  • Save your money, trail np or rws of some sort

  • I have the titan gp .177 and im not very happy with it. Its shoots all over the place.

  • @ebarnes419

That is par for the course with these guns.. some are great.. some are note. Call crosman and have them send you a new gun. The more we require them to stand behind the product, the sooner they'll improve their quality control and the initial quality of their products.

    Rick

  • what gun is better nitro venom or the gp

  • @ThePelletgunman

same gun.. save your money and get the Trail NP which is better than both of them.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • dude use a bigger box and add some old clothes

  • Love the video reviews, keep it up! What do you feel is the best air rifle under $200?

  • @ConanTheToolMan

Right now.. the Hatsan line has some great guns for under $200 and they have great build quality, power, and accuracy.

    Rick

  • 399

  • are nitro pistons more accurate than springers overall?

  • @pelletgunhero

not necessarily.. some are better than others.. same as spring guns.

    Rick

  • would you recommend this gun for small game like rabbits?

  • @pelletgunhero

Up close sure.. 10 to 15 yards.. in .22 cal

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb thats alittle to close, do you think it would kill it at atleast 30 yards?

  • @pelletgunhero

It will quite literally be hit or miss.. the accuracy at that range is not going to be there.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb nitro piston guns dont have a break-in period do they?

  • @thebowlzack

yes.. it may be a bit shorter.. but yes.

    Rick

  • Chrony tests

  • this or nitro venom?

  • @travis199urkul

This over the venom.. better yet.. go for the Trail NP in .22

    Rick

  • Rick i dont kno about wat kinda gun that u have but... I bought this gun at Walmart for $160.00 It is not any Kids gun My gun takes about 31 pounds 2 cock and mine puts out 750 fps with the Crosman Prem. I own over 20 Pellet guns and only 2 come close to this one I recommend this 2 anyone who wants a hard hitting powerful gun Remember it is in 22. Cal so it will be a bigger hard hitting more energy to the target i rate this gun at a 9/10 Because, i would like 4 this gun 2 be less hev.
  • @varmithunter97

Are you getting the FPS of 750 from the box or from your chrony tests?

    Rick

  • Im thinking about going for a nitro but since im not gonna but a +300,- rifle... Should i stick with a normal springer or make that step and go for the nitro? Are there things we should know about nitro rifles?

  • @noodle050

The Nitro Piston guns are generally pretty good. They help with recoil and vibration.

    Rick

  • what is a shrouded barrel?

  • @thebowlzack

It is a barrel that has a covering to it. generally there is an air space and channels that help reduce the sound of the shots.

    Rick

  • Does the scope have mil dots?

  • @bigandjfeederz

I don't remember exactly.. but I believe the 4x32 scopes come both ways.

    Rick

  • About how many shots does it take to break it in?

  • @beastlyepicness

Each gun will be a little different.. but give yourself 300 to 500 shots to break in the gun.

    Rick

  • hey rick i have bin watching alot of ur videos and have a question . i want a cleaning kit for my gamo varmit hunter hp .177 and one for a remington .22. i am kinda new to them but i know they need to be cleaned oiled ext. i want to buy from piramid air.com can u recomend a kit for bothe or one kit that will work for both . and please explain how to use them . i have bin told not to put oil in the chamber ? also i just put some grease on the piviot points were they break . pleas help thanks,Cody

  • @kruppcody1

Take a look at one of the recent Take AIM episodes. RWS makes a .177 and .22 cleaning kit. They work well on all your break barrel guns and the video shows you how to use them.

    Cheers!

    Rick

  • i was wondering if u will be doing a review on the beeman dual caliber air rifle and if there good for squirel hunting

  • @bradhoskins13

The Dual Cal Beeman is a pain of a gun.. I finally have one that shoots well, but not with both calibers... They are a neat idea but not practical. There are lots of good guns for squirrel hunting. The Benjamin Trail NP is a good example.

    Rick

  • Rick where I live there are lots of birds, squirrel, rabbits, and fox I was looking for a cheap, accurate, powerful, fast .22 cal gun what would you recommend.

  • @SWOutdoorAddiction

well.. cheap, powerful, and fast are easy.. but when you throw in accurate.. that causes some problems. If you want to hunt game you need to keep your shots in a 1" kill zone. That means you need a gun that will hold 1" groups. The Benjamin Trail in .22 is the right choice at $230. If that is too much.. then you'll need to reduce your range inside 15 yards and go with the Crosman Optimus.

    Cheers!

