a Dead show? Dancing and stuff?

  • @PlanTonto - total dancing and grooving in front of the stage with a surprising amount of room to move around. It was at a college, so there weren't that many 'heads' in attendance. The music was so powerful and the band was so on, that not everybody could handle the energy. Bill Payne on keyboard was awesome. It didn't hurt that I was incredibly high that night....one of my all-time favorite concerts...

  • @dharmasanctuary Wow! Sounds like an awesome time. I caught The Dead about 6 years back, it was a great show, but not the same. I sincerely wish I would have caught some "Feat"...

  • They Were great!

  • Is it even legal for white guys to be this soulful?

  • 3.14 ns always funny ,,,,,great song by a great band

  • lowell looks so fried lol

  • THER A FAT MANE IN MY CAR.!!

  • I saw them in '78 in Ithaca. Opened with Fat Man. Unbelievable. Change my life. Never looked back

  • lowell looks like a columbian drug lord here, very pablo escobar

  • @msb105 i love the look...maybe you would do better to change!!

  • me3an song!

  • nice

  • Pure ear candy de luxe XDD

  • この曲の、ギター(スライド含め)殆ど、PAUL BARRERE さんだ。知らなかった。

  • This version is better than the one on "Waiting for Columbus".. I could listen to this all damn day!

  • @Syncroincity I hear..this is the best I've heard so far.

  • gotta love that band!!

  • lowell George played with the original Mothers of Invention 68-69

look for great video of Steve Vai talking about interviewing with Zappa for a job

  • I would rate this one in the the top five Little Feat videos and return often to visit and party!

  • Just a thought. Perhaps they hit the wrong button firt time round? bearing in mind how easy it can be, when, as we all know how "Smoke get's in your eye".

Don't be fooled by the numbers.

  • Listening to this wonderful band on YouTube while holding the LP from the 70's :) :) :)

  • Must be my 2nd fave of all. Jackson Browne is my first but totally different worlds. Thats the way I roll. LOL

  • Fab stuff here, 9 losers need exterminating!

  • AHHHHHHH!!!! Awesome!

  • soul and funk and undeniable

  • feat and zep. two live rock bands who really PLAYED!

  • This is just timeless....class is permanent, as they say....

  • I must have watched this a zillion times!!! Just can't get enough!!! So awesome!!!

  • 8 people that obviously don't have a clue. Going to get some steel toes right now

  • R.I.P. Mr Lowell....

  • @billybob6087 Oh yes, George died much too soon...I don't know...early out might not be so bad. Maybe it's just us that feel deprived. I met him in D.C....He drank way too much (so did I). Damn, though, that band was great Just as good live (maybe better) than on their albums.

  • best r&b band in the world still

  • All I want is some good clean fun :)

  • I was lucky enough to see them in London in 75 but this gig looks great.

  • Yes I DO like this clip! Mighty good performance of a real "studio" classic - live!

"The Feat" were the musicians' musicians of this era, mostly in the studio (like Steeleye Dan) and of course with untimely tragedy... Wow! A good time.

    Great clip. Thanks for sharing!

  • Who heard this from leaves of grass??? anyone? Great fuckin' song nonetheless

  • Love Kenny Gradney in the disco outfit-perfect.

  • too absolutely cool. with linda ronstadt, extra absolutly.

  • lowell is the most underrated musician ever.

  • My favorite band EVER!!!!!!

  • The greatest band EVER. RIP Lowelll and Ritchie.

  • @klkhere I remember when I heard about LG's death,I was listening to WNEW-fm, in the car over by Kean College -I almost had a crash on North Ave; when I took it all in.I forget who the DJ. was but he said it so matteroffactly (I suck at spelling lol!) that I almost lost it. But I'm still willin'. I'm sure you know what I mean. From an old Deadhead to you. Peace Out.....)0( G.

  • @klkhere yep. easily the best band ever....right after the Beatles, Stones, The Who, The Band, The Grateful Dead, the Clash, The Allman Brothers, The Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin, The Velvet Underground.

But don't get me wrong. everyone should dig the 'Feat.

