i watched this film when i was sentenced to a behavioral school after i was caught with pills. many kids in the class would say theyd never do the type of "bullying" and other shit the kids do in this film. and it was great to see some of them in the lunch room (of around 35 kids) tell others to stop bullying this fat kid who was like 12 when the rest of us were 16+ this film should be shown in class rooms every year
This movie is over dramatic, but it was exceptional for its time.
I'm not saying bulling doesn't happen, because it does and most people experience in their lives, but at the same time they target this specif group of people, when really, no one is excluded from bullying. I just think they focus too hard on making him out to be a bad kid
@nadaleex3 You don't understand the movie then. It's not that Trevor is a bad kid, it's that they've decided his is a bad kid. At one point in the movie they explain that a year before this, he was a role model student. The point is that this is what bullying can drive a person to and if you sign them off as a trouble maker instead of helping them, you condemn them to follow the path you believe they'll go down.
Yeah.. being non-popular in school sucked. I didn't really mind not having popular friends but I hated how the popular kids got us in trouble for wearing happy bunny, chains, makeup, and halloween costumes. They were allowed to wear mid riff showing clothes, super short skirt and even bikini tops.. I'll never understand it..
what i dont understand is AFTER he plants a bomb (that was made perfectly and all that was missing was the ignition) they still try to piss this kid off. how stupid can people be.
its funny because in my high school we had sports guys (jocks) but they were quite cool people, the ones that did the bullying were the Gangsta' types...heavily latino and black populated high schools are way different...
@JuanOfaKind88 It was the same in my high school in the 90s. Most of the people that played sports or that were popular in general were cool. Most of the bullying was by black kids towards whites, asians, middle eastern, other blacks and latino's that kept to themselves. Most hispanics that bullied did it to other hispanics and it was usually towards ones that couldn't speak spanish. Whites bullied other whites, but not as much as blacks did.

With the psychological disorders aside obviously, does anyone think the fact that schools implement zero tolerance policies feed into the fact of such violent outcomes? considering that no kids can throw a punch without getting expelled theres no catharsis

I remember when i was accused of talking in class. My teacher obviously had an outburst. I got so fucken pissed at him when he yelled at me through the whole class. I was playin with my lip while he was talkin and he grab my hand and pushed it away from my face. My buddies reported him. I guess he got fired.

I'm so glad that my school district required all 8th grade classes to see this movie. I really think it had a huge impact on the students' views on bullying and the true impact that it truly has. I just wish that school systems all across the nation required classes to watch this movie.

I used to get bullied alot and then not to long ago i wrote a story about a school shooting. But in the epilouge i was trying to prevent them. But some kids found out about the story and thought i was going to blow up the school and i got suspended for a bunch of idiots paranoia

@herman9737 Oh, I know what it feels like man. Heck, the first few years at school, I had a very hard time getting by, as I felt helpless. I didn't know what to do. My parents did literally nothing to try and stop it, even though I tried hard to make em understand how big of a problem the bullying was. Eventually, I sort of found my place, and it stopped... but my point is that I never once wanted to go out and KILL anyone. ESPECIALLY not innocent people.
@coolcolton30 word of advice.............Hollywood & high School do not mix because high school is an environment where people choose to be close-minded in regards to creativity so therefore, people won't understand that you were not trying to alarm anyone even if you did have some valid arguments to defend yourself.

What makes no sence about ZERO tollerance is that it is Completley ok if its a popular student or jock harrasing or hurting a nonathlete or unpopular student its completley ok. but when the victim of bullying takes a stand and defends themselvs its a crime.

I remember when i was accused of talking in class. My teacher obviously had an outburst. I got so fucken pissed at him when he yelled at me through the whole class. I'm so glad that my school district required all 8th grade classes to see this movie. I really think it had a huge impact on the students' views on bullying and the true impact that it truly has. I just wish that school systems all across the nation required classes to watch this movie.

@herman9737 Oh, I know what it feels like man. Heck, the first few years at school, I had a very hard time getting by, as I felt helpless. I didn't know what to do. My parents did literally nothing to try and stop it, even though I tried hard to make em understand how big of a problem the bullying was. Eventually, I sort of found my place, and it stopped... but my point is that I never once wanted to go out and KILL anyone. ESPECIALLY not innocent people.