    Rick

  • Rick

do you think this gun and the venom share the same internals ( like the twin rugers...excluding the ruger air magnum)

    i chronied my trail Np with 14.3 Miesterkuglens @750fps..... ( i have 3 trails)

    and 2 titans.....177/ 22.

i like the titan and though i don't chrony evey gun i use Miesterkuglens for most and the Titan

penatration seem very stout......with better optics and employing a fast squeeze technique

    its( Titans) are tach drivers.

i have alot of duplicate guns

  • @Triplethreat600

I don't know for sure, but I believe it is the titan with a different stock.. that's my guess anyway, but again, I don't know for sure.

    Rick

  • what gun blew thhrough that bboard

  • @tykee19

It was a number of guns.. It took about 1 or 2 good shooting sessions to make it through the board.

    Rick

  • I saw this at walmart...let me stop there, walmart can't be trusted...at least the one in my town...i'll go to a gunshop >_> wlamart's fans are missing screws, and the brakes on their bikes are never working...

  • is good? the gun?

  • @DELTAROCK00

It is a decent gun for the money.

    Rick

  • Is this gun good for Squirrels/birds.

  • @ZeetleBeetle

it can be with the right shot placement.

    Rick

    aprocima up .................

  • @ademilton9

You can contact PyramydAir directly via their site. They do ship internationally.

    Rick

  • what is extreme spread and standard deviation?

  • @thebowlzack

extreme spread is the amount of FPS between the highest and lowest velocity. You want minimal spread. The standard deviation is the average difference in velocity that you can expect between shots. You want this to be a low number as well.

    Rick

  • Hey Rick are you sure i can't mount a 40mm scope with those rings?

  • @emanuelf11

I'd replace the rings.. the rings that come with the stock scope are very light duty rings.

    Rick

  • You know Rick.... you're SPOT ON with this review! I get 660 ft/sec with 14.6 grain Crosman Premiers off my chronograph with this rifle. The accuracy is darned good as I can hit a 1.5" steel disc at 35 yards pretty much at will offhand. The funny thing though is that I was tempted to bring the rifle back to Walmart at first because I had a hard time hitting anything. Trigger is horrible! I got used to it now, but have ordered a Charlie Da Tuna GRT III trigger... This gun is great value!

  • @JaleelJohanson62

With a little work it can be a very accurate gun for sure.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb I received my Charlie Da Tuna GRT-III trigger yesterday and installed it. Night and day difference! Trigger pull is a tad below 2lbs and is predictable and CRISP! The GRT-III trigger only costed me $32.00 so the whole package is still under $200.00. The value, however, was increased far greater with this modification! I hope Crosman is paying attention here. This would be a change they could make that wouldn't increase cost other than some re-tooling of the trigger itself.

  • @JaleelJohanson62

yep.. it would not take much for them to dramatically improve their guns.

    Rick

  • @heavymetal217

It will be posted very, very soon..

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb Hope so!

  • @heavymetal217

I'm going through the hard wood venom now.. not a great gun.. Video out in a couple of days.

    Rick

  • if this is a short light rifle, i dont want to see heavy long rifle.

  • @mfgunit

this is a more compact version of the Trail NP.

    Rick

  • do u mean benjamin trail?

  • crosman titan or ruger air hawk?

  • @dandotreillydot42058

very different guns.. each has a very different purpose.. titan for hunting and the ruger for more general shooting.. If I wanted to hunt, I'd get the titan, if I wanted something to shoot leisurely with, I'd get the ruger.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • Love this channel. Could you recemend a good -$220 .177cal pellet rifle for arget and hunting. Thinking about the Nitro Venom by Crosman beause of it Nitro Piston Technology but i kno you have shot alot of guns and im dure you would have the best recommendation.

  • @JackedUp8716

.22 is much better for hunting.. the Trail NP, Venom, or the Stoeger X20 are all decent options.. .22 for hunting, .177 for plinking. the .22 will usually give you better accuracy down range because of the heavier pellet.

    Rick

  • Did you try the trigger adjustment? There is an adjustment screw if you read the directions.

  • @fastacker2

the adjustment adjusts for the length of the 2nd stage.. all the way in shortens the length.. all the way out, makes the 2nd stage even longer. It does nothing for the pull weight of the trigger. The adjustment is so small that it really does not make much of a difference.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb Thanks, I just bought the gun last week, but haven't shot it yet. I bought it because it said it was supposed to be way queiter than my silent cat .177 springer. But it seems the reviews call this into question. Guess I will find out when I get around to using it. I mounted a Bushnell scope on it that might be overkill, but it seemed lots of people recommended upgrading the scope.