  • Lowell looks almost skinny here. Not an easy feat (no pun intended!)

Good stuff! Not quite the same without Gloria Jones's lusty backing vocals but hey, can't have everything. :)

  • Dual slide guitars and that awesome voice, they were the coolest.

  • idk, could use a little more cowbell

  • Is this song about President Taft?

  • Lowell is the best!!! RIP

  • No boisterous and boring bling necessary here just bad-ass to the bone. Alliteration..I love it.

  • lol the butt dance at 3:16

    FeatFreak for life bros.

  • only band to get close to feat is derick and the dominos

  • Paul Barrere apparently was watching and learning from Lowell on the slide. Very nice! Lowell was just amazing. What presence. I hope he and Jerry are jamming in the heavenly choir. Loss after loss, but we have such great memories and tapes, audio and video. Thank you everyone who has posted this wonderful material.

  • Getting all clean.

Somewhere, I have the 33-1/3 rpm LP of this song. A flood or two has probably cleaved the jacket to the vinyl, never again to be spun on the Dual 510 turntable with the neon speed monitor.

    YT is so cool.

  • who are the idiot's who put up the dislikes????? This is probably the best band there ever was!!!!!

  • needs more cow bell. lol

  • That crowd must have been, "Who the f--k are THESE GUYS!!"

Lowell's vocals are as perfect on stage, as in the Studio.

    What Pro's

  • Little Feat just may be my favorite of all times!

  • @inatizzy2 "MAY BE"????

  • @DalonCole No question, my Fav!

  • More Cowbell!

  • I missed this festival and my last chance to see Lowell before he died because I was getting over an acid trip and other pleasures from the day before. Bummer.

  • @ZesCoupe You should have waited a day. LF w/LG on a nice mellow trip were f'n great!!!

  • 客馬鹿杉

  • 1.45 ...Got to love men swinging their hips in jeans!

Fun tune...and some good old Music:-)

  • i was 1year old and i need to meet them 6

  • Why isn't there a choice for "Superlike!"

  • perhaps 6 people hit the wrong button, or need a smoke

  • 1976 83º

  • F E A T !!!!

  • Apparently, there are 6 people who could use a good ass-kicking.

  • @frankdpainter Performed by a freshly-bathed fat man!

  • @frankdpainter Thumbs up for the amount of people who tried to copy your joke

  • @frankdpainter Really? So people aren't allowed to have a different opinion? That, in brief, is the problem with the world.

  • @frankdpainter - AMEN - The beating is an underrated and under utilized tool in our society.

  • @frankdpainter fuck 'em, their loss

  • @frankdpainter The number of Whoppers has grown to 8!

  • @frankdpainter by last count today it is 8 . But you got it right. Steel toed attire required.

  • @frankdpainter ...make that 9....

  • Thanks I'll Eat it Here

I didn't get it at first. It's a bit smooth on the edges. But it's one of the great overlooked albums of all time.

His version of What Do You Want the Girl to Do? is for the ages.

And his Can't Stand the Rain is another perfect rendition of an eternal song.

Twenty Million Things: So personal, so beautiful.

It seemed a bit overly commercial at the time but Thanks I'll Eat it Here is a truly wonderful collection of songs by one of our gifted & honest brothers in song.

  • I'm a huge Lowell fan & have been since the Feat's eponymous debut album.

But frankly, Lowell looks a bit junked up in the close-ups & Barrere 's & Payne's commandeering of the band is pretty obvious. Even Waiting for Columbus, as great as it is, has its spotty moments. Lowell & Tower of Power: Nothing better. Barrere & Payne & their phoney jazz & synthesizers, not so much.

  • I need to know why five people don't like this. Is that a mental illness?

  • @Sillach lol...i think it's obvious, they don't like checkin oil...aight!!!

  • @Sillach yea those people that dislike it must be a lady gaga fan for sure, haha

  • He blazed like a comet, but like a meteor, he fell to the ground.

  • Nice frikkin Strat!

  • Please someone release a dvd of this performance!

Lowell + band on top form

    Love them forever!

    dreamcommander1

  • Finally , there is enough cowbell.

