  • I grew up in the Philippines watching this show... now I've forgotten the language and it all sounds gibberish to me LOL but honest I prefer calling it Kamehame WAVE!!! Sounds more powerful

  • Let's all stand here and watch!

  • How is it a wave? It's clearly a beam!

  • At 0:42 Vegeta's saying "he killed Mario"

  • Kamehame Wave kdjashkdjhlaskhj WAAAAVE!

  • In the related videos: a heartfelt Korean drama film about the children of two lovers whose relationship didn't work out. They eventually play out the love that their parents could not have. Also something about Selena Gomez realizing that being a star comes with having haters.

    ...What?

  • *Waves at Cell* Hello!

  • KAMEHAILHITLER WAVE!!!!!!!

  • this the tagalog/filipino dub??

  • Turtle Destruction Wave.

  • Ka-me-ha-say-aaaah

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Hear's Cell yelling from a mile away* What the heck? *Waves randomly at the sky*

  • Kamehame Wave? Just how the fuck do the Japanese get it wrong?

  • @Perfect7en Not sure if serious...

  • @Perfect7en

    It's not the Japanese dub

  • @ImmaVegeta Oh thank god!

  • @Perfect7en Kamehameha means literally Turtle Destruction Wave -.-. How the fuck would the ones that CREATED the show get it wrong? If anyone would gotten it wrong, it would be us.

  • @Gogito4

Actually, no, it doesn't. The kanji for "destruction" is made up of the characters "ha" and "metsu". Your logic requires the kanji for "destruction" to be "hame" and "tsu".

The only kanji, the only thing properly translatable, in the "Kamehameha" is the "Ha", meaning "wave". Said altogether, it's a pun on the Hawaiian king's name, "Kamehameha". Take the kana and kanji it's made up of, and it very literally translates to "Kamehame Wave", the "kamehame" meaning nothing at all.

  • @KonekoneFukkatsu Kamehameha is a DOUBLE pun. It's of couse the pun you mentioned and because: Kame=Turtle Ha=wave. It roughly translates to Turtle Devastation Wave.

  • @Gogito4

Umm, no. No, it doesn't. There's nothing to translate to "devastation" or "destruction" or whatever meaning you want to force into it. If you're going to force a translation, the best you're going to get is "hame", which is wooden panelling.

I already said. "Hametsu" is the combination of "ha" (the same kanji for "wave") and "metsu", the kanji which makes the idea of destruction in words such as "hametsu", "jimetsu" or "zenmetsu".

Yes, "kame" equals turtle, there's the pun-

  • But the Japanese spelling of "Kamehameha" doesn't use the kanji for "kame". You can call it a pun on "turtle", in that incorporates the word "kame" in there, but the spelling doesn't allow for "kame" to get translated.

Furthermore, the whole name is meant to be read as one name, i.e. like the Hawaiian king. Toriyama wanted a cool sounding name, which ended in "Ha", and his wife came out with "Kamehameha". It was a happy coincidence that it also had "Kame", as in "turtle" too.

  • @KonekoneFukkatsu that's interesting and it makes sense that "Kame" is in the word... because Master Roshi developed the attack if I remember correctly.

  • Everyone stares in enthusiasm with their mouths wide open, preparing to receive cells load

  • Lol cell Jus got lazy there

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!

  • @BlueKnight851 NO! GIANT WAVE!

  • That's a Chuck Norris Kamehameha

  • @ImmaSpongeBob1 Oh gee, how original.
