I was in and out of foster care myself, until the age of eight.and I live inBritain all my life!I was sometimes lonely,so when I got adopted in 1980,I was a bit of a loner,my brother was 12,he was also adopted,I'm a happy enough person, but this saddens me.
I was adopted in an orphanage in 1997 in rostov on don. I would love to go back some day and find my real parents. I am now 21 and just enlisted in the u.s navy.
What really disturbs me is when I hear people talk about international adoption as if they are expecting to not have as many problems as they would with American kids. And then when they do get a hold of those kids, they treat them like trash because they aren't as great as they thought they would be. I feel bad for these kids.
My husband and I have been looking into adoption. We live in Canada, and I know that we can give a child a safe and loving home. I would love to adopt a child who is not s privledged as most of the children in Canada, but it is sooo expencive. It is not right to make profit off a child who could grow up to be a positive member to society!
@PriestessAura I so agree with you. It makes me so angry that people make money off of poor orphans. I visited some orphanage websites that ask for donations. How do we know that if we donate, the money will go to the children and not to somebody else's pocket? And I agree also that the costs of adoption should be less. Because governments are so greedy and want more money, the orphans suffer.
Heartbreaking.....oh, if only every child was a wanted child.......people should not have children unless they are prepared to love and care for them ...for the whole of their lives....a child is the most precious thing.
If your not prepare to have a baby then you should talk some caution like using birth control because people get pregnant and have a dilemma. Have the baby and hope it has a happy life with adoptive parents =) or abort the baby so that IF by chance the baby isn't adopted it won't have to spend its life all alone =(
I wish I could go and bring a few of those children. I adopted 2 at the age of 1. It is the hardest thing I ever did and am doing. but I know the kids are better off today and I want to give the same to more of them. Let us not forget to pray for them.
My boyfriend was adopted at the age of eight from an orphanage in Moscow. He was there for four years. He is eighteen and the pshychological scars he has to overcome are heart wrenching. I wish people could just treat one another with respect.
Cprmktg- I was an orphan in Russia but got adopted, if you need any help my parents would be willing, even though my dad is English he luckily speaks fluent Russian. Where are you from? :D

