Actually, Lowell is the only one NOT given credit for writing this tune. It was always my understanding that the bands insistence about playing this tune was one of the reasons Lowell left LF. They were heading in different directions. Lowell would leave the stage when they played this.
fauxfeat.....from what i understand..BESIDES his horrible drug habit, he wasnt into this song cause it was too jazzy... i dont think he left them, they were at a crossroads and lowell wanted to do his own thing for a bit and then died the same year.
@fauxfeat I could never understand how Little Feat used to get slated for this kind of thing. They were monster players itching to 'stretch out' a little. Lowell couldn't handle it and the press/critics sided with him, as if playing more than three chords were too much for some people.
An inate sense of time and space as it relates to notes played, be it Bill's Keys, Fred's Horns, or Paul's riffing, its ALL spectacular. Underneath all those lush, thick, lovely, deep melodic layers is a concrete foundation named Richie Hayward stayin BUSY! Magnificent.Lowell knew the sum of these parts was greater than the whole.

I was so touched by Fred's kindness at the Recher Theater in Baltimore, that I wrote a tune called "Stellar Fella". I'd like to pass it along to you.Chris
It's Chris from Baltimore, I hope you and Fred are well. I hope to see some of the video from The Rechre. Fred & Denny outdid all of my brothers little college buddies. He had the best time, as did I, as did My Pops.