  • And he was sooo wasted on this. Guess thats why he died huh. LOVE LOWELL 4 ever!

  • It's no small feat!

    peace :)

  • I loves me some Little Feat.

  • wow love the cow bell, great call on jack black FEAT!

  • just saw these blokes in australia.

  • If Yall wana catch a current band with the soul and groove of these guys, cheak out J.J. Grey and Mofro. I know the hard core fans will scoff, but they put on a great show.

  • Lowell Goddamn George. How can a guy born and raised in Hollywood have that much soul? Unbelievable.

  • Fabulous! This is the band I always wanted to be in, with Lowell George. God a-mighty this is fine!

  • I got a fever, and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!!

  • This sounds like music...

  • @Zanik99 You dang right, this IS music!!!! Lord, I miss those times. But at least we get to keep the music.

  • Why is there a "dislike" button here?

  • @oeddie99 Amen. Anyone who doesn't like this hates puppies, children, and America.

  • @oeddie99 hahaha! good one!

  • i CAN TELL THEY USED NEWVICON CAMERAS! LOL

  • Saw them live on the Last Record Album Tour at the Hammersmith Odeon 75 or 76 shit wh's counting. This has got to be band of the millenium all time. I just can't believe that any living sentienant bieng could fail to move. Loved it then love it always.

    Thanks just wonderful.

  • @zitadel1 Their post-Lowell, post-Shawn tunes have been hit or miss, but I still think dancing to "Rock and Roll Doctor" at a Feat show is the closest thing to public sex you can have and not get arrested.

PS: I saw them for the first time in '76, too :-). Still have the shirt.

  • @notanotheraccount I saw them for the first time in 1978 and I still have my shirt, too! And I agree completely on your dancing comment!

  • @zitadel1 "This has got to be (the) band of the millennium..." you got that right. There will never be another band like them, never. I wish I could return to the 70s. The world lost one of the most talented musicians when Lowell died. I saw them play in Torrington CT in 2009. 9 people here have no soul.

  • @gearhdmusicmn Thanks bros. It's good to know you all out there They just don't seem to see it now days. Nostalgia's just not what it used to be.

They are the be immortals. I delight in our shared total uncomprehension as to how you could place yourself amongst the NINE! Try as I may my head just cant go there Just how distorted does your concept of reality the universe and everything have to be

  • ya come back monday, come back tuesday

  • in my opinion. 1 of the greatest bands ever! Been a fan since"Richard's" Atlanta 1972!

  • damn i love me some little feat too

  • Absolutely awesome!

Happy birthday Lowell, may you R.I.P.

Check out the speakers at about 4:00!!

  • I second that...Little Feat live in Washington, DC, during the seventies and the early eighties were the best band I ever saw live..numerous times.

  • The best band I ever saw live.

  • Hidden gem.

  • Ritchie Hayward was one of the greates drummers who could hold a groove better than anyone. Miss that man.

  • @recordguy4321 Yes I just read that Ritchie passed ....,man,.. the drumming of Ritchie Hayward ...he had that groove that very few had really no one played exactly like Ritchie except Ritchie ,,an amazing drummer ,the world of music lost one of the best drummers ever ,..

  • My very first concert, Little Feat with Lowell George, Waiting for Columbus tour, James Madison University, age 13. Smoked about 15 joints in the arena but stayed alert enough to realize that what I was watching was fucking unbelievable!

  • catching a plane to boston and picked up a rolling stone mag and saw where lowell passed couldn't believe it,wasn't out of the country but a very short time, one of the best bands around, still have the mag

  • I have never trusted ANYONE who won't dive for dimes.

  • Probably the best Feat video I have seen. Thanks for sharing it.

  • 4:00 A nice shot of the PA speakers! It's as if they heard me asking! no one does that in videos anymore :(

  • I'd been thinking of music which I'd like to have a certain list of ingredients and whether there were a band which contained them: early Steely Dan, The Band, Nawlins funk.. was sure there had to be one. I was thinking it was a name something like Canned Heat, lol! Tried googling 'country-soul' - which brought up Amos Lee (very fine), which brought me here. Of course..Little Feat!