It said 95% of the orphans have a living parent. If the orphanages cannot take good care of the children then why are they taking the child from a parent? Where are these living parents? They should try to teach the parents how to be responsible first and then if the child isn't cared for put them for adoption.
As step-mother to three adopted girls, (two Russian, one Bulgarian) I must say, this brought me to tears. Our girls are beautiful young ladies now. What would their lives have been, if left there? I can only shudder to think. I wish I could bring them ALL to America, to be loved. No child deserves to be frightened, cold, hungry or unloved. Donations get hijacked by a corrupt government official, or the "care-givers" at the orphanages. This is why the orphanage workers are fat, the children thin.
I couldnt agree more... my friend and I finally found a good/honest contact who we know and send money to and we are sure he spends them on orphans... he has been helping orphanages for years and someone we can trust... Thank God there are people like that out there!
@roshkova I AGREE WITH YOU , IT MAKE ME SICK CORRUPT PEOPLE AND I FEEL VERY SAD FOR EVERY CHILD WHO THEY ARE ON THOSE PLACES.. I HAVE A KID AND IF I COULD ADOPT A CHILD I WILL DO IT WITH ALL MY HEART AND I WILL LOVE HER OR HIM SO MUCH LIKE MINE...THANK GOD THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WITH A BIG HEART AND LOVE TO CAN GIVE TO YOUR DAUGHTERS... GOD BLESS YOU
I am Russian too. I lived in orphanage, it was long time ago during soviet time. We were clothed, fed, sheltered and educated. No sex, drugs or cruelty. Most of us grew up as a normal citizens. My friend Larisa lives in UK. She is a lawyer. I live In US and have a master degree. It was better treatment of kids back then. I am not nostalgic of the Soviet system, But the system worked at least for us.
What kind of world do we live in? Is there really people that think that this is okay? Is there really people that would abuse and neglect their own children? That disguists me. Poor, innocent children, with parents that don't deserve to live. And how could people let the little kids be prostitudes? I would've given them money for free.
The children are not a problem. The problem is the adults: "Success" hungry Sociopaths, attention seeking Narcissists and Histrionics: Personality disordered adults are the problem.
OMG!!! All these poor little, helpless, forgotten and precious souls! I just don`t know, where to start with help? I`m a mom, and i don`t know, how "human beeings" can treat children like that, it`s a shame!
My dads best friend, and his wife, adopted a 2 year old girl and a 6 month old boy from Russia. Me being half Russian, i take Russia very seriously and Going, and seeing 4 and 5 year old children offer to have sex with a total stranger....well i cried, and cried, and cried. 4 and 5 year old's shouldn't even know what sex is, let alone give there body away. As much as i want to have my own children, i feel it is my job, to take these angels out of hell.
I'm half Russian too, and I'll be going there in 2012 as a foreign exchange student for a year. I agree with you, 4-5 year old kids (any age younger then 12) should NOT know what sex is, and even over 18 should be HAVING it. I loved your quote, "I feel it is my job to take these angels out of hell." I'll do anything I can while I'm there.
It calms my nerves to here someone actually say that thier going to at least try and do something about this horrible phenominon. Please email me on my youtube user account. Id LOVE to hear about my country. Thank you, bless you.
@naturalandpure That is not green ink, its special medicine that helps cuts and wounds heal better and all children in Russia use it, even the adults, and the doctors use it on their patients. It is not painful and it is a very good medicine!
There are some good orphanages. The ones I have visited the workers truly care for the orphans and do what they can - but it is not enough. So many, many orphans. And the ones I truly feel sorry for are the children with some mental or developmental issues - they are rarely adopted and sometimes the orphanages are the best places for them. I don't know what happens to them when they are older, but can only imagine.
why are there so many costs involved in adopting one of these beauties, when adoptive parents can give give them so much love, support and a fantastic upbringing? I don't understand.
Those iron cribs and beds scare me. They can not be safe. How can they put a baby or child in them. Makes me wish I could put my hand in the screen and pull them out. These poor children, God Bless them and keep them safe.
i wish I could adopt one of these children. I feel I could give them a wonderful loving home, as well as preserve their language and culture ( I was born in Russia) . however, I looked at the requirements and I do not meet one of the health requirements ( I have a young son, my health doesn't affect me - but rules are rules and there's nothing i can do to change them ) . It makes me very sad :((((
I was adopted from Russian but where I was I didint get beet just got yeld at and every1 was nice to me we went outside we played had fun so where I was adopted it was not that bad
I was adopted from an orphanage in Rostov-on-Don in Russia with sever muscle apathy, a dead eye, and malnutrition.... I feel so blessed to have been one of the lucky ones, able to get out. There is nothing I want more than to be able to help the ones who werent....... Many of these children need more than just food and shelter, they need medical help and LOVE! My sister is also from the same orphanage and remembers HORRIBLE things, things Im glad I dont.
people adopt children from RUSSIA, but please ONLY one's who have a real good heart ,not the angry nasty woman. There is a lot's of angry damn woman in America.
The Father of our children, Lilike Locke & Anjeni-Katalin is of full Hungarian blood. So my children have some Hungarian blood in them, all 3 of our children resembled dad as a baby and as toddlers.
I am about to open a non-profit organization and I was doing some research and I just got to this video. It's really sad that in a country with great culture and history we see many children like this. I am originally persian and at first I wanted to open an organization for the Iranian orphans, but I feel the kids in the russian orphanages still need more help and the donations can help their situation a lot more
I don't understand. If so many of these sweet babies have at least one parent, why are they put in an orphange? I mean, I understand not every parent has the means to take care of a child... it's just so sad =(
all this suffering is only the heritage of godless communism, the result of taking out God of public life. I am so sad of not be able to help all of them, little children and teens...
I highly recommend reading The Boy From Baby House 10.. It's about a Russian orphan who struggled 8 years in a baby house and internat. The struggles the few people who cared for him went through are heartbreaking. It really shows how near impossible it is to get through the Russian government. He now lives in the U.S. and is an honor student.
