Yeah, you know, when I visited St. Augustine for the first time when I was just a kid, & I was told the story of the Spanish coming to Florida long before pilgrams - & I can say it got me VERY confused as a kid. Its just interesting how we only celebrate the English "first landing", & ignore all other European arrivals. Just shows you how the English were so influential, & still are, in the overall American culture.....
My dads been saying this for years about how all the texans, even those who have no cattle, think theyre the only cowboys around. my family were crackers and cow-hunters out of pine level before my great-grandfather, grandfather, and father pursued the ministry in the methodist church but i still feel close to our history every time i get out into that part of cattle country. god bless the florida cracker
@torquiljm I know wot you mean i'm from a ranch in ft. ogden fl and i moved to texas for 2 years now i'm not tryin to be rude to all my friends but all they realy have out there are goats so there but they do have a barrelrace ropin' cuttin' and junk like every night that was great (I'm now back in ft. ogden on our ranch)
The music is a song from John Anderson called "Seminole Wind". Performed here by 2 Florida cowboys who will be in the movie. Search YouTube for the video.
@jnm594 yeah bout disney and beaches you know we were the first cattle state in america in the 1900's then bout 10 years ago #3 now where 20 er something like that anyway it boils down to this we suport 1 cow calf pair per acer and other states take alot more to suport cows so if we would bring our nations beef cow junk down here then we would not have to buy mad cow desiesd cows from canida (no offince canida just )
Florida maintains 3 herds od Florida Cracker cattle or to crackers scrub cow,and cracker horses at Paynes Prairie, these are the wild cows and horses to roam Florida
It's about time the story of Old Florida is being told. Florida was actually more violent, and more harsh than the Old West than Hollywood has led us to believe.
@robfromorlando yeah its true have you read A Land Rembered it says in that book that this state was brought up on vilonce and blood shead and you cant walk one step without steping on some bone of a critter or man i member hearing bout the thousand ilands and how that was where we the outlaws would run to hide Jessie James also hid down here from the railroad men he went to key west

It's about time that people realize that Florida is not just beaches and Disney World.
The Florida Crackers are some of the finest people on the face of the earth. I cannot wait to see this movie. Just watching it made me think of home!
