  • are these moves any practical? e.g. MMA is practical

  • @Ams11121 it's called building a foundation. do you know what MMA stands for, im sure you do? Mixed Martial Arts. keyword mixed. it means it incorporates multiple fighting styles to be successful. to be competent, you need to learn basics, and progress in each fighting style, then take the strengths of each style and combine them. That is why MMA is "practical," thought it doesn't mean this routine is not valuable.

  • i like the background music. anyone know the name

  • I still don't get it. What's the purpose of this routine? I've seen before, but I've never taken martial arts.

  • music name plis!

  • I JUST REALIZED THAT I SHOULD BE DOING MY USUAL WU BU QUAN! HOW CAN I BE SO FORGETFUL?! WAAAAAAAH!

  • he do it ovr n ovr

  • This Wushu Video is better than most fucking wushu video i can find online

  • This wushu video is better than most wu bu quan i can find online

  • Better then most wushu wu bu quan that i can find online.except tat is not small boy doing it.

  • i'm started today to learn wushu, and that was my first basic Move. I have to Say that i'm in love of this martial arts. I recommended to everyone.

PD: sorry about my english LOL

  • Great way to get started.

  • I know this form. Have practiced it for years. It's a lot of fun.

  • i just learned that in 30 mins... im now in pain xD strech first!

  • @LittleLiviX lol

  • Comment removed

  • Its five stances form, originally a beginner shaolin set to teaches stances, although the name makes no sense to me as there are six stances

  • @Emangroove the last / first is a resting stance

  • @Emangroove

I counted 5 or 7 stances, depending on where the Chinese divide between stances. I suspect it was originally a single flowing motion and where the stances were divided was more arbitrary than current practice.

I'll have to practice this to build up my control and flexibility. It looks very useful for conditioning.

  • @Hikikomori013 its the very first form that any wushu athlete should learn, and they should continue to practice it throughout their lives! It was never meant to be a single flowing motion, if you watch a shaolin monk performing it while training for example, they hold every stance for a couple of seconds. The stances in order are - gong bu (bow stance), ma bu (horse stance), xie bu (cross stance), pu bu (crouched stance) and xu bu (empty stance)

  • Your punches and kicks look very lethal.

  • looks like fun

  • i take kung fu but this is to fast for me!!1

  • I like the BACKGROUND MUSIC and seems so EPIC

  • whats the song btw?

  • Whow this doesn't look like tai chi though is it? It looks more like Long boxing.

  • @Aznhano but then it also seems to have many touches that seem similar to Shaolins Wu bu chuan.

  • i always stop at 00:10 and dont know wat 2 do next :(

  • When he goes down with his feet close together he looks like you could push him over. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep your feet apart for balance?

I don't know anything about wushu so I could be missing something. Just asking.

  • made a tutorial with slomotion

  • Even my Shaolin Sifu (teacher), which is not a master, does that much better, not talking about my friends and I who learn only one year.

  • GongFu is also a term for the martial arts of China, yet it is NEVER a bastardized name; on the contrary it has a deeper connotation for the art; it means hard work, time and energy ! Martial Arts is a term which means the art of fighting. Wu bu Quan is 5 step fist.

  • Wu Bu Quan is a modern wushu basic training form. And is not compulsory at the shaolin temple but it is at some of the related school aroud the area....Sorry to bust your bubble but Xiao Hong Quan and its variants are the basic and traditional compulsory form at shaolin temple while wu bu quan is a modern form created for beginners and is only 40 years old lol!

  • No! It's a traditional form to!

  • Its because this is a tutorial for beginners, thats why hes acting so slow.

  • lol the way he did it like taichi to me

  • The name of the music please :(( i want it, what is is called :((((?

  • Seven Swords Victory, theme from the movie "seven swords"

  • i can't seem to find the song... i'm totally in love wif the song!!!!

  • the music is so epic from 0:37 and on

  • i've learn this at my wushu class

  • Yea! I learnd it to...;)

  • the bert form of wu bu chuan that I did see

  • there's no ma bu stance at the beginning? o_0

  • you're wu bu is very high it should be more lower

  • this is the form I have learned in the shaolin workout video. is this wushu or shaolin martial arts?

  • This is Contemporary Wushu.

