I was so shocked when i first played this game, and actually like it. 999% of the time i highly dislike anything japanese.. i just hate the artstyle so much...

But I loved this game, everything about it. It was just absolutely amazing. The characters, the gameplay, the setting, the music oh gawd the fucking amazing music!!!!, the STORY. This is undoubtedly THE best game I played from this generation.

It saddens me there will never be another game like this, in the same world...

Not embarrassed to admit the music in this game makes me tear up. There's so much raw emotion in this game that alot modern game (sorry to say mostly Western) fail to show. Kaine was such a refreshing female character. Very multi-layered and unpredictable, I really love her character along with the whole cast of characters.

@Aivilo326111 This gets asked a lot. Apparently it's a made-up amalgamation of various languages. Also you should check this game out. You can get it really cheap and it's a fantastic experience, very underrated.

@GunbladeRevolver S-E didn't make it, they just published it. Cavia's the one that developed the game. Sadly, Cavia also shut down two months after the release in 2010. Nier was the last game they did, which from my point of view was one amazing way to go, but it's also disappointing since we can never know what other games they could have given the world later on :/

The shades you fight in the game aren't evil creatures meant to do harm, but replicants of humans that exerted consciousness without their original souls transferred. This is why the shades are so aggressive, because they yearn to be back in their real bodies. It's sad when you think about it. It's the reason you start off in that snowy city, because that Nier becomes the shadowlord gestalt.

@AxelTheTerminator Technically aren't the 'humans' in the game the Replicants who created their own consciousnesses? The shades that violently attack you right off the bat just went crazy due to a flaw in the Gestalt process. It still doesn't explain why they can fuse together into giant monsters though.

I sung this along with Karma, Song of the Ancients,had to have my friend sing with me or it wouldn't be the same, The Ultimate Weapon and Grandma for my cousin's graduation since he asked me to sing, and all the guests including his friends were in shock(not in a bad way.  They thought that The Ultimate Weapon was a little creepy) and asked what langauge it was in. I just told them that it was a made-up language and I don't have the english translations. They loved it and asked for a encoure!

It actually breaks away from the "Hero Saves the Day" kind of game where the main character gets his/her way and saves the world at the same time. Look I am no pessimist, but this game's depressing story/OST and characters make it good. And also finding out that every ending in this game is actually bad (Read Grimoire Nier to find out what I mean)

Devola actually says in the game when you talk to her at the fountain that it is an ancient language. The song is about the book of light (Grimoire Weiss). So no, you won't find a translation. :P Would be cool though if there was a translation.

@liloblindboi i don't know how much you know about NieR but * SPOILERS* are ahead, so please read with warning. Basically, since you kill the Gestalt version of yourself, he is no longer able to give maso to the shades, so they go crazy and eventually die out. Since the "humans" of the games are simply shells and replicants, they have no form of reproduction and therefore the "human" or shell race will die out. All because NieR (the character you play as) screwed everything up ;_;