  • @fastacker2

Crosman plays word games.. "less noise" is not "quieter" but they compare their "less noise" to the competitors "quite" rifle. It is misleading.. maybe not intentionally, but it is still misleading. The gun registers "louder" than say the Stoeger X20s, but the X20s will produce "more noise" because of the vibration noises (secondary noises) produced by the spring. For what it is.. the Titan "sounds" very quiet..

    Rick

  • which would you recommend for overall value-the titan, or the benjamin 392?

  • @astrofishy35

They are very different but generally the Titan may be a bit more powerful and accurate

    Rick

  • @astrofishy35 titan 200%

  • Also, i recommend cleaning and lubrication after each use to further enhance the life and performance

  • @ThaJuggla817

Thanks for the information. I'm working with a Venom now.. it is a step up from the Titan..

    Rick

  • 50-70 yrds has been the best range i have been able to test for the the time being with groups on average the size of a silver/gold dollar, depending on weather conditions. As far as the excess dB of the noise, I have found my personal ways to damper them so to get my enjoyment, if interested i will share through mail w/ you only Rick. Nothing illegal. My personal overall rating is 3.75 out of 5 and subject to change as soon as i can confirm a maximum range. I hope we can sompare notes soon. =D

  • I agree to a point with your review. I have owned this pellet rifle for a little over a year now and when i bought it off the shelf, i immediately replaced the scope with a center point 3-9x32 hunting scope w/ illuminated cross hairs on the same purchase. I personally am satisfied with my investments into the platform. My one drawback is that being in city limits it is hard to test the maximum range.

  • I have shot crosman guns since I was little, 33 now, and I was excited about the nitro piston models when they came out but after having the venom, trail np in both .177 and .22 I wondered if they were accurate at all. I couldn't hold a group even after 500 rounds on any of them at even 30 feet. Crosman told me they had a major run of bad barrels after exchanging them a couple times. I was hesitant of the titan because of this but bought it anyway, now squirrels are dead meat at 35 yards. Dunno.

  • @avoider3000

I'm glad that you finally got a good one.. It would be nice for Crosman to share that kind of information with me once in a while.. I get very little in the way of information from Crosman these days.

    Rick

  • This guy is the most honest reviewer that I've ever seen. I think he should be the only reviewer of air rifles. He needs to make a video about shooting positions for the spring (harder to handle) air rifles.

  • @SuperJH007

Thank you for your kind words.. Maybe the shooting positions videos would be good for a Take AIM video.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb What gun/scope combination would you recommend for hunting small game under $400?

  • @QuesoJim

Walther Hunter with Gas Ram.. or if you can spend a bit more.. the RWS 350 Magnum

    Rick

  • sorry but can you do a review of the Crosman M417 Multi-Pump Air Rifle, Adj. Stock by Crosman

  • @chickenfarmer296

I hope to.. It looks like a very neat gun.

    Rick

  • i have a remington vantage 1200, and im looking for another pellet gun. im not sure if its because its too loud or i want something different, but the rifles i have in mind are the gamo rocket, crosman titan, hammereli x2, and the gamo hunter sport. i would like your opinion on these. thank you. keep in mind i will be using it for small game hunting such as rabbits and squirrels

  • @03zechariah

Consider a Trail NP in .22 cal. It has all the values that are looking for. When you order it, get it from PyramydAir and make sure to get the 10 for $10. Every now and then you get one that is not up to par.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb i cant seem to find it on your site. do you think you could give me a link? about how much is it by the way?

  • @03zechariah

You can go to PyramydAir's web site and search for Trail NP. That will pull it up for you. If not, email me directly via my website listed on my profile.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • Does pyramid air accept debt cards because I don't own a credit card

  • @TheHunter670

I'm not sure.. you can certainly setup a paypal account and process the order that way. They also take money orders.

    Rick

  • How much of a break-in period do you put your guns through before your tests? I feel like my Titan GP has improved with use (450 pellets so far). I am certain that it's much quieter now than it was with the first 100 or so shots. I don't have a crony so I can't say what the velocity is doing now, but this gun is damned powerful. But I agree with your assessment of the trigger. It absolutely sucks and I'm looking for a replacement.

  • @gomertube

Every gun's break in period is a bit different.. I shoot them until I'm satisfied that they are shooting as well as they are going to shoot. I rushed this video a bit.. something that I really try not to do anymore.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb I am thinking of returning my phantom for this rifle. Do you think its worth it,?

like does this shoot better and will it last longer.

  • @harriet807

It is a good option for an upgrade. You'll want a better scope.

    Rick

  • I know with a spring powered air rifle your scope have to be air gun rated!!!! But with a nitro piston gun does the scope have to be?

