@stcrzyaatyrs Dogs are great I love my labrador with all my heart and she is with me till the end i was crying in the vet's office a couple months ago when i found out she has a tumar. She has been the best dog she is family to me and it will be the worst day ever when she dies and i pray that is no time soon.

My Border Collie was 5 and I just had to put him down. I'm sure that Skidboot's people thought he was the best dog in the world but I don't care. I had the best dog in the world. I'd give anything to have him back--he was my friend. As Mickey Rourke said, "Sometimes a man only has his dog". I did. And I'm thankful for that. So, if you have a Skidboot or a Bullitt (my dog) then make sure you give him a hug tonight. When you lose them you lose a part of yourself. Why is it so hard?

Australian Cattle Dogs are very special. I have a mix named Isis who lives with my parents, now. I got her for free from the back of a farmer's pickup at a flea market somewhere near Killeen, TX, back in 1997. She's a smart one like Skidboot was, though I never taught her very many tricks. She is 11 years old and now an insulin dependant diabetic and like Skidboot did, slowly going blind.
Aww bless! Skidboot is so amazing! I want to say a very well done to David for taking his dog further into love and care! I'm sure that Skidboot really appreciated being noticed, and also from being trained by such a talented man! My dog is a Springer Spaniel. His best tricks are the treat on nose trick and beg. It's Aug 10, 2008, and I'm just now seeing that Skidboot died in 2007. Waaaahhhhh!!!! What a fabulous dog!! I saw him on Pet Star and Oprah! One of a kind!!!!!!! He will be sorely missed. ;(
Now I'm so sad! I'm at work and I'm trying to fight back the tears! Animals are so special! I mourn for them more than people because they are innocence lost.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of this beautiful, beautiful animal. I am heartbroken also. How unfair that these beautiful creatures live such short lives. They give us so much love and companionship. We just recently lost one of our canines in our Police Department and I am still recovering from that loss. this dog was lovely. i don't know why but every time i saw him perform he almost brought tears to my eyes... just because of the joy he brings to people and what a tight bond he and his owner had! he was great. his spirit will live on forever!
Skidboot was not only the real and original "Greatest American Dog" but he was in a class by himself and it would not have been fair to let him compete on the tv show.
He isn't gone. The soul this dog had comes from energy sent to a loved one from a love one who as passed. The dog will be reborn again and one day probably very soon now David will find a puppy that he "just knows is Skidboot come back" I've raised ACDs for over 35 yrs and my nearest and closet dogs have returned to me multiple times throughout those years. They even appear in dreams to tell me know to find them and when to go out and look for them. Believe it or not.
It was strange to read your post! I lost my baby almost 3 years ago. I recently happned across a puppy online, and just felt I had to get him. I've thought many times that he was my my baby reincarnated. And I even had a dream a few months before I found my new little guy...a dream that told me my baby would come back to me. Oh...I'm so sorry that he's gone. He was really amazing. I've lost some very special pets and I know what it's like...sadly they all have to go sometime but they are never forgotten, always precious to us and in our hearts forever. 13 years ago I brought home a cute, fiesty, little 9 week old Blue Heeler puppy...and since I have no children, he literally became my life for the next 9 years. 4 years ago he came down with "anemia" and I had no choice but to "Put him down". As the vet was pushing the "plunger" in, I held him in my arms and whispered in his ear, "I love you. I love you". I didn't know that 50 year old men could bawl/cry like new born babies. Now, I know.
Dave you gave this dog a chance, and he showed his stuff! I could see love love in both of your eyes, and in your tone of voice. Take care, and thank you Skidboot for making many happy for you were happy yourself, silly guy!
I know when David passes away, he will visit the Rainbow Bridge and Skidboot will be there. If you haven't heard about the Rainbow Bridge, please look it up online. It's an amazing poem and place where our beloved pets go. Rest in peace Skidboot, you were loved.

It's Aug 10, 2008, and I'm just now seeing that Skidboot died in 2007. Waaaahhhhh!!!! What a fabulous dog!! I saw him on Pet Star and Oprah! One of a kind!!!!!!! He will be sorely missed. ;(

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of this beautiful, beautiful animal. I am heartbroken also. How unfair that these beautiful creatures live such short lives. They give us so much love and companionship. We just recently lost one of our canines in our Police Department and I am still recovering from that loss. God bless these dogs and I thank God also for the privilege of allowing them to grace our lives.

this dog was lovely. i don't know why but every time i saw him perform he almost brought tears to my eyes... just because of the joy he brings to people and what a tight bond he and his owner had! he was great. his spirit will live on forever!

Skidboot was not only the real and original "Greatest American Dog" but he was in a class by himself and it would not have been fair to let him compete on the tv show.

He isn't gone. The soul this dog had comes from energy sent to a loved one from a love one who as passed. The dog will be reborn again and one day probably very soon now David will find a puppy that he "just knows is Skidboot come back" I've raised ACDs for over 35 yrs and my nearest and closet dogs have returned to me multiple times throughout those years. They even appear in dreams to tell me know to find them and when to go out and look for them. Believe it or not.

It was strange to read your post! I lost my baby almost 3 years ago. I recently happned across a puppy online, and just felt I had to get him. I've thought many times that he was my my baby reincarnated. And I even had a dream a few months before I found my new little guy...a dream that told me my baby would come back to me. Strange...but wonderful!

Oh...I'm so sorry that he's gone. He was really amazing. I've lost some very special pets and I know what it's like...sadly they all have to go sometime but they are never forgotten, always precious to us and in our hearts forever. The loss of old friends always makes room for new ones. RIP Skidboot, you were truly amazing.

this dog was truly amazing and his soul will live on forever! he was truly loved not only by David but by everyone who had new him! he was a true mans best friend. i hope he enjoys his days in doggy heaven!!! ther will never be another skidboot though! no one can replace, i guess dogs are really mans best friend. Im goin to fall to pieces when my dog goes, he means the world to me and dont no what i would do without him!!

13 years ago I brought home a cute, fiesty, little 9 week old Blue Heeler puppy...and since I have no children, he literally became my life for the next 9 years. 4 years ago he came down with "anemia" and I had no choice but to "Put him down". As the vet was pushing the "plunger" in, I held him in my arms and whispered in his ear, "I love you. I love you". I didn't know that 50 year old men could bawl/cry like new born babies. Now, I know.

I know when David passes away, he will visit the Rainbow Bridge and Skidboot will be there. If you haven't heard about the Rainbow Bridge, please look it up online. It's an amazing poem and place where our beloved pets go. Rest in peace Skidboot, you were loved.

I can hardly type for crying. I have watched this wonderful dog for years on TV. I am going to miss him. He was better than a lot of people. We should all aspire to be like him. Kind and loving. RIP sweet one.
