The guy at the end of the video, was he praising Allah? Couldn't hear that well. Is this an Islamic martial art, or are many of it's students followers of Malcom-X and the Nation of Islam?
And so what if there were only Afro-Americans? I love martial arts and what I see on this vid is people who also love martial arts and are very good at it!
I had no intention on my remark as being racist by no means--I loved the video I was just wondering why there were no whites there-that is all and just because I was wondering does not lable me as a racist--Sensei Mills.
@carlmills100 - I was there and there were Whites - both as Masters demonstrating and spectators. I am Native Caribbean - from the Arawak Nation, so I have no inclination to either. I am a Hebrew Israelite. There was no form or sense of racism at all. The only racism that seems to be present is yours - trying to find fault in a gathering where the majority of the participants were people are of Color. Those present on the video were those chosen to demonstrate due to their association with GM.
This is truly beautiful and a great tribute to Professor Moses Powell such a graceful and deadly art and this also shows the love of allah in action the merciful sustainer of all.Peace
From what I saw at the seminar there we're black, white, asian, and hispanic students, teachers and friends who loved and respected Dr. Moses Powell. As well there we're people from different faiths Muslims, Christians, Hebrew Isralites and others. So I don't think he was a racist based on what I saw at the event.
Oss! The Legendary Dr. Moses Powell was "The Teachers of Teachers!" He developed Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu for all people of all nations. We have Sanuces Instructors who are of Caucasian ethnic background like Grandmaster Gino, Prof. Tom Curry, Shihans Khris and Eric Allen...just to name a few of many that are available.
@njdevils5790 - The Legendary Dr. Moses Powell was "The Teacher of Teachers!" and that was regardless of what nationality a person was. Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu was not tailored to just one race of people. It is a complete system of Self-Defense for all nations of people. We have instructors like Grandmaster Gino, Prof. Tom Curry, Shihans Eric and Khris Allen...just to name a few of the many Caucasian Sanuces Ryu Instructors.
To answer your question xxxsssxxxsss, "EYE-TO-EYE" means Face To Face, Up Close and Personal Baby! Not backing up and running, or being a Coward!!! Oss!
@warriorwithindojo No punk ass you say? Is that what your school teaches; "Don't be a punk ass". If this is the so-called raw meaning of the art you practice it doesn't sound like an art to me; more like gangster wannabe seminar. Im sure this isn't the case though.
If the opponent in all black would "think" fighting, he could make the one in white change his technique by striking his elbow with his left hand..instead he chooses to do karate!
Ouss.....eye to eye......thank you for posting this tribute to the greatest martial artist this country has ever seen. As a child of Sanuces from the early seventies I am truly greatful, Little Frank
dude in black is leaving his arm out there, for the taking. Plus I wouldn't use both of my arms to check just one of my opponents arms. Simultaneous block and strikes?
With all due respect u have no idea what happens to the body when its bein attacked and what happens when the victim has th upperhand. If you dont know what Sanuces is all about then u cant commit cuz we have the best self defense in the world
The spoken word is off the chain!!! Props to the writer--the film is very good. I first saw Dr. Powell on "The warrior within" over twenty years ago. Glad to see that his legacy lives on.
Yo I have to respect sancues family! I do jiu jitsu in the UK and its totally different ! There's no togetherness from the black people but in America black people are doing there thing so keep up the good work!!!

moham8803 1 year ago
@moham8803 because then someone would get seriously hurt or die so only exhibitions are done.
some martial artist train to fight and some train to kill.

Interesting. I have known about Mr. Powell for many years. I remember hearing of him when I was young, back in the 80's.
Is there a question of him being racist or not? I have no opinion one way or the other, I am just curious.
