Who the fuck cares about who wins a race about going around a track. Everyone wants the crash to happen, and then when it dose you feel bad. Its why ppl still watch is to see ppl die, sorry to say but humans are fucked up.
No offense but why does IndyCar even try to compete with NASCAR running these fast tracks? Call me a dick but seriously! They had 34 IndyCars in a pack at 220 mph and the drivers were nervous about running this track! IZOD needs to just have the Indy 500 and continue being America's F1...
Indy car is a smaller shitter wannabe version of Formula 1 and being regulated by Americans it isn't up to a standard especially with safety. open wheeled cars raced on a track like that in the first is just not right. Seriously open wheeled cars that are purpose built for racing going that fast should have far better safety standards. these days an accident like that would never happen in F1, F2, F3 or formula ford. governing body is to blame for this.
@jamabar what a load of shit. I love both series but many of the major safety changes in Formula One have COME FROM Indycar series. It is certainly not a wannabe version of F1, its nothing like F1. They have their own style of racing, rules, promotion and in many ways the presentation & fan treatment and racing is much better. Try attending a race meeting for both Indy and F1 and see the difference. I'd actually say F1 need to take a look at some of the aspects of presentation etc from Indy.
@RogerHerhard Not much racing skill involved in turning left. It's a ridiculous form of racing, to give it credit for spectator value only is crazy. One car looses control, and 20 others get smashed up.. so safety is rather non existent.
tragic yes and i do feel for the family of Dan Weldon but it is auto racing yes?
the track does look very narrow and as said the drivers had there concerns about the lay out........the bottom line is pretty obvious.......do you want to hang your ass out to dry.....34 entrants, one mistake,15 totalled cars, one death too many, lets listen more to the drivers who race questionable circuts.....enough said
It is really sad. This now proves that F1 is the most safe autoracing sport, not to say the best. With NASCAR at least, you have the protection from your vehicle. With Indy, is just idiotic how fast they are going and pointless in circuits like this. Indy should only race in real tracks and maybe one or two ovals in the whole season.
@HayZing I disagree, HAY. A true race fan considers an event to be a success when there are no crashes, and everybody goes home. We watch for the drama and skills these drivers showcase to the world. The danger is one of many elements that create the excitement, but it is only one. Nobody in their right mind wants to see death and destruction. My family has been involved in racing in it's many forms for over 40 years, and nobody has been killed. Injured, yes. And we have a 14 yo coming up. RIP.
too many god damn cars on the track!.....this is a dangerous track already and clutter it with these cars is a perfect recipe for disaster!. R.I.P Dan.
This was very sad, I not a fan of racing but still very sad, the crashes look neat, but it's terrible he died and very sad, very sad, that was a crazy crash
I'm kind of glad I couldn't watch this race, even though I stayed up the duration of the Nascar race and the Korean Grand Prix. I probably would have been sick to my stomach just like I was in Rockenfeller's crash at Le Mans this year. Damn shame for this to happen, politics be damned. They were all racing too brazenly, and the back half's inexperience prevailed in this crash. Fucking unbelievable that this should happen to anyone, but Wheldon was something special. Thoughts to the family
