Much of what you say is accurate...and of course, much of it is obvious (it's always better to avoid additives if possible; common sense). However, some of what you said about MSG is VERY inaccurate. Glutamate from food doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, so your statements about neurotoxicity are incorrect.
Also, the news clip came from a Russian/English tv news station largely funded by the Russian government... so obviously that affects the slant they put on it.
I've been thinking for a while of growing my own garden after becoming more conscious about food and how it effects my body. Now this video just made me even more pissed. Why are they doing this? This is stupid? What happened to freedom of health, and possessions. My own private garden will get raided by the government? I thought my own property was mine and I can do as I please with it. Well, the new food "safety" act doesn't make it illegal to grow your own garden, just requires a license/regulation if you're planning on selling the food you grow... which makes sense.
But if they really wanted to make food safer, they should enforce strict regulations on large corporations producing the majority of the world's foods in unsanitary conditions--especially the meat industry. Some of the poultry "raised" today can't even reproduce naturally because of genetic modification.

The act is a result of the large outbreak of salmonella in eggs and and e-coli in lettuce etc. It certainly does not prevent you growing your own vegatable garden. I think it would be better to focus on educating people about the dangers (as you do well), such as addiction-like properties of additives, rather than demonising the producers, who I think aren't being malevolent and are merely supplying the demand of nice-looking food over healthiness. Essentially, it's the demand, not the supply, that needs to change.

My point was that the main reason people turn their noses up is not because of the media, but because of evolutionary adaptation to prefer food that does not look 'apparently rotten'. Basically, despite media influence, people would still prefer nicer-looking food because it's an evolved survival instinct.

Great Information. It sure makes me wants to drastically change my diet. Buy organic food etc. but In reality, can we even beleive that organic food is really organic?? As someone who is also trying as I can and where I can to pay attention to what is going into what I'm eating, I understand your concerns totally. To answer the organic question, you're right it can be hard sometimes to know what is truly organic, because even then there are still things that can be legally used on the foods grown. The only true way to have peace of mind, is to know your source of what you are getting.
Having said that......it's almost impossible anymore to change everything all at once, so my advice to you would be small steps at least initially. For example, I don't eat at or from corporate owned restaurants or chains anymore hardly, only local. I no longer eat any packaged white or even packaged wheat breads that are bought from the store, instead getting it more locally. I also don't use microwaves to heat anything period anymore, etc. Just little things, good luck!

Right, lets get this straight, Marmite contains free glutamic acids, which are analogous to monosodium glutamate (MSG). This means that although there may be a link to it it means that Marmite IS NOT only MSG. Futhermore, the amount per serving, not the percentage in bulk Marmite, is the significant factor here. I must say, you really need to look a bit further into your research.

Much of what you say is accurate...and of course, much of it is obvious (it's always better to avoid additives if possible; common sense). However, some of what you said about MSG is VERY inaccurate. Glutamate from food doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier, so your statements about neurotoxicity are incorrect.

I've been thinking for a while of growing my own garden after becoming more conscious about food and how it effects my body. Now this video just made me even more pissed. Why are they doing this? This is stupid? What happened to freedom of health, and possessions. My own private garden will get raided by the government? I thought my own property was mine and I can do as I please with it. Man this world. Now I see why 'new world order' is dangerous.

Well, the new food "safety" act doesn't make it illegal to grow your own garden, just requires a license/regulation if you're planning on selling the food you grow... which makes sense.
But if they really wanted to make food safer, they should enforce strict regulations on large corporations producing the majority of the world's foods in unsanitary conditions--especially the meat industry. Some of the poultry "raised" today can't even reproduce naturally because of genetic modification.

You went a little overboard on this safety act. The act is a result of the large outbreak of salmonella in eggs and and e-coli in lettuce etc. It certainly does not prevent you growing your own vegatable garden. @TheAntiTerrorist Food stylists exist because there is a demand from the market to make food look appealing (weather it's healthy or not). I think it would be better to focus on educating people about the dangers (as you do well), such as addiction-like properties of additives, rather than demonising the producers, who I think aren't being malevolent and are merely supplying the demand of nice-looking food over healthiness. Essentially, it's the demand, not the supply, that needs to change.

My point was that the main reason people turn their noses up is not because of the media, but because of evolutionary adaptation to prefer food that does not look 'apparently rotten'. Basically, despite media influence, people would still prefer nicer-looking food because it's an evolved survival instinct.

Usually never disagree with you, but the idea that people are turned off by apparently rotting food just because of media programming is a bit far fetched. I think it's more to do with our evolved survival instincts. Good that you're informing people, but this video is all essentially about voluntary transaction between companies and customers, rather than forced taxation or policing - voluntary consumption of food additives is a lesser evil compared to statism.

In the interest of not abusing/reusing electrons with endless chat, all I will add is this:I never said marmite is an MSG bomb,the bigger picture is that both are excitotoxins,whether naturally occurring or lab-concocted and that MSG masquerades under the name "Yeast Extract." So take it up with whatever commission is in charge of labeling food ingredients because Yeast Extract is a sanctioned cover for MSG and Marmite is a yeast extract and both are excitotoxins.

Great Information. It sure makes me wants to drastically change my diet. Buy organic food etc. but In reality, can we even beleive that organic food is really organic?? We are lied to so much by our own governments, that we never know for sure what really is truth or fact. And now that growing your own food may become illegal, ( not sure about here in Canada) but what alternative is there? Starve? More population control tactics if you ask me.

As someone who is also trying as I can and where I can to pay attention to what is going into what I'm eating, I understand your concerns totally. To answer the organic question, you're right it can be hard sometimes to know what is truly organic, because even then there are still things that can be legally used on the foods grown. The only true way to have peace of mind, is to know your source of what you are getting.

Having said that......it's almost impossible anymore to change everything all at once, so my advice to you would be small steps at least initially. For example, I don't eat at or from corporate owned restaurants or chains anymore hardly, only local. I no longer eat any packaged white or even packaged wheat breads that are bought from the store, instead getting it more locally. I also don't use microwaves to heat anything period anymore, etc. Just little things, good luck!

Right, lets get this straight, Marmite contains free glutamic acids, which are analogous to monosodium glutamate (MSG). This means that although there may be a link to it it means that Marmite IS NOT only MSG. Futhermore, the amount per serving, not the percentage in bulk Marmite, is the significant factor here. I must say, you really need to look a bit further into your research.
FYI, analogous means similar, related to but not the same as.