  • Was so lucky to be there and then. An amazing day. This footage is shot and soundprocessed by the crew of the national Dutch television way back in 76. Things were primitive then; the scaffolding in front of the band.. Almost no lightning, because it was daytime (!) Truly unique, and never seen or heard since.

  • @woody1955 Woody, my man, you got that so right. This was state of the art at the time and just good enough to capture all the right nuances. Look at the glazed faces on them Dutch boys and girls! They ain't never seen nuthin' like it. This is truly AMERICAN music. It's a frickin' melting pot of country, funk, boogie-woogie, R&R with subversive jazz licks underneath courtesy of Mr. Payne and that arsenal of keyboards he's packin'.

  • The funk!

  • Do these boys make you smile or what? When they hit the groove, there was nobody to match Little Feat. 1976 eh? Jeez...

  • When Lowell left Frank Zappa's band, Frank states that "George left to start a country band with a funky beat". That he did! Awesome

  • God I loved these guys. Too bad Lowell George did a John Belushi just when he was hitting the top! Rest in peace, Lowell and Richie. "All I want in my life and time is some good clean fun"

  • @martykate Lowell passed from a heart attack, friends. Also had HepB, hypertension and sky-high cholesterol. The man was a myocardial infarc waitin' to happen.

  • @cigargurl He also did a speedball and that set things into motion. As Bill Payne put it, Lowell would take 2 steps forward and five steps back. some of the most talented are the most self destructive

  • @martykate (sigh) You got a point, my man. He was also a heavy smoker and known for his fondness for Courvoisier. It all woulda caught up with him eventually. But damn, what a talent while we had him.

  • Check the tight polyester shirts, truly 1970's.

  • Wow this is so well filmed for back then.

  • My rule is......... when I put on "Waiting for Columbus", the album always plays through......No Interruptions ! ever ! just boogie out, and listen........

It always puts a smile on my face...... : )

  • I got a fever - and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!!!

  • my dad played this music my whole life and i am ashamed to say i did not start truly appreciating it until i was 18. i passed up an opportunity to see them in high school and now 3 or 4 years later i have seen them twice, collected all their albums, and met Bill Payne, Paul Barrere and Ken Gradney. wish i could have been around when Lowell was jamming with them. just thought i would share my story with fellow Feat fans. rest in peace Lowell and Richie!

  • @fishordie2 same here dude. My whole life all my dad listened to was feat, the who, zep, hendrix, clapton, etc. and now its all i listen too. thanks to my dad for saving me from what people call music today.

  • more cow bell please, lowell, may you always R.I.P.

  • Cigargurl you could not have said it better. They DON'T make em like this anymore. A rhythm section that reaches right through your belly, grabs a hold of your spine and rocks you back in forth to a groove you never thought you could know.

I never, ever get tired of listening to their music.

  • just brilliant.

  • I can watch this all day

  • lowell looks so good in this vid. i have the 1977 rockpalast dvd and he looks like he weighs about a hundred more pounds

  • I saw them in 1972 in Memphis at the Overton park Shell, backing Bonnie Raitt, then they blew the roof off on their own. I saw them in '77 on the final tour at the War Memorial in Nashville, unbelievable. Gave every album to my son when he was at Ole Miss and he had all of his buddies (and ladies) butt shaking to Feat music.

Best boogie band ever, Lowell was the best slide player and his voice was one of a kind, love seeing these videos in his prime.

  • Heard them first on WGOE in Richmond, Virginia when I was a freshman at Virginia Union University. I think I was the only fan on campus, so what! Loved the music and searched for this music a long time. Long live Little Feat!

  • Wow, before Lowell got fat!

  • Now..... THIS Is Little Feat. Not that band that's been trying to pass for what USED to be Little Feat. RIP Lowell !

  • Best music and lyric combination ever with "put my money in the meter baby so it won't run down, but you, got caught in squeeze play on the cheezy side of town, throw me a line, throw me a dime."

  • @omwhite83 - I loved em - was a stage manager at WIU (small hick college in Illinois) they were the nicest guys I ever met - and I lucked out and sat on the stage miss em
