from new to full moon, its the light half of the lunar cycle, and the lunar equivalent of the time from Beltaine to Samhain. Beltaine is the New Moon as Samhain is to full moon. the dark half is from full to new moon, being the lunar equivalent of the time from Samhain to Beltaine. the dark half is the time of involution, and inner work. the light half is the time of evolution and outer work.
@larouxluva Herbal Essences doesn't test on animals anymore. I used to use them and as soon as I found out that they tested on animals I quit using it. Then my friend told me that they don't test on animals anymore, and when I didn't believe her she showed me the news clipping. So now I use them again because they really are a great brand (besides the ex-animal testing=) )
uh, hey. Surprise question for ya' do you think your gonna go see Julie and Julia? JK What is that lipstick you're wearing? We have the same skin and hair and I can never decide on one. I should really ask those counter women. LOL.
@CharmingPixieFlora PLEASE STOP USING COVER GIRL they do tests on animals. so do hebal essences( putting shampoo in animals eyes to see how much it stings) i love your videos flora
hey thanks for this video. i'm new to wicca and i want to celebrate lummas. i was wondering if you could give me an idea of what to do like things you do or have done or spells you know of that way i have an idea of what should happen and then i can put my own spin on things. thanks so much and blessed be.
IF you want info on the Sabbats from a Celtic perspective and also ideas are shared too that aren't Celtic after the Lecture type portion is done. You need to have access to AOL rooms. Pagan Crossroads is a good Chatroom and we do ALL the Sabbats start 3 weeks ahead of the Sabbat and start with Ritual and Meaning then Deities and then Foods and Crafts. Thats on Sunday 10pm Est time and we are on Mabon Deities at this time this coming Sunday. Hope this helps Blessed be!
New Moon and Dark Moon are both terms to describe the phase when the moon is not visible, but some people used the term New Moon to describe the first crescent that is visible.
Love your videos, i am learning so much from you, and you are awesome! Love your sunglasses too! I f im not being too nosy where did you get them? Oh well enough og that, you are awesome with these videos, PLZ keep them coming!
I agree with the spell work. They only magical thing I do is divination for Samhain. Ohter then that Sabbats are not for me but for the Gods/Goddesses& Nature!
I only check the Moon to make sure it's not Void of Course...Everytime I have done the whole planet thing.....my spells didn't work. I use the Farmers Almanac to get the most accurate times for the Moon Cycle.
This annoys me a little - the festivals that Wiccans have taken from other cultures were originally lunar in nature (Litha refers to a lunar period, not the solstice) and when the calendar months were adopted instead of lunar, the dates were moved - but they are then no longer in touch with nature's cycles, they are manmade instead.
" Midsummer is also sometimes referred to by pagans and others as Litha, stemming from Bede's De temporum ratione in which he gave the Anglo-Saxon names for the months roughly corresponding to June and July as "se Ærra Liþa" and "se Æfterra Liþa" (the"early Litha month" and "later Litha month") with an intercalary month of "Liþa" appearing after se Æfterra Liþa on leap years. The fire festival or Lith- Summer solstice is celebrated still" I hope this helps clear up some confusion
Yes Litha was the name of the month/moon. The name was applied to those months/moons that are at the middle of summer. Before calendar months were introduced, the moons were followed. Some cultures followed mostly lunar, some used lunar and solar.
Following the phases of the moon has always been really hard for me. They dont put them on calendars anymore. I have a current moon phase thing on my myspace, but it only shows the here and now, not the future.
I agree. For the most part, I leave the Sabbats to celebrate the Goddess and God. Sometimes I will do divination on a Sabbat, but otherwise it's Esbats or another time. Talking about the moon phases and what to do in what phase was very helpful for me, as I am just starting to really learn about this. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks! :-) I wasn't entirely sure if spells were supposed to be a part of sabbats and now I know they don't have to be! And I agree with the commenter below me... if you have time, you should do a video on how to cast a circle because I have heard about so many different ways to do it, some of which seem so complicated, and it would be great if you could share with us how you cast yours.
You're awesome!!! Your videos have really helped me understand some things. I've just started this path and I'm still scared to cast a circle, maybe you can do a more in depth video about that. Thanks again!
it's the same thing with me, i don't really do spells or anything on Sabbats besides celebration, while i utalize the Esbats for different things. great video, Blessed Be

What is the difference between the New Moon and the Dark moon? Is there a difference? I thought they were the same.
charmed1tobe 2 years ago
New Moon is New Beginning Spells
Full Moon is When you need the full power of the Moon - Most spells can be done at this time.
Dark Moon is for Banishing Spells
I hope this helps

yule-imbolc = money magic, imbolc-ostara = love magic, ostara-beltane = magic of new begining, beltane-litha = fertility magic, litha-lammas = magic of power, lammas-mabon = justice magic, mabon-samhain = ending magic, samhain-yule = splitting apart magic.

This was very helpful!!
I think it's easy to get the two confused.
I too see Sabbats as Celebration!
The only spell I do on a Sabbat is a Release and Manifestation spell for the Season.
Most of my spells are done During Full and New Moon Rituals.
