Why don't more people like you exist? I don't have any debt or credit owing because of what my mother taught me about living within my frugal means. For trips and outings with my friends, I save ten bucks a month until I feel I deserve to treat myself.
You speak about self control and place the moral responsibility on the individual, but what about the responsibility of financial institutions? Why do you blame the individual for his lack of self control when banks and credit card companies showed equal lack of self control when they gave into their greed and lent to people who otherwise would not qualify for loans?
This otherwise informative video is ruined by the speaker eating as he makes his presentation. It's distracting and judging the standards of etiquette of an earlier age, ill-mannered.
This is a very good video, Mike. I'm 24 and don't have a high paying job, but I save my money. I pack my own lunch to work everyday, I don't drink or smoke or go clubbing every weekend, and I don't have any loans or debts to my name.
Unfortunately, my friends are the opposite. They eat out all the time, get drunk every weekend, have $30,000 loans on cars, then they complain that they never have any money. It's sad that they can't live within their means.
Hi Mike. To me leaving within your means involves a strong component of wanting less and tuning out advertising. Thanks for another interesting video. :) Erika in San Francisco
I'm not that old cause I remember layaway and even used it! LOL Heck nowadays ya better live below your means, well below to have something to save with many of the jobs going bye bye without a whole lot of notice. I hear you on your term frugilar. Is that spelled right? LOL Great video looking forward to part 2.
I miss layaway.

Not pulling any punches in this video, Mike! Well said.
It's a sad fact that so many people not only live WAY above their means - they also hold everyone but themselves accountable.