@emericaskate8325 I just read this book for my missions class here at seminary in New York. Excellent book! I will be volunteering this summer in Ukraine..third trip.
this is a result of 74 years of communism its normal for this people lot of they will have the communist back good luck.shame russia you can do better for yours children
I really do think they should have more orphanages. But have them nicer, instead of giving the kids old beds, and not being able to eat. You'd think it would be like a giant room with twin beds laying besider each other along the wall. with pretty paint and posters. And a coat rack in the corner where people put their shoes. And then they got fed every day and night, the babies got the milk they needed and then they had a little playground out back. That would be better for the kids there.
how can anyone not adopt after seeing this? there are so many children, even some babies out there in need of warm loving homes and the world is already over populated. great but heartbreaking vid :/
one day, i will move there...and help these children. i grew up there...i saw them in the streets, begging...stealing...and offering sex. and it appears to me that the government doesn't give a s***...when i visited an orphanage in moldova, my heart melted. the people that work there, dont care about these children. they beat them, lock them in shelves, dont feed them. when i left, a few kids approached me and asked if i am their dad...others asked me to take them away with me...i was only 16..
I would adopt a child in a second, but the laws in Australia make it a very expensive and drawn out process, which is a shame. So many people would love to give these children a home.
this is terrible. i just met a young boy this weekend (well he was my age but he was short... lol) but he was adopted from a russian orphanage... and i cant IMAGINE the things he must have seen and went through!! i felt so bad for him... but now everyone loves him hes like a little celebrity lol.
but ya i do feel good though cause i donated a lot of money to project russia today... i even asked my mom if we could adopt a russian kid. i will do everything i can to help these kids!!!
I lived in an orphanage and new no better and I loved the orphanage, it was not a bad thing. I remember Americans coming and buying us furr coats and shoes and coming to adopt some of my friends.
the russian goverment should treasure their children and invest more time and money in them rather than fighting wars, instead they sit back with their hands open for the fat checks that rich americans supply ever so readily.
Yeah I agree, but it is different countrys who pitch in. It is not just Russia who has this, Ukrain and other countries have this problem. It is heart breaking. Children in general should be happy as kids.
the saddest thing is that kids who need help and family can't get it,because in russia nobody want to adopt them, but when foreign family try to do it, people don't let them do it so easily. they will try to get your money first.
We recently adopted our daughter from Russia. It is possible. Many people think about adopting and few actually do. Don't let all the negative scare you. You just don't hear about all the success stories and there are a lot more of those, just less interesting for news!!!
Unfortunately there are few agencies authorized for Russian adoptions and it is very expensive. Expect to spend $40,000 to adopt a child from Russia and to go through many hoops.
And it is not so hard to adopt a children, it's just expensive. Hardness is just a pretext, the re Wherever you live, you can contact foundations which will help you in you project.
This video frightens me, remembers me when we adopted our little boy in 2007, in a big russian city. He was only 1 year old, left by his mother who was an alcoholic and drug-addict, just after he was born. We'll never put the blame on her, because she had the courage to end her pregnancy and give her son a chance to be adopted.
Why are there so many orphans ? Drugs, alcohol, prostitution, caused by extreme poorness due to a system that doesn't care for their people. Money rules in Russia.
I went to Russia over the past summer and it was AMAZING! i went to an orphanage over in Smolensk. it was hard to see all of the sad faces, but we just have to believe that God will make a way for those children too.
My husband and I have adopted our son from Russia in 2006, I want to adopt 2 more children but we need more funds and this time we cannot take money from our house due to today's market....
Por Dios que duele ver sufrir a los niños sobre todo cuando mis hijas crecen rodeadas de amor, a veces la falta de recursos impide adoptar un niño.Dios los bendiga.
I just want to reach out and give those beautiful children a hugg and keep them safe ..I don't understand the absent minded people in this world..everyone has a cross to bare but these children are innocent.
i just don't understand how could you carry a baby 9 months and just give it away.i had my son when i was 15 yrs.old and i never would have gave him away.he is my life.these poor little babies.i hope and pray they find a good loving home.GOD BLESS THE BABIES.
It is so sad...my sister his pregnant and wants to give her baby away. She is 33yrs old and has a loving home..Why?? It breaks my heart to see this video as it will be my nephew soon in this position in Santiago de Chile...Please adopt and love children in need of a family...it could be one day your family...GOD bless these children and all around the world.
I'm curious to know what it is about the cultures in Eastern Europe, Russia and China (all either Communist or former Communist countries) that makes them treat those in need the way they do. If anyone can help me figure that out, I would love to know.
Yes, these images are sad. It's sadder still the country of Russia has failed its families to the point that biological parents need to place THEIR CHILDREN (not OUR children) into these hellholes.
The country of Russia ought to be ashamed of itself for allowing this. There is NO EXCUSE for it.
Adoption by foreigners won't solve this problem - Russia needs to solve this problem on their own.
That is really devastating! As an American, and has a wife of a Russian native, I know we can do better. NO child deserves this. I grew up in a foster home in The USA and thats a palace compared to these Russian children...Im going to try adopting myself.
This is why my husband and I are passionate about adopting from Russia...we will wait till they open up adoptions to USA. Our child is in Russia. Somewhere.....
The blue marks on that one baby is actually medicine, I believe. Many babies had that blue on them in the orphanages I visited, and they were not bruises. The plight of the Russian orphans is great though. They are GREAT KIDS!!!
i hope that wasn't supposed to be the slightest bit racist! but yeah if not, i get it, countries and economies choose to help Africans over Russians in order to not seem racist. i'm not saying it's a bad thing, i'm just saying i wish all this racism thing would go away
I was in and out of foster care myself, until the age of eight.and I live inBritain all my life!I was sometimes lonely,so when I got adopted in 1980,I was a bit of a loner,my brother was 12,he was also adopted,I'm a happy enough person, but this saddens me.

