i agree with kepbley 100 percent....just walk away..or use a picture of inside maybe a favorite toy or something that is reiforcing to the child..i know its a pian the butt but im sure it will help u in the long run..
my autistic daughter wants to stay outside all the time if she could. getting her inside is a battle too. I find that if I ignore her tantrum or just step outside the room she stops because she has no audience. Luckily if she tries to harm herself in frustration she doesn't want to feel pain and she stops.

my ds exhibits the same response, sometimes lasting over an hour and repeating 2 to 3 times a day. My heart goes out to you, I know how it feels.

also look into rdi..we are teaching that in my school most parents are happy with the outcome...search dr.gutstein...

I'm autistic and can remember when I would have meltdowns like that. I still do but they're more controlled and I generally just start ranting.