  • @lilcorey310

yes.. same issue with gas ram guns.

    Rick

  • what scope do u recommend for this gun

  • @surferboy3011

Look for the Leapers 3-12x40 ao scope.

    Rick

  • same rifle, have it mounted with a leaper 3x9x32 scope wich i bought before finding this video. definitly decreases the group size. trying to find a good pellet. so far beeman crowmags, predator polymags, and crossman premires. anybody getting any good groups?

  • is this the same as a crosman venom? or do you have a review on that model.

  • @mrsuperterd

Venom review will be coming out soon.. technically it is titan with a facelift.. but I expect it to be a decent gun.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb come on your killing me haha waiting for the venom review. like how you anwser alot of question serious air gunners ask. am courious how the trigger is on the venom and the kind of groups it can proudce at 50 yards.

  • @mrsuperterd

I've got one on the way :) Expect a review sometime in the first half of November.

    Rick

  • Is there a difference between the Crosman Titan and the Benjamin Titan? I did not see an answer to this question.

  • @kbern8040

I would imagine they are the same gun, with a different name... sort of like quest vs storm or the crosman npss to the remington npss

    Rick

  • Why 3 and a half minutes of gibberish?

  • You moved from South Carolina with acres to Arizona with neighbors close by, sounds like a smart decision! lol

  • @tonyinfinity

It has turned out to be.. the municipal range here is amazing and only 6 miles away, vs 40 miles back in SC. but I have family out this way.. that's what really motivated the move.. Anyway, I'm getting more airgun work done here than in SC as I have an indoor range in my house..

    cheers

    Rick

  • Hi, I was wondering if this gun is hold sensative. I am wanting an upgrade from the Remington Vantage and was considering this one. Also, what is the average shot groups at 20-25 yards? Thanks, October3ful

  • @october3ful

    it is about the same.

    Rick

  • This gun seems alot like the benjamin trail np .22 all weather, do they shoot the same??

  • @shootingdrummer7

This has a much smaller frame and does not shoot quite as hard.

    Rick

  • i have this exact rifle, and use crossman premire pellets so far very accurate with them at 25 yards wich is as far as im going to shoot in my backyard (backyard is close to 50yards with a thick treeline i.e. magnolias, pine and oak. so far a crow has gone away from our fig tree

  • I have a utg tactical rail adaptor and utg 1 inch picatinny weaver rings

  • @Teamwolf7777

Did you use the locking pin for the rail adapter?

    Rick

  • @aurgunweb are the crossman Titan and the Benjamin Titan the same gun with different name

  • Is the Benjamin titan the same

  • @F13rce187

There's a Benjamin Titan.. or are you referring to the Benjamin Trail?

    Rick

  • @F13rce187 They changed it from crosman to benjamin

  • Rick I need help I have a Leapers golden image 3-9x32 on my crosman Titan gp it won't hold a zero. Replace it like 2 times my gun keep breaking it . I had two centerpoint scope and they don't hold a zero only like 5 shot :(

  • @Teamwolf7777

    What mounts are you using?

    rick

  • Well i made the titan gp my 22cal air rifle..... i was hoping i could change the power plant for an up grade.... I mainly like the muzzle break... I am checkin on the nitro piston to see it fits my gun... thanks

  • i know what you mean about the traps failing. My dad cut down a tree last year and we just had a around 15 or 20 1 1/2 feet thick tree stumps. and i just lined it up for my range and it never fails

  • Hey Rick... What the difference in power plants in the Titan GP and Trail NP and are they inter changable???? Thanks

  • @TheNismo2006

I'm not sure.. that would be a question that I'd defer to Crosman. There is a difference as I get 730is with 14.66 grn pellets in my Trail.

    Rick

  • im new to air guns and im just wandering how does the trigger affect the gun

  • @MrAirsoftking96

A hard trigger can cause you to pull or push your shot.. an ambiguous trigger (one without a clear break point) can also be a problem, although some may prefer it (I don't).

    Cheers

    Rick

  • can somebody tell me the over all length

  • @ZombieKillerOfCanada

    47" per Pyramyd Air's site

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb thanks man

  • wow wht power was the rifle that got through that back stop

  • @huntish

It is a combination of all the rifles that I had shot recently. Most of the medium and magnum springers will just tear apart normal material after a while.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb

    are they all over 12ft/lb

  • @huntish

    most of them

    Rick

  • u always complain about the trigger... its a bit annoying.. other than that, i like all your reviews. good job!