this is sad, i wish i could be a mother to all of these children.

I don't understand. If so many of these sweet babies have at least one parent, why are they put in an orphange? I mean, I understand not every parent has the means to take care of a child... it's just so sad =(
brittlovespink86 2 years ago
all this suffering is only the heritage of godless communism, the result of taking out God of public life.

Aww well I'll take a baby pass one on down! lol no I would love a russian orphan iin all seriousness one day! Hope to Adopt we will see.

the russian goverment should treasure their children and invest more time and money in them rather than fighting wars, instead they sit back with their hands open for the fat checks that rich americans supply ever so readily.
topliff12345 2 years ago
Yeah I agree, but it is different countrys who pitch in. It is not just Russia who has this, Ukrain and other countries have this problem. It is heart breaking. Children in general should be happy as kids.
stacier333 2 years ago 2
the saddest thing is that kids who need help and family can't get it,because in russia nobody want to adopt them, but when foreign family try to do it, people don't let them do it so easily. they will try to get your money first.
Kaunatian 2 years ago
We recently adopted our daughter from Russia. It is possible. Many people think about adopting and few actually do. Don't let all the negative scare you. You just don't hear about all the success stories and there are a lot more of those, just less interesting for news!!!

Unfortunately there are few agencies authorized for Russian adoptions and it is very expensive. Expect to spend $40,000 to adopt a child from Russia and to go through many hoops.
daytripperMG 2 years ago

Money rules in Russia.
mick2mars1 2 years ago
Why so many chidren in Russian orphanages ?
1-Million-plus is a staggering number
What are the causes / reasons ?
Are parents poor...on drugs..or.....alcohol ?
What are the MAIN reasons ?
Just wondering. I lived in orphanges in Warsaw & Ciechanow - Poland, from 1973 - 1975
Orphanges over-seas seem to be a bit different then USA. Many kids.... in orphanages, but parents visit on weekends and still keep legal custody
But after 1.5 years, my mum had to say good-bye

I'm curious to know what it is about the cultures in Eastern Europe, Russia and China (all either Communist or former Communist countries) that makes them treat those in need the way they do. If anyone can help me figure that out, I would love to know.

The situation is enen worse in China, maybe the only difference is that
The Chinese children seldom approach acloicos, drugs.
While sometimes they will be cut legs off and forced to cheating money

freakygurl811 4 years ago 3
Yes, these images are sad. It's sadder still the country of Russia has failed its families to the point that biological parents need to place THEIR CHILDREN (not OUR children) into these hellholes.
The country of Russia ought to be ashamed of itself for allowing this. There is NO EXCUSE for it.
Adoption by foreigners won't solve this problem - Russia needs to solve this problem on their own.
Question is, do they have the will?

I would love to be able to take an orphan from Russia. I have four little children of my own and it tears my heart out to see these poor children.

I want to scream!!! so loud everyone could here, where does the world going to?
I have no words to describe what I'm feeling when I watched this video.
If I could I would take all these kids, give them home, peace of love, happyness.
I wish all the best for them, I hope their dreams come true as fast as it's possible.
Huge hug for all of out there.
Best regards

i hope that wasn't supposed to be the slightest bit racist! but yeah if not, i get it, countries and economies choose to help Africans over Russians in order to not seem racist. i'm not saying it's a bad thing, i'm just saying i wish all this racism thing would go away
