To all these guys saying it's supposed to played with upstrokes, I'm sorry to inform that is incorrect. Most reggae is played with downstrokes on the upbeat. That is the way that Bradley Nowell played as well. Instead if saying he's doing it wrong, go and watch some videos of other reggae guitar players and you will see.
