  • JUST MADE IT.... In 1963 "Pride and Joy" peaked at No. 10 thus just making Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 14 weeks in the Top Hot 100!!!

Mr. Gaye's first Top 10 record; had a total of 14 Top 10 records with three of them reaching No. 1...

Ranked No. 72 on the Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1963 chart...

    Reached No. 2 on Billboard's R&B chart...

Martha and The Vandellas supplied back-up vocals...

  • where this version comes from?

  • Comment removed

  • @wesmotown : Motown had a habit of remixing songs, sometimes subsequent to initial release (that's what happened with Shop Around). This one was one such effort and, while pure Marvin, this version didn't seem to have the polish of the one we all came to know.

  • Phenomenal rock & soul voice, rivalled only by Sam Cooke.

  • What a TRACK !!!!!!!!

  • On my iPod I mean. lol

  • Amazing song! Listening to it now!

  • Marvin was a "Giant" among men. He defined the sound of young America. This is Classic Soul @ it's very best!!!! Yes Marvin you were truly loved & admired; but, most of all You are sorely missed. Vaya con Dios mi hermano.
