Interesting film. But it does beg the question as to why the Greek army was occupying Smyrna in the first place. They should never have been there, they were unnecessary and their incredible pride and ambition drove them to invade Anatolia beyond what they were given. I know you cannot research yourself but smyrna/izmir was only 50% greek in 1918.
in 1700 it was 25%
in 1800 30%
between 1800 and 1900 greeks grew to 50%. because of the greek immigration from the agean islands. nobody was living there for 3000 years. between 1200 and 1400 there was no city of smyrna it was a village and castle.