  • @MrDJKaram

Yep.. I know.. and I'll continue to complain about it. Hopefully it convinces manufactures to improve. I know that the RWS T06 is an exceptional trigger.. and it is even in there $200 ish dollar Model 34. So if RWS can bring over a German gun with a great trigger and make that $200 price point, certainly Crosman and Gamo can do better with there $300 guns.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • Hi rick, I would really appreciate it if u could a review on the benjamin trail np, nitro piston combo, from pyramyd air.

    Thank u.

  • @flyfisher1996

Take a look at my channel.. I have a review of the Benjamin Trail NP there.

    cheers

    Rick

  • Hey Rick, I live in southern utah and I shoot Rabbits with my Beeman RS2. I want to get a benjamin under $300. Any suggestions?

  • @TATEORTOT32

Get the Trail NP.. not the XL.. the NP with H&N Field Target Trophy pellets is the way to go..

    Rick

  • why do all break barrel air guns have barrel droop

  • @NRXTM

not all have it.. some do, some don't. All guns have some level of misalignment of the barrel.. that is why all guns have sights and scopes have adjustments..

    Rick

  • shoot the gun and stop talking about it you panzee

  • @AlcoholiCemenThrower

Really.. that's your comment? If you don't like the "talking" skip to the end for the shooting.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • @AlcoholiCemenThrower rick just pwned you.

  • what about the nitro piston in this gun? does it shoot nicer than a standard spring air rifle? less recoil?

  • @LiveBreatheOutdoors

yes.. and it produces less secondary noises, i.e. there is not that lingering "buzz" or "twang" after each shot.

    Rick

  • Just bought a refurbished one from Airgundepot. Would've bought from PA but they don't carry it anymore.

  • hey i bought one and the day i had it the berral bent and i dont no how what do i do

  • @goldhunterify

I'm guessing it slipped out of your hand while cocking? You can get a new barrel assembly from Crosman, or they may even replace it for you.

    Rick

  • what do u think are some good pellets for hunting with this rifle

  • @lilcorey310

The most accurate pellets are the best pellets. I'm sure that I mention the best pellet I found in the video.

    cheers

    Rick

  • I bought a Titan GP .22 cal. at Wal-Mart a few months ago. It has about 500 Crossman hp pellets thru it now. It shoots dime sized one hole groups at 20 yards. The trigger is real heavy, like 8 to 10 lbs. real bad, I ordered a gtx-III trigger for it, still waiting for the trigger. I can’t even shoot it with the stock trigger it’s so bad. But this is one accurate air rifle, if you can shoot dime sized groups of 5 at 20 yards. With that trigger it’s a keeper in my book.

  • @z28rod

Yep.. great little gun for the money.

    Rick

  • I've had mine for over 6 months. It's a great shooter... I noticed that after about 300 pellets it started to really shoot well. Now this bad boy is a great crow stopper.

  • @wingman115

Great news.. Crosman gave this a face lift and relabeled it the Venom which should also be a good shooter.

    Rick

  • Should i get this gun or the Crossmen Phantom 1000x

  • @mrholeinonekid

It's really a toss up.. The Venom may be a better option.

    Rick

  • Rick, there might be something wrong with your airgun, my friends titan delivered 735 fps avg with the cphp. I would send it back to crosman and get a new one

  • @Mrxxxlefmxxx

This gun is long gone.. I sent it back after the review. I review them as I get them.

    cheers

    Rick

  • u have the gp model not the normal one so you will have reduced velocites

  • @At221l

nope.. same gun.. the NP is sold at Wal-mart.. the GP is more for distributors.. Same as the difference between the Cosman Quest and the Crosman Storm. Same gun, different branding depending on where you bought it.

Now there is a lower velocity Titan GP sold by PyramydAir. But mine clearly stated 950 FPS on the box, same as the NP from wal-mart. (watch the video at 3:56 you clearly see the velocity marked on the box)

    Cheers

    Rick

  • Whats the difference between the titan np and the titan gp?

  • @AwesomeAlex420

    I don't believe there is a difference..

    Rick

  • Ok thanks

  • Ok thanks yeah i would of gone with the trail but i just cant wait that long to save up but also what is the biggest game the 392 can take because theres also tons of Racoons by my house

  • @brute2238

If you stay close.. like 5 to 10 yards maybe.. but I'd recommend something larger for Raccoon.

    Rick

  • Ok so ive been saving up for the trail np but i just realy dont want to spend that much so would you reccomend this or the benjamin 392 for squirrels

  • @brute2238

The 392 is a great squirrel gun up close.. but it can't match the power of a decent spring gun.

    Rick

  • what would you recommend the .22 or the .177 version for hunting and target shooting