  • Apparently the above form Wu Bu Quan is compulsory in all Shaolin Temples and related school. They use the terminilogy like Wushu, Shaoilin Wushu, Gong Fu, Chan Quan but they all mean Kung Fu! The Wubu Quan is the Five steps of Shaolin Boxing, the very basics.

  • Wushu.Gong fu,chang quan "long fist" DO NOT MEAN KUNG FU...WuShu= WU-martial, Shu-Art or skill. Chang quan is a modern northern style and a term for all northern styles,Gong Fu means Hard Work or effort a skill aquired through time which could mean anything from cooking to playing basket ball, Gong fu or kung fu is a slang term used in "Amercian" culture, is an incorrect and bastardized term taking out of context. As a chinese martial artist 34thshaolinstudent you should have known that by now.

  • well said.

  • And Chang Quan can refer to many different things based on context...

  • I believe it was Ark Y. Wong who first used kung fu as a synonymous term for wushu. I try to avoid using the term kung fu and call it CMA. Wushu is as much a bastardizing term to me as kung fu is to you (damn those gymnasts with their tinfoil swords and silky flamoyant pajamas that vaguely resemble Mandarin style clothes), so I avoid that term as well.

  • It is a standardised chang quan form, and was composed quite recently. It's not a shaolin form (ie, i didnt originate at the temple), but it's a good foundation.

  • dramatic music completely unneccessary

  • and lame

  • nice!

  • good!

but xu bu was very high

    thanx 4 posting

  • Thanks man. This is an excellent effort. I loved it, along with the music that matches its energy, flow, and moves. As for speed, actually for a beginner it is still fast! I wish there is some way to watch such videos in slow motion: Can anyone help me about slow motion .... from a normal video here!

  • it has some major mistakes in it ! especially the last stance is too flowery and also the pubu transition to kungbu is not as it should be ! sorry

  • actually i think that is pretty good, especially the transition from Pu Bu o Xu Bu (not Kung Bu)

  • hahahahaha that is a good one ! you are master of "ironics" are'nt you ? :-) g

  • !!!

  • not all forms have to look exactly alike sometimes it does but its best to take the form in as your own and do it your own way so it can be more confortable then you take it to the next level :)

  • What's the name of the music? PLEASE :D

  • sounds like pirates of the carribean hehe :)

  • his gong bu is too high...

  • thanks men,.. you did good job...great moves and techniques although it was slow but the energy inside was powerful...

  • a lot of persons are complaining that it goes to slow. But you have to understand that this is just for the routine. So other people can follow the steps. You nevver now on wich speed you have to do it in a fight. It could be possible that you heve to do it slower, our faster, you nevver now.And offcourse its just a form so in a real fight you can only use separated steps. A routine is just to learn it and getting the feeling of doing different things after eachother, and ofcourse for presentation

  • the problem is not the speed. it's not good changquan "flavor." it almost has a tai chi feel to it, and a couple of the techniques are awkward or strangely executed (like the xubu tiaozhang at 0:16, this is no good). don't watch this video to learn wubuquan. look for the zhao changjun wubuquan for a good demo.

  • ok, you guys saw it slow. now speed it up, and keep the smoothness of the movement, and it will look great.

  • ....omg this is the "slow" ver of it?!??!?

  • ahaha love the dramatic music from seven swords!

  • there is breathing and coordination in his tecniques. even though they seem slow they are quite powerful. very good i think

  • easy moves yet powerful!

  • Coool im gonna try it

  • eso en Shaolin Nortenio es " 5 Pasos " justamente hoy termine de hacerlo xD

  • not really like it should be, i'll post an example how it should look and my own version 2 ;-) coming soon :-) greetz g

  • Hi G looking for your version where can I find it?

    Gr J

  • This is 5 stance fist(Wu Bu Quan)however like many other versions of the form on Youtube- The first movement of "young person salutes the Buddha" is left off -to remove religious overtones.(left hand palm left leg crane)the second move -"dragon sits in meditation" (hands stay the same legs drop to pubu stance)is missing as well.

  • What's the name of the music? Sounds cool.... :P

  • wubuquan

  • this is called "five steps", but on this vid it looks like tai chi not wushu :)

  • niice. i need to practice more!

  • A very easy routine... let me try learn it =]
