@lovelydiva06 I dust them. Go through each section and clip off split ends and trim 1/4" off for maintenance. I'm not concerned about blunt ends at this point. When I get to my desired length, I will trim 2" off for a more blunt cut.
Hello, I wasn't completely natural. I still had some relaxed ends (I think). I like the ORS relaxer but I keep hearing good things about the Mizani Butter Blends relaxer so I may try that. I have to say though, go with Lye because it has made a huge difference in the moisture in my hair.
keep your ends trimmed with a relaxer otherwise it'll start to break off and the next thing you know all your hair has fallen out, i always keep my ends trimmed when i relax my hair and it grows really well
i love your hair!!! but thats sooo wierd we both have that same texture...hair color...and that stupid little peice of hair that didnt relax all the way! thats sooo funny!
:) That little area gets on my dangone nerves!! I just relaxed again and, yep, it happened again. I'm thinking I need a stronger relaxer for that section or leave it on a little longer for that section.
yes...i go to a salon but she change the type of relaxer i got and that spot straitened out so maybe u should try something else for it...i wish i knew what the relaxer she uses was then i would tell you because it it amazing for real.
I'm wondering if it's something that you had in your hair that was blocking it? Did you use a chelator a few days before you relaxed, did you use a lot of oils in your hair?
Awesome. Which relaxer do you use? I like bone straight because it's easier to comb. But my new growth is soooooo much different so it's probably best that I don't relax bone straight.
i use ors organic root stimulator. i love it because it doesnt damage your hair and it has olive oil(really good for hair) it makes my hair healthy and shiny and that shampoo and conditoner smells so good. and main reason i use it because their whole line is for breakage and achieving heatlhier hair. one question do you clip your ends before a relaxer or after and is it good to clip them before a sew- in
any page where i can see before and after result? i'm a boy and i didn't cut my hair since early 2006 and i wanna see a result when i'm relaxing and straighting them
The key is retention. Everyone's hair grows but, for some people, they have breakage before they see the growth so it seems like their hair isn't growing. So basically, I just wash and condition a lot and don't wear my out. I will do a video on my routine soon.
I am very young. Im 13,and im african american but id like to know what a perm and a relaxer REALLY are. my mom said it cause great damage but your hair looks perfectly fine right now my hair is thinning and bunch of split ends but i hate having it naturally nappy once i get it healthy id like a relaxer or a perm? but i dont want my hair to fall out you seem to know what your doind can you help me?
A perm is a chemical process that people get to gain body and the size of the curl depends upon the type of rod is used.A relaxer is a chemical process which people get to straighten their curly hair.
Relaxers can be extremely damaging if they are applied wrong as well as if you do not take care of your hair afterwards.
Honestly sweetie, I would like to help you but because of your age,I think it's best that you listen to your Mother. I hope you don't take offense to this. :)
Great advice because lye relaxers are actully natural but just very corrosive. If breathed in as powder at a high PH level it can corrode the air ways and damage the lungs. Lye is used in bath soaps and dranos to unclog pipes. But the PH level is what makes the difference. I would guess lye relaxers PH would be between a bar of soap and a drano.
don't perm your hair if it's damaged. that's not good for it at all. once you and your mom think your ready for one, try a texturizer. this will make your hair staighter but will leave some curl in your hair. that it less damaging and you can detangle it easier.
Or you can grow out the damaged hair. Because really once you choose a texturizer you will have to stick with it brand and type same with a relaxer. Switching back and for can be damaging.
Switched brands and types all my life and I have never had a problem with Growth, NEVER! And by growth I mean waist length, bra strap length and I get scissor happy with my own hair!
I guess it is your hair so do what you like just keep it healthy. I do hope in the future you think about going natural because perms has alot of harsh chemicals but good luck.

Im sorry you said your natural hair is fagile then why in the hell would you go get a perm. Your hair is its strongest when it is natural. Now you will have tons of spilt ends.
Actually, it splits from the constant tangling. I tried many things to combat the tangling and and nothing worked. Also, I did not retain a lot of length. To each his own though right? :)
I just tried Porosity Control again and it really messed up my hair. I need to learn to stick with what works. I'm not going to even attempt to try Cowboy Magic.
I tried it twice. The first time, it tangled the heck out of my hair. The second time, I used the ORS because I like your resuts. My hair is similar. Then I used the PC..but I combed my hair first. I think it's unpredictable and I've heard others getting tangled hair too. I'll use up all of it but make sure to comb first. I don't really like it either.
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Do you trim your own hair? You shouldn't trust anyone to trim it, because they might get scissor happy. Aphogee products are good for your hair. I love the protein reconstructor.
I don't really trim because I'm still in the growing phase. I only do a search and destroy which is finding the indiviual splits and cutting them off about 1/2" above them. It has worked out very well for me. It takes a while but it's worth it.
I have already been through it with the scissor-happy stylists girl. I do everything on my own.
I used to use Aphogee but I feel that Kerastase products work better for me. Thank you for the suggestion though.
I followed a braid regimen (no extensions added). I also bunned everything up. Because my hair is fine, the braids helped keep it strong and less susceptible to breakage. Also, I wash and conditioned almost every day while I was growing it out. I have my regimen in a fotki account. If you would like to see it, I can send you the account and password. I also explained what I do in one of the Redken Real Control Videos that I did.
Yes, out of laziness, I ended up being natural in the crown section. However, I relax in sections because it's hard for me to relax all of it at once without going way over time.
Its great! But I am disappointed I wish I could see how you put on the relaxer and smooth it. PLease next time you relax do a video, please. I have tried to relax my hair but i always mess up, and it doesnt come out smooth... Anyway, love your hair!! thanks for the videos

I do a search and destroy to get rid of split ends. Then I do a dusting every couple of months to just clip off like 1/4" from the ends.
