He held the wireless directly in front of his mouth which distorted the sound. When you watch ppl on tv do the same thing you get the same result. It is designed to be worn below the mouth (on the shirt, jacket etc) not directly in line with the audio source.

I bought a Zoom H2 and connect it to the Zi8 for my music recordings. It sounds great

I just purchased the Zi8 and returned it.

The video from it is not very sharp and has a kind of million little mosquitoes look, if you know what I mean.

my videos are all done with the zi8 at 1080p..you can check them out..it does not do very well in the dark, but then again that should be fixed with the 1.06 firmware update

mic didnt work at all! : ( but the mic came in a nice case the zi8 fits into nice! lmao one good thing oh and it came with a cord extention. im oing to take it apart and see if i can get it going. for $13 i cant be bothered to send it back. (I do believe they know that too!) ill let you know if i get it working. zi8 works great with the 1.06 firmare.

the built in mic is good i don't see any reason to buy a other one.

You can use a Zoom H2 sound recorder you can connect to the camcorder or use it by itself and sync it to the video makes for a great sounding video on a budget!!

Is the audio at the beginning of this video using zi8's internal mic? Some folks have suggested that the built in mic in zi8 has a loud high pitch whine, but I didn't hear any in this video. Please confirm whether you were using the built in mic at the beginning of this video.
