  • mental engineering- you mean they like to brainwash people into Godlessness. they don't have a plan- they make it up as they go along, it is Godless and they try to force you into it.

  • wait until you see 9/11 firefighters who rebuilt a United Methodist church Baker Capel in Indiana in the film "New York Says Thank You" coming in 2011. check out the youtube videos and website.

  • I justheard here that Homosexual can't be preachers. I was told quite clear Homosexual can be preachers and resign some time back after 40years as a Methodist. I need to check this out.

  • This panel doesn't have a very high opinion of Methodism, it seems... especially that liberal black lady. lol Apparently right-wing radio show hosts and serial killers are the first people that come to mind when she thinks of Methodists. :P

  • you know i've being doing a lot of research..watching different pples believes.. and wat i've noticed a lot of pple dont live by the bible..so many ppl live by their worldly needs.. it just makes me sick ..a lot of ppl r just goin straight to hell and its sucks bc a lot of ppl r double minded

  • I converted from Methodism to Catholicism.

I couldn't worship in a church started by a human man less than 400 years ago.

Also, my parents were ignorant and forced me into methodism. Never again.

That was the best choice I made in my life.

  • romans created the catholicism and im taking it that you think jesus did. jesus was a jew not a roman.

  • but the practices or the roman catholic church are the practices of Jesus Christ.

do you think Jesus drank grape juice like some protestant sects. no.

  • i don't have a problem if your catholic or not but your reasoning is pretty unrealistic.

  • So you think all Christians must drink wine as part of communion?

    What about diabetics?

  • Why not grape juice, how about Juicy Juice? lol

  • Again how do you suggest diabetics take communion?

  • Second, as a member you can follow any path that you so chose. If your path no longer includes the UMC, then you can "cancel your membership". We do not badger you just because you are not interested in our church anymore & you are always welcome back, no matter what.We are not about politics or any type of prejudice, we are about God, Jesus, & faith in them both.

  • ok if your a homosexual than u cant participate or be a member of the church..u can come to the service buts that all you can do... and by the holy bible if ur living a homosexual life then you dont have salvation...and i can prove it by the scripture

  • Well that must not be true for every church then b/c Im bisexual & I work @ my church am a Sunday School teacher & Im a youth group leader The women that r lesbians @ my church not only hold memberships but they also teach classes and one of them is the Childrens Choir leader & God accepts me for who I am u can believe that Peter wont let me pass thru his gates but I believe differently u cant believe everything in there b/c if you did then eating fish & praying at church would equal damnation

  • Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomitesnor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. Corinthians 6:9

  • so if u fall under this category then ur goin straight to HELL... no excuse doesnt matter wat u do in church and the church u go to,that is teachin the wrong doctrine which is even worse i rather be atheist if i had to follow ur doctrine cause its cursed and wrong and playin wit fire..

  • The only unforgivable sin is cursing the name of God. And God will not punish me for having created me the way he did. He will welcome me into the Kingdom of Heaven, because I praise his name, and I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior.

We are obviously not going to agree, and I don't really see a happy medium. So I will agree to disagree with you.

But look it up, there are plenty of things that you aren't supposed to do that equal damnation. And everybody does them, Christian or not.

  • hey read 1st John

  • dude you need to take the log out of your eye.

  • log out of my eye lol im not a homosexual so i can judge the homosexual sin by the BIBLE !!!

  • judgement is only done by one being and the word human is not in front of that being.

  • how little do u kno...when the scripture speaks abt dont judge it means do not judge if u have the same sin..and if u do u pretty much judged urself.. On top of it if u read abt Paul he judged people's sin, also do i not have the rite to point at the homosexual sin and say its a SIN? when its written clearly in the bible it is a SIN... i think its wrong for me to let those things slide....

  • if you are sinless then go right ahead and judge and if you are doing the works of paul then go right a head and judge but i think your turning people away from God when you talk like you've been talking and that is sinful. so take the log out of your i then judge and i promise when the log is gone you will no longer thrive to judge.

  • first of all ur judging me rite now, and on top of it paul wasnt perfect, another thing is where am i judging? how am i wrong for sayin homosexuality is wrong?and for the church to accept is wrong? SO where am i wrong for doin that? how am i wrong for interpreting the bible???? take the log out of ur eye ....

  • i have many logs in my eyes but im not telling people there going to hell. i just want you to stop. if homos are going to hell so be it, they will not change, but you still can. God lead me to a verse it is in proverbs ch.26 verse 4. im done.

  • ok .. i understand where u getting at ... i dont hate homos and im not condeming them to hell.. but once thing if they find jesus christ, they will change once ur born again ur dead to sin.....and i want everyone to be saved but unfortunately not everyone is.... GOD BLESS

  • Ok, as a UMC member, I have a couple of things to say. First gays & lesbians are allowed to join. We have a lesbian couple who are very active members of our church & I myself am bisexual & nobody treats me any different. We close our doors to no one, its what makes us unique.

  • gomusicgrl: go do a search for "Beth Stroud" and see how she was treated by the UMC

  • methodist 4 life

  • LOL

(small voice): "comin up next, (deep voice) the united methodist church"

  • ads wont get people in the doors of a church. its in the message and the power of the holy spirit that gets people in the church. the umc also needs to get back to preaching sin and judgment without apologizing everytime. the united methodist church is so liberal that they are affraid to offend anyone. it makes me sick.

  • rubbish

  • What a heck of a way to be known -- by whom we exclude!! We need to get our act together.

  • We are only known by whom we "exclude" to those who already have an ax to grind.

  • the church has no place for gay bishops or pastors read the bible and see what is says about gays it goes against the scriptures and what god ordianed.

  • I wish the UMC well. I know that some day the UMC will see fit to allow gays to join, to become pastors, and to become bishops.

  • You don't mention Hillary Clinton but you mention Ted Bundy? You don't mention John Edwards but you mention Ken Lay? You name Rush Limbaugh and leave out George Lucas?

    Thanks alot.

  • "Don't allow in gays"?

We don't allow active homosexuals to join.

We allow any person earnestly seeking Christ to join us for for worship and receive communion and yes I have seen gay women hold hands in Church.

The lady decrying the UMC needs to investigate more before she speaks badly of others.

  • I agree. I'm not sure about the homosexuals not being allowed to join thing, though. I know of openly-homosexual professors at Methodist seminaries; there are also homosexual persons in leadership (though, not pastoral) positions within local churches of the denomination. To my knowledge, the stance of the denomination is that while homosexuality is incompatible with the teachings of Scripture, practitioners of such a lifestyle are of no less sacred worth than anyone else.

  • At this point the UMC seems to be in agreement with the words of Rev. William Sloane Coffin.

"...the problem is not how to reconcile homosexuality with scriptural passages that condemn it, but how to reconcile the rejection and punishment of homosexuals with the love of Christ."
